Day 4 still no side effects

#1

I started keto 4 days ago.I read scary things about side effect, yet I didnt yet get any of these.I didnt even start loosing water as I have expected. My breath doesnt smell like acetone,my urine doesnt seem any different.

If these things didnt happen by now, does that mean they most probably wont happen? Am I “good”? Or is it possible that somewhere in the timeframe of next 10 days they can start happening?

I was nervous that these bad transitional side effects will happen to me.I just want to know, after how many days, can I relax and be 99% sure, that if transitional side effects didnt come by now, they wont ever come.

My first thought is … there are hidden carbs in your diet that your not finding and it is keeping you from going into ketosis.

Are you over-eating or hitting your macro’s?

And it is possible your not quit there yet.

I eat less than 40 carbs a day,and around 120 G protein becose I lift heavy weight.I am not cutting or bulking.

Source of hidden carbs, highly unlikely.I eat very simple home made food.

Sounds like you have a handle on thing. Some people are fortunate enough to not experience keto flu . These are usually people that understand the body machine and keep their electrolyte levels in balance when the body is transitioning to a fat burner instead of glucose as the main fuel source. Sounds like you might be a fortunate one.:+1:

I got by with a very light dose of the Keto flu… but watch out on your diet and electrolytes… I was waken last night with nasty painful leg cramps.

I hope!

I drink alot more water and salt.I have this super high mineral content mineral water and I put half tea spoon of salt into it and drink that 3 times a day.

While that explains the electrolyte side effects,I expected atleast some acetone breath or something.I am very surprised by how “boring” and smooth this transition is going so far.Probably becose I am young and lift weights, luckily I am not overweight or diabetic.

I plan to convince my fructose addict mom to go keto too.She is old, overweight and pre-diabetic.If she doesnt get much side effect too, that will probably mean the side effects have something to do with genetics.

I had a pretty smooth transition too. The biggest thing was that my cardio workouts were negatively affected for the first 6 weeks while I became fat adapted.
One thing to consider is that your body could be converting all that protein into sugar through gluceogenesis. A traditional diet is 80% fat and only 10-15% protein. Too much and your body turns it into sugar and that could be keeping your out of true ketosis.

I was lucky enough to not experience many negative side effects when I began keto. I drink a ton of water, add salt to most foods, and take a magnesium supplement. However, on the evening of day 5, I did experience a bout of flu like symptoms. I felt feverish, weak, and achy. By the next morning, those symptoms had resolved, but for the first half of day 6, I had a slight brain fog. After all that, it was smooth sailing. Hopefully you don’t get the “keto flu” at all. It doesn’t happen to everyone.
