I do 375* in a deep fryer with a basket, about 4 minutes.
Deep fried Brussels sprouts
I have been reading, possibly too much…is vegetable oil considered a poor choice for keto/frying? Thought I’d ask before I invest in a 5 gal bucket.
Very poor, yes. Vegetable oils(soybean, corn, canola, etc) are known as a PUFAs. Do some reading about it. Vegetable and seed oils are rancid and cause inflammation. None of us seasoned ketoers eat it at all! ever. We put beef tallow and pork lard in our deep fryers and not the hydrogenated kind. Sometimes we have to render our own because we can’t buy it in our local stores.
I love deep fried Brussels sprouts. I do 3 minutes at 374, dump them onto a paper towel lined plate and salt them with sea salt.wait a few minutes to cool and chow down…
A restaurant chain near me has this on their menu and I go for it almost every time I eat there. They jazz it up a bit though. Here’s their description from the menu; “flash fried with red pepper & chopped bacon, tossed with fresh lime juice, parmesan & chilis. garnished with lime crema & fresh cilantro.”
Made 'em, burned 'em, still loved 'em. Shallow fry works quite well, just turn 'em half way through (and don’t leave them too long
I’ll try to do it without an extra side of AGEs tomorrow.
I was stunned to see that ten Brussels sprouts have 17g of carbs — I was sad to see that they would blow most of my daily allotment. These look so good!
I figured that too, but when you google it, it shows 1.7 grams (not net) per sprout. I think her data is just based on much larger sprouts than my grocer usually has
Cauliflower pan fried in bacon grease! Oh soooo good! I fry enough to have some crispness to them.
I deep fried some brussels sprouts in lard last night and dipped them in homemade garlic butter as I ate them. It was seriously wedding-cake-good!!
