Deep fried Brussels sprouts

Deep fried Brussels sprouts. If you have decided you don’t like them before you try them you are a fool. Even Kevin @NativeKetoMan didn’t think he would like these and he just ate all of these himself. LOL

Absolutely the best!! I order these wherever they are served. Unbelievably light, crispy, almost sweet.

For low effort, I steam them first in a microwave and then pan fry/saute - not as good, but close and less effort (for me).

If you always have tallow in your fryer I guess this is easier! (and definitely better).

Was making these way before keto. One of my 7 year old’s favorites!

I was about to ask if you could just do them in a frying pan - I guess it depends on whether you get the temp right to get the charred bits? I :sparkling_heart: them roasted til they’re all charred around the edges!

I don’t usually put enough oil/grease in to really do even a proper shallow fry since I don’t trust myself with that much hot grease in a frying pan but I’m sure they’d be much closer to Brenda’s if I did.

My usual way, I get them charred on the outside but they are not as sweet or light as the proper fried ones.

@Brenda what did you fry them in? they had these at a local BBQ restaurant and they were to die for. and I just saw ALDI has a small deep fryer going on sale this week. …

I can tell you what we fry them in at my house

Is that hydrogenated?

(Stan Brooks) #9

That is literally the whole label so assuming they are are following US regulations, no it isn’t.

I either use beef Tallow or pork lard. Beef Tallow is my favorite and these were fried in beef tallow

(Mike W.) #11

Well I know what I’m making today! I’ve got a fry daddy full of tallow

(Shayne) #12

I love them, too. Do it with broccoli. I promise you’ll be blown away!

That’s a once a week thing for me…LOL

Thanks for the inspiration!

How long should I fry?

#16

Those look soooo good!

#17

4 minutes in 400 degree oil, be sure to use a pan with tall sides. It’s messy. But worth it!

(Elaine Fitzpatrick Pedersen) #18

I’ve got a fry daddy filled with lard so I should be good to go!

(Elaine Fitzpatrick Pedersen) #19

And thank you!

Love Brussels fried with bacon and with a squeeze of lemon… The lemon makes it…
