Guessing you already have given up eating after dinner, right? That’s when I began being able to sleep thru the night. And that’s my motivation now to not give in to those late night temptations.

I love our air fryer! The only thing I make in it, however, is chicken wings. I use them to supplement a piece of meat to make a full meal. Worth it just for that. After they are done, I coat them in Franks Red Hot Sauce. Love their texture, fat level and spice!
I divorced that sucker shortly after starting keto (2019). I wouldn’t dream of weighing myself at home again. Chills me to think about it. I get weighed at the doctor’s and I can wait that long. I understand people who use it for accountability, though. I know by my appearance and clothes where I’m at.
Probably variety. Wrap it in bacon or side it with salmon. Salt is the seasoning for pure carnivore, but lots of meats have different flavors and there are different fats like tallow, ghee, duck fat. I’m new out of keto too but learning! I read a baconnaise recipe but saw you could also make it with butter. Maybe that?
@Fangs thank you I will take your advice and leave out the weight on that challenge. Last weight was after 8 days of PSMF (Jan. 8th) and all that struggling had gotten me about a pound of progress
Awhile ago we had lunch- eggs, bacon, leftover steak, cold precooked shrimp, fried queso fresco. Hubby asked me not to add carbs to his (wow, that’s a first). Afterward he said it was a fantastic lunch!
Good because he struggles with prostatic hyperplasia, pain there, and up all night to the bathroom. We haven’t seen a Dr. yet. This morning I looked up diets for it and sure enough, keto or carnivore brings about complete reversal of the condition. SURPRISE!!
So he wants to give it a try, take it slow. He accused me of “enabling” by cooking him potatoes, lol! But I’ll leave him to make his own decisions as always. The great thing with a great diet cure is that testing its effectiveness by adding something “bad” gives immediate results
I think you are right. I was keeping it simple… first time cornivore and I love simple. But I think next time I need to reduce the macroburger size and add chopped bacon and an egg or 2 on top.
Is curry powder and other spices carnivore? I am assuming not as they are from plants. But as the volume of spices is so low, with a Big Bang for buck, do carnivores use spices?
Weight continues to march southwards…nearly 4kg now in 8 days on carnivore.
I have also noticed that my skin is getting healed up much quicker than before. Is this a known benefit on carnivore?

I read “dirty carnivore” and that includes spices or herbs but I’m trying to stay away from them because I know there will be times when it’s beyond my control (that restaurant steak had pepper! ).

Hello everyone, it is so good to hear how well everyone has done this month. Unfortunately, for me, I have decided carnivore is not for me. I’ve been on and off of it for over two years: sometimes strict, sometimes carnivore adjacent, with some plain old keto in between.
I have found that my body just really doesn’t seem to like super strict carnivore. This month I was super strict, and I totally lost my desire to eat meat. It is very strange. I get hungry, but I don’t have a taste for anything, especially meat. It’s not that I’m finding meat repulsive, but it’s gotten to the point were I just don’t look forward to a meal of it even though I’m hungry. The scary thing is that my brain is thinking that I need a month or two of vegetarian fare. WTH!
So, my carnivore experiment is at an end, and I am going back to keto. I am also going to try a lower fat, higher protein version of keto. I just don’t think my body wants the extra fat right now, and as @Fangs likes to say, we need to listen to our bodies.

