fasting

(KCKO, KCFO 🥥) #122

Started another 36 hr. fast last night.

Is it just me or is it harder to fast with the shorter days? I can’t seem to go much longer than 36-40 hrs. this month.

(Jane) #123

40 hours in ad no hunger this morning so all is good. Will be breaking tomorrow some time, whenever I feel like I need to. Going to get me some break-fast to go so I will have it. Very stressful, intense day tomorrow so may go either way. Need to break my fast or too busy to think about food and make it to 72 hours.

Traveling home on Friday so will be breaking Thursday night regardless of hunger in case I have “issues”

Feasting today - including good servings of pork belly - and planning to join the Zorn fast as of this evening. Gotta repair and regain some ground lost due to holiday foods and some emotional eating over the weekend. Decided to own it, be accountable and fast for healing and reset.

Wait…did I miss the Zorn fast this month? I thought it was Thurs-Sat? Well, I may be going it alone if it’s already happened, but starting a 3 day fast tomorrow regardless!

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #125

I haven’t seen a topic for it yet

(Susan) #126

You haven’t missed it, I am starting today at 5pm as well, going until Saturday at 5pm. They just haven’t started the thread yet.

(Justin Jordan) #127

Successful day. Not breaking until tomorrow morning, but I (arbitrarily) go by the day.

Interestingly but probably not surprisingly, it’s gotten easier. Physically, hunger hasn’t been an actual issue, but Monday and today I literally didn’t get hungry at all. It’s still more of a mental challenge, and today there was food around I quite like, but I’ve gotten into a rhythm.

The next two weeks are going to be tricky, with lots of social stuff I don’t want to fast for. So I’ll be trying to keep it three days a week, but it’s likely to be space out as catch as catch can.

I’ve titrated off Glipizide, so I’m just using Metformin, which I have no intent to stop. Blood sugar was cruising at around 100, so I’m pretty pleased about that.

I broke my fast last night at 72 hours. I felt i could have gone longer but I wanted to join the Zornfast tomorrow. Not 1 headache this time out. NSV no migraines in I don’t know how long.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #129

Susan that is awesome. So many NSV for so many that cover a wide range of symptoms.

This week I broke a fast at 45 hours and had zero problems down under, if you know what I mean.

I broke with chicken bone broth with salt and pepper only. No collagen. Then a handful of pork rinds and sour cream with salt.

I waited 45 mins and then snacked a little on cheese and had a small dinner. I did not have sauerkraut this time and I suspect that made a difference. I will do the kraut when fed already at least 1 meal or more into breaking a fast.

I’ll be off work this coming week and will try to fast Sunday night at least into Tues morning. I usually fast at work so this might be a bit of a challenge but I want to keep up at least a short fast the next two weeks.

Good luck all.

I technically broke at 60 hours this morning with HWC, butter and a bit of Truvia in my coffee (half as much of each as I usually do). Getting my break-fast to go and will eat later.

(Jane) #132

Eating at 65 hours. Could only eat half of what I brought but that is ok. Will have the rest later

If you want to join the Zornfast this month here is the link. Light activity over there currently.

Looking forward to my Fasting Friday this week, which technically starts sometime tonight, and wraps up on Saturday.

Glad to see the Fasting Folks here are still going strong! … I’ve been quite busy myself, and with the Holidays and my Anniversary this month, I’ve mostly been just doing OMAD and TMAD and basically just trying to keep up with things going haywire. So it’s good to see others having great success.:+1:

Hi everyone! So cool to see so many posts.
I’m on my weekly (well, almost weekly) 48-hour fast. I generally do all or most of it dry but today was with electrolytes and water. I’m feeling great.
I’ve been trying to get regular with OMAD this fall and I’ve only been partially successful but one thing that OMAD means is that my weekly 48 hour fast = skipping one meal, so psychologically it’s ridiculously easy.

Howdy fasters! So weird to think I actually do this now… My first was in July and I didn’t even think I COULD fast at the time! Now this is my best tool for health and weight loss and I really love it. I don’t love the hunger pangs but I am getting used to them.

I’m on a 32-hour fast that I will break tomorrow morning. I had a day of debauchery yesterday  It was my partner’s birthday and I made him his favorite pasta dish, plus there was wine and keto desserts for me (regular desserts for him). It was a lot of fun but I’m very grateful for this wonderful tool of fasting to get that glycogen back out of my liver ASAP! I actually feel pretty good today. I attribute that to being in ketosis longer than… ever maybe! I don’t really feel any ill effects from the carbs yesterday or the overeating. I thought I’d feel sick and brain foggy, but I actually really don’t. I am glad that I’ve decided not to EVER eat sugar again, as that is probably one big reason that I’m doing as well as I am today.

KCFO fasters! Happy Friday!!!

You are ROCKIN’ it! Congrats!

the past few days have solidified for me that I just.can’t.do.sugar. ugh. And need to get my emotional eating in check. Reset my fasting app this morning after falling into a binge last night. Trying not to beat myself up and refocused this morning with a “I’m already at 12 hours again and I can do this!” Seeing your success helps encourage me to follow and plan to keep really busy over the weekend. Wish me luck!

(Jane Srygley) #139

I’m very happy to hear that! Best of luck and you got this :muscle::muscle::muscle:

I’ve given up sugar for years at a time, then I’ve talked myself into the idea that I can eat it moderately… and I always can for awhile, but not without occasional bingeing. I was trying to hold onto dark chocolate because other keto people do it without issues, but I decided that it doesn’t make sense for me, because if I let that door stay open even the littlest bit, I will be battling with myself to have more. If I keep that door closed, the struggle doesn’t even get started. I pass by the candy bowl at work and instead of thinking, wow, look I could have just one and stay in ketosis (and subsequently emptying said bowl as I have done more than once), I think, nope I don’t do that stuff and just pass right by. It just makes a lot more sense for me.

I’m getting a little headachy myself and very gassy from the badness of yesterday but hanging in there and looking forward to being all cleaned out by tomorrow  Mostly, anyhow!

(Susan) #140

I wish I had thought of that. It does make it sound delightfully easy.

(back and doublin' down) #141

Oh Jane! this is SO me. Feeling less alone now in my struggles and using some ‘no shows’ in my schedule to catch up on typing rather than roaming around that bowl of treats on the front desk! Enjoy that ‘empty’ feeling ~ I’m going to focus on how good that will feel tonight when I make it to bedtime without eating!
