Day 3 NSV

(Crystal) #1

Alright, I underestimated my willpower.

I wasn’t supposed to eat anything when I got home but I did. I had cream cheese with smoked salmon, keto brownies and then a TON of nuts and cheese. Oh and scrambled eggs in a ton of olive oil with cheese on top. Yes, I underestimated my willpower BUT I maintained my goal which was to stay to eating keto. I may have gone over my carb intake but highly doubt it as my first two meals were pretty light. My mom came home with baked goods that I WANTED SO BADLY! But I said no instead and just had another few keto brownies.

I thought I could avoid this, but alas I couldn’t. BUT I did stick to sticking with keto. So it’s the small progresses that count.

I really want to come to the point where I don’t binge eat at night nor eat any desserts but maybe I’ll try that tomorrow (probably not). I think that if I’m going to eat late at night (I eat in 6-8 hour intervals), I need to meal prep those late night meals too instead of eating everything in sight.

On another note, there were plenty of food that in the fridge that I really wanted but didn’t care for because they weren’t keto food so that’s some kind of progress - both mental and physical!

I’m still having cravings though…but maybe that’s just me wanting water

On day 3 it’s perfectly natural that you’re still craving carbs. It can take a week or two (sometimes longer) to get through carb withdrawal. Careful with nuts, they are often moderate in carbs and can add up quick.

I found I adjusted better by skipping “replacement” foods like keto brownies until after I was through withdrawal.

Sounds like you’re on the right track. KCKO

Thanks for the tip!

(Missy) #4

Are you binge eating because you’re hungry or is it more so out of habit maybe?

(Crystal) #5

I wouldn’t say habit but temptation

(Missy) #6

Instead of heading for the kitchen when you get home where all those tempting goodies might be, try going straight to the bathroom instead and brush your teeth. Finish off by swishing with some strong mouth wash. That might help curve your temptations since food usually tastes pretty nasty after brushing.

I’ll try that tomorrow. Thanks!