I got my latest blood results back from him last night.
In that year he has taken my total cholesterol from 475 to 318 ,hdl from 43 to 70 triglycerides from 250 to 97
Fasting Glucose from 121 to 97
Fastingn isulin from 10.8 to 5 all with no medications
The only thing I’m failing at i from where im standing is weight loss I started a year ago with him at 146’147. I got to a low of 134 then started gaining as i found my carnivore hunger I’m currently 155 so about 9lbs up for the year…but 21 pounds up from my lowest…
Funny thing is although some clothes feel tighter most still fit.
When I started this process it was about losing weight getting off meds and moving away from a pre-diabetic and fitting my old clothes…
Strange thing happened in my last year as much as I was almost consumed by my weight now its more about keeping to plan yes I’m up in weight but I dont want to go back to dieting to lose it…I’ve got an appointment this week with Dr C so I’ll be interested to see where this journey leads for the next 12 months.
I am still very open to advice! This has been a 25 year battle that I WILL win one of these days!!
Yes, most times I’m done eating by 1 pm. That occasional third meal I may eat around 5 pm. But it’s maybe once a week.
Day 31 just beef ribs. It’s been a busy day of running spontaneous errands for my in-laws. I didn’t have time to eat and then I ate too much! But they were very delicious ribs from my full cow, made in the air fryer. I couldn’t eat that last one. I didn’t do my sleep journal this morning but like I said above, not great. Same supplements I’ve been taking, in bed at 10:30. Up to pee at 11:30, 12:30, 3:30, 6:30, then up for the day at 8:30. Lots of tossing and turning all night. I think I’m going to stop taking the cortisol manager for awhile since it only actually helped the one night.
According to that chart I’m relaxed. Coffee, cream, eggs, some cheeses. Not using herbs, sweeteners or pepper. Drinking 0-carb alcohol.
I hope I’ll still see benefits, because I’m enjoying this. It’s simple, fulfilling and enjoyable. I feel leaner. Only day 18, don’t shoot me yet.
Dirty carnivore is when one eats plant carbs as in food. Like they have a pile of broccoli with a steak. In other words, cheaters mostly that won’t hold the plan entirely but do mostly carnivore but will eat plants. Also still using things with sweeteners. All sweet goes in carnivore but many will keep diet soda and more and that just is not on plan.
Relaxed carnivore allows some spices and some condiments like a bit of mustard if you do well on it. Many keep a little spice and condiments til they get further into carnivore and find they mostly don’t need them anymore, they drop them. That is the way I went. I used some spices, bit of garlic powder, some chili taste and taco spice for meat and did fine on it when I started, longer on plan I dumped them cause they didn’t suit me anymore. Now I rarely use anything.
Milk is ‘kinda ok on carnivore’ but it is a higher sugar content, so cream is preferred but alot of carnivores will still drink milk. Not for me, never liked milk any way LOL
Honey is never carnivore. That milk and honey that Saladino put on that chart picture is when ‘he decided’ he wanted milk and honey and put it on that image…boo for him doing that
Think of carnivore as meat/seafood fish and fowl with a tiny bit of spices/herbs if you do well with that but it ‘a shake for taste’, a teaspoon of mustard on some ham kinda thing…it can’t be your food…a taste is not part of your meal other than taste ya know.
so just chatting some carnivore stuff we go thru as we do the plan.

Me too… I am staying with tea and coffee, I still have sweeteners (but trying to reduce them to retrain my taste buds). So I am thinking I might try a few spices and see how I go. I am pretty confident they won’t affect me much.
Looks like we have a few new to carnivore… i am loving it right now, but there is definitely a novelty factor here, so I reserve full judgement for a while.

@Fangs Me either. We used to get raw milk in VA and I didn’t drink it, too high in carbs. I’d get the raw hwc though. Yum.
@VirginiaEdie I get the burnout factor. As much as I want results yesterday, I need to go somewhat easy so it can soak into my lifestyle. Two years is a long time! Ya done good! And who knows, you may be back!

