December IF/EF chat - all welcome!

Just broke a 42 hr fast so I can feast well for the rest of the day and then start my first Zorn fast tomorrow. Longest I have done previously was 72 hrs, so think I will try for that or a bit more in preparation for the feasting of the season! Loving my focus and determination and the knowledge that I will be able to resist the sweet holiday treats without difficulty! KCKO

Back at it today. Had to make a visit to the Dr and ended up on pain pills. Thank goodness it was short term because weight started to pile back on. It’s been about five days and I am about done with them now. I am 24 hours into my five day fast. Feeling very snacky and wanting a lot of chips this time around. What in the world is that about?

SALT maybe?

(Michael ) #244

Doing an eating window from 1800 to 2000 this week but planning a 5 day fast in a couple weeks. Just prepping my vegetables and meats for tonight

Hey, here’s a great fasting tip, toothache pain…that will keep you away from food! Ugh, I felt this coming on yesterday and hoped it would subside, disappear and never return. Or at least wait until after the holidays and a bit more moola to pay the dentist.

But NO, here it is, and I am too busy for this right now!

OK, that was a silly rant, but you can see, my fast WILL continue, and for just how long, I cannot be sure. Oh, how I want to have a happy, munchie time with my family Thursday…and etc.

I hope the rest of you will do well with the fasts you are planning. It’s almost a new year…wow.

(Michael ) #246

I would think have a tsp of salt. Are you using any sweeteners or anything, or just water?

(Dawn) #247

Just water. I will drink a little salt. I haven’t drank hardly any watched at all today.

(Michael ) #248

I find that i need about 3-4 tsp a day if fasting. More if I’m doing cardio. Good luck

(What The Fast?!) #249

I’m about 50 hours into a fast. I was planning to just do 48, but then I was like…meh, may as well keep going since the holidays are coming…but now I’m ravenous.

The reason I wanted to keep going was to see if I could get into the 130’s by tomorrow morning (I’m at 141.6 today)…but I’m also going to do a leg workout that I KNOW will make me retain water, so now I feel like I have an excuse to eat. Bah! Maybe bacon today…maybe not. We’ll see.

It’s funny how I feel guilty just for eating food…

Your a BEAST! :bacon:

(Marie Dantoni) #251

I’ve been pretty much 20/3 or so for most of the past year( with the exception of days when I feel ravenous due to lack of sleep). I
I haven’t done any extended fasting since July, so I’m a bit apprehensive. In the past Ive had a hard time persevering at the 24 hour mark. I do remember how great it felt around day 3. I have black coffee, camomile tea, and bone broth on hand as well as magnesium spray, real salt and nu-salt.
I think I can…I think I can…I think I can…

(Ellen) #252

You can!

(Michael ) #253

The secret is calorie free beef. I had a pound of it yesterday and fasting was a breeze

(What The Fast?!) #254

@Fat_Mike This comment wins the keto internet today

#255

I think following OMAD might be messing up my ability to get enough sodium everyday. I had a headache and some leg cramps, which went away as soon as I finished eating my hot sauce-, butter-, and Caesar dressing-topped meal (which I don’t usually do). I’m MUCH better now. Last time I followed keto, I was eating multiple meals and wasn’t pescatarian, so this was a non-issue (especially because I would put away at least ~1/4 pound of bacon every morning). How are you all getting your sodium during fasts?

ETA: I just saw that people were suggesting salt water. Any other way? Salt water makes me vomit.

(Marie Dantoni) #256

Do uou ship ???

#257

OK, so I’m posting here and now because I’m getting the head game effect…“eat, it’s ok, you’ve fasted ALMOST 72 hours after all…”

The truth is, I just had an $800. root canal done at noontime (cash!) and I’m feeling sorry for myself. I’m not really hungry. So, I can make it at least until 8 PM and then, I may as well go until Thursday as originally planned. This was just for me to be accountable, I don’t want to cave in!

The 5 day course of antibiotics could be a digestive nightmare though…hmmm!!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(Mary Kubasak) #258

make sure you start back up with some good quality pre- and pro- biotics so the flora you want inhabiting your gut get a step up in establishing themselves! - good luck - I hate antibiotics…

(Marie Dantoni) #259

If I just paid $800. My cortisol would have spiked and blown my fast right there. You are doing great, so stay the course.

Yes, I know, it’s a little freaky to consider the C.dif possibility…AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Lord no, Please?! I’m going to have to get some sauerkraut I think…don’t want yogurt. Maybe a probiotic cap, but those seem so… wrong.