Hi guys I went offline and off anyway. I am not surprised this time came: I can’t even imagine eating meat for a while so vegetarian times for me. I am not a vegetarian as it surely won’t last long (I expect some days). I call myself one if it’s over 1 year, highly unlikely without special apocalyptic situations.
So I am a tad heavier on dairy now. Eggs too, obviously. Still not much into either so it will be a tad challenging even if I allow everything. It will be an interesting experiment, I don’t actually know what I will do without many rules. I have an educated guess but can’t possibly know the exact style I will end up with if days pass and I still don’t want meat at all.
This was my first such day, in the last days I did what I could, my pork consumption plummeted, it was hard to eat even the tiny amount, the roasted turkey wing was helpful yesterday, no special joy but kind of nice and easy to eat. Quark helped too but it means I don’t want quark for a while now…
So I already introduced non-meat items and managed to get bored of them in one day… Oh my. I will survive somehow
I have no appetite and eating problems now so that’s cool. I had to solve that problem and I did but I will be stricter and stricter I suppose as that makes sense. I will try to keep my lunches non-existent or small for reasons and carnivore too (the dinners won’t be like that anyway, I have my limits). So eggs with dairy and maybe some spice. I have ideas. It’s useful, I could use more meatless and interesting carnivore recipes. I typically dislike very cheesy things so at least I won’t have too many possibilities, that’s very tiresome when I experiment…
I will make that buttery sour and often spicy spread (paprika, obviously :D) that is very popular and supermarkets keep that. Never made it myself but I surely can and it will be better for me than the store-bought one. I usually need only a bit so that aren’t so useful anyway. Well, that thing and my sponge cakes will be a match made in Heaven! They aren’t so good with mere butter.
My last workout went well. I didn’t improve in January except now, I will raise the weights for my biceps, triceps and chest exercises, yay!
We have some (tiny!) snow. The weather is usually nice, a bit windy but this is a windy place especially in winter.
I drank more coffee than before, it happens… I will be careful not to go back to that. I often has stronger days but then I am back to not drinking any until sunset. I don’t really enjoy it anymore though it may be the brands I use now, one is okay though not good but the other is crappy. Sometimes I wonder I should throw it out but nope, maybe it being bad helps me not drinking much coffee. Unfortunately it’s drinkable mixed with the other one… My coffee drinking urge is a strong opponent. It doesn’t need actual joy, just lack of suffering and it still scratches the itch…
But I knew it will be a loooooooooooooong battle. Or war but that’s a too serious word… But it will be long.
What. Interesting. That’s nowhere carnivore to me, that’s keto. I would think dirty is when I eat stew so use some onions… Or eggs in purgatory. Oh well, I suppose people don’t have fixed definitions especially for that not-carnivore-but-somewhere-close thing
I am not even sure about my OWN “carnivore-ish” definitions, I had thoughts about allowing sweeteners in it, I was against that (mostly harmless but NOPE, I need training, along those lines. and I actually could live without sweeteners for weeks at a time) but I just can’t stomach enough eggs without sweetness all the time. Sigh. Unfortunate thing when I am forced to eat sweets to keep my carbs low but I always had that since I tried keto the first time. Meat and lack of plants helped a lot especially when it was novel but I have my harder times. Oh well.
By the way I finally run out of erythritol and didn’t order more. Now I only have xylitol and a few kinds of sugars for sweets but it should be fine. I don’t think I need sweets most of the time, just desserts and I have plenty of wonderful unsweetened desserts. I have kefir and the usual sour cream now I always loved sour even more than sweet. I don’t have sour items on my strictest style, maybe that’s not for me for long… But it didn’t work anyway. I like my mustard but it has erythritol and I just stopped eating it lately. Very rarely I try a bit but it’s mostly in the past now except for my rare fried sausage, that pretty much requires it, it’s traditional and a very good combo anyway. But if I make my own not overly fatty sausage, that won’t need it nearly as much.
Sigh. I like cleaner things but I don’t seem to work that way. And part of my likes to do things not 100%…
Oh well, we will see what will happen. I just don’t want to bother with things now. But I can’t stop my brain and I need to eat something so it’s never that easy.
I saw a ribeye in the supermarket… I eat for 3.5 days with that money… And it’s just a single steak that couldn’t even satiate me… Oh well. I don’t even eat meat right now and I have some beef perfect for stew in my freezer.
Oh yep, February is my stew month, I decided it weeks ago. I ate stews so long ago and I like them. As I eat vegetarian now, we start with egg stew tomorrow (even if it’s January, I decided I won’t bother with month boundaries anymore, it just causes extra stress, not much but still)! A bit carby (onions and if Alvaro makes it, tomato but it’s still mostly eggs. oh and obviously copious amounts of paprika) but I won’t eat a ton of it.
Little sweets and yolks related rant. Even less carnivore than the previous things.
There was the international chocolate cake day this week and I already planned to make my sponge cake muffins so I made some. Alvaro ate it gladly but then he told me he dislikes sponge cakes and my overly eggy sweets to begin with. I was a tad insulted as it was an awesome and very normal chocolate cake, only 66% egg, it was even sweetened so I didn’t really understand his problem. If I made a cake for myself, it would be loads eggier… Sigh. He liked my totally random “I don’t want to use dairy, what could possibly go wrong without” icing and yep, it was good.
So he is a problematic one. Desserts are often eggy, it’s where eggs shine… Among other dishes. Eggs are just amazing. I have no idea why people add all the flour and sugar but all sponge cakes are quite eggy (all normal, traditional ones. I saw questionable recipes and vegans consider their weird things sponge cakes too despite real sponge cakes require a lot of whipped eggs)…
Oh well. And he eats many eggs, he just hates them in his sweets galore. No idea why.
Sometimes I totally understand people who are very different from me but it’s hard when it’s related to eggs. And I understand normal people don’t eat 100% egg sponge cakes, I do. I even add something to mine sometimes. In moderation. Not going below 90% egg or something if possible. But here I went out of my way to make it only 66%, it simply didn’t need more non-egg, it had a great texture and everything. It was even sweet, for Heaven’s sake…
But the argument happened later when I made a surprisingly nice carby sweets for him (old recipe but it’s millet based and very tasty, it reminds me of a quark based dessert that is extremely popular here. it’s sour! I love sour as we know especially lemon and this thing uses a lot of it). And added a yolk as it makes it better. When I still ate that stuff, I added 4 for mine (except I never made such a big one, I was a low-carber). And he chose this time, the 56th or whatever time I did this to express his negative opinion about the single yolk in the whole huge thing.
I will read back later and do my best to be scarce. I will be back soon I suppose. I just don’t ever want this horrible effort to make my hunger go away when doing carnivore. It was very much not fun and an impossible challenge. And I have variety, I don’t know why I have this boredom of most food sometimes

Think I forgot to post last night. I read through all posts yesterday and must have got distracted lol
Well yesterday I was up doing stair runs to warm through for CrossFit. It was apairs workout and it was horrible. Both my daughter and I hated it. Not usual for me as it was high cv but the time caps on each exercise just didn’t give you enough time to get on the the second exercise on each round. So we started on the air bike because we couldn’t face doing it at the end lol 60cals between us and it was flippin hard. I hate the air bike more than anything else in CF! In the 5 min cap we did 55 between us and never got to the box step overs with a weight plate! Then we moved to the 1k rower/ box jumps and I tugged my hip on my first couple of pulls on rower. Very painful so that put kywash on the remaining exercises managed the bike but then back to a rower so just did some jumps while Sian did her bit and on to ab mat setups. So food yesterday was chicken sauted in butter and last 2 sirloin steaks from the sirloin block and had some cheese and 2 hard boiled egg. Didnt feel 100% all day but couldn’t actually put my finger on anything that was wrong (apart from painful hip) Off to bed at 7.15pm as I wanted to give myself a window of opportunity to get some hours sleep. Quite a bit of discomfort throughout the night and up for loo a number of times but I did get some sleep in between as I was having my crazy dreams every time I dropped off.
Up this morning and stair runs done which eased off my hip. Happy with that as I was struggling to bend down to put my socks on lol by time I was halfway through the stair running I was managing to touch my toes easily at the bottom of each flight!
Sat outside for about an hour in the sunshine this morning which was lovely. No wind so even though it was only 2° it felt warmer than the 11° we had yesterday. We are due storm Curry later today according to forecast and I can see the neighbours bamboo moving a bit more than when I was sitting out.
Sauted chicken n melted blue stilton for brunch. Quite nice and better than just chicken on its own. Guessing I am relaxed carnivore as I eat cheese but I must admit I am going off a lot of the cheeses I used to enjoy. Funny how taste changes so much from week to week on carnivore woe. I used to love stilton but it tastes icky at the mo. Also cheddar and gouda, going off both. Cheddar goes from loving vintage & mature to suddenly tasting icky
@Alecmcq think you brought up the spices n such topic. I don’t add salt to anything but when I feel the need I will eat bacon with my meat just to add the salt. I remember @Carnivoor Vic used to have raw egg yolks used liked a sauce. It always looked so nice the pics he posted.
