Interesting about new carnivores not eating enough to get fat adapted on the transition from other ways of eating.

The 26th of January was Australia Day. That’s why I’m posting the picture. Through a marketing initiative a food has been linked to the national public holiday. The winner of the marketing wrestle was Australian lamb. I had this lamb rolled shoulder roast in the deep freeze. Look at the date on it, 26 Jan, Australia Day. This had to be.

So, I seared the roast in a hot iron pan on all sides. Then I dropped it in the 1970’s slow cooker that we got from the second hand shop. It was ā€˜spiced’ with some pink salt and gently bathed and immersed in beef bone broth, like Cleopatra would have descended into her bath of ass milk (milk from asses is A2, I think). It bathed and cooked and was turned throughout an 8 hour day - I had already had a scotch fillet steak garnished with a strip of middle bacon for breakfast - so the lovely aromas did not tempt me.

Mrs. Bear did not think this ā€œCleopatra lambā€ project would work. It was delicious. I ate (over ate?) a kilo of lamb (2.2lbs)! I felt like a full fat lion after scarfing a gazelle.

Did you then lose it?

#525

I remember KD saying she gained around 10 but lost it doing her PSMF or watching fat intake and lost it all but I read alot of posts so I can’t always be sure I am repeating the correct info sometimes HAHA

@Azi
can you post that link to your meat/milk again? I backtracked to find it but ain’t finding it. I would like to read cause that one is not on my radar…thanks!!

@FrankoBear
I just smiled so big when I read you hounded down 2.2 lbs at least of that lamb roast!! THAT is how one comes into this plan for healing, you eat and enjoy and are a happy zc camper at that point!! Even if not new to plan, when that meat is in front of us and our bodies want it, you have at it!! So Mrs B didn’t think the Cleopatra lamb would be great, well darn you are becoming a carnivore chef for sure…love it!

---------all good in my zc land :sunny:

needing to hit a shrimp sale, only 1 bag left in freezer, I don’t like that but nothing around yet but when it kicks in I am loading up!

today is NYT Strip steaks with pork chops. covered and done.

Jan. is fading fast now, our Feb is gonna rock quick at us and can we all imagine in a year from now when we start our next Jan. thread…all the great changes we will have? I know I still see a bright carnivore future for me :100:

Good morning all. I haven’t posted too much lately due to very busy work/life these days. I can say that I am still 100% carnivore for the month of January. It’s hard to say just how much better I feel both physically and mentally. I’m not sure what my weight loss is as of right now, I started keto in November ā€˜21 and joined the carnivore challenge on Jan 1. What I do know is that I have a closet full of clothes that I can no longer wear because they are WAYYYYY too big. Every day I have people asking me how much weight I’ve lost and how I’ve been able to do it. I wake up with energy that last the entire day, I’ve had joint pain and inflammation issues for several years and that part alone has improved in ways that blow my mind. My best friend asked me the other day if I’d had something done to my knee because my very noticeable limp that I had for years has almost been eliminated completely. I told him that all I needed to do was change what I was putting into my body. There’s no way I could ever let myself go back to that. My plan going forward is to continue carnivore but will most likely add back my morning coffee and some spices that I enjoy. January has been all about CLEAN. I am officially a BELIEVER!!!

Amazing post - so good to hear from all of the new carnivores doing so well on this way of eating.

#528

Loved your post Will!
Key being you can ā€˜add back’ a tad but key to this is SLOW and easy. Add something a bit and keep with that thing you add back, as in spices on meat etc and then SEE what it does to you. All we have IS ONLY how we feel on food to make this journey right for us!! Coffee is fine but only ADD that. No spices. See how coffee does for you personally but if you add it back, if you get ā€˜some weirdo taste’ and feel it is ā€˜off’ to you dump it fast…never a need to go back and make an addiction that is gone come back ya know :slight_smile: Take it slow if you think back…very slow. You know what ya got now, don’t backward fast to lose count of what is effecting your body on a personal note! I think you are doing fantastic and send ALL those clothes to donation and get new, caused on ZC you are a WHOLE NEW YOU and you should embrace it point blank!! A new future of health to be focused on vs what you left behind :slight_smile:

@Septimius
It is a great thrill to read how well others are progressing! We did it, we felt it, we know it but to get that new person’s perspective on health improvements their way only cements in me my journey!! Cool!

Crappiest ever night last night. My head was between the garden and what job will the prison offer me! Ended up going downstairs about 10.30pm and watching first dates for 45 mins then back to bed. Took a couple of herbal sleeping tabs … they don’t really work at keeping me asleep but after about an hour I do start to drift off for a while. I had to be up at 4.45am for work and still managed to get up 4 times for a wee before alarm went off! Did the stair runs but took them steady Arghhhh

hey ho got to work and BP had spiked from taking it at 6am which I guessed it would. Only in till 10am took BP again and still at the same spiked level.

Got home and had half n hour sleep (heaven, straight out like a light) then took Raymond to Lichfield to the afternoon Tea dance. Had a lovely afternoon but left slightly earlier than usual so I could drive back in the daylight after the school run and before the rush hour. Good run back with no traffic issues thankfully as I was feeling a bit weary to say the least.

Brunch before the Tea dance was 3 slices of ham (finished it off) with 2 fried eggs on top. I think pic may have been yesterday ham n eggs lol.
Dinner 2 sirloin steaks (2 left from the block for tomorrow) and some dutch gouda and cheddar. Poss have a hard boiled egg later before bed.

Yes, I lost it last year putting me back at my starting point. I’m currently broken up with the scale through the month of January and February so don’t know where I stand :joy:

My sleep twin. Yes, worst night sleep I’ve had in a long time. Full update below.

Day 30!!!: this one was easy. Someone posted a leg of lamb a few days ago on Instagram and it looked like :fire:. I remembered that I actually had 2 in my freezer from last year, so got one out to thaw. It was all thawed and ready for today, so instead of listening to the very clear and precise directions I was given, I do as I always do and threw it in the air fryer and hoped for the best :joy:. Worked well, though I did need to put it back in a couple times to get the middle less than raw. It was very tasty, I ate the whole thing in two meals and have a beautiful bone for my next bone broth batch. Sleep last night is less of a good report. I have been taking that same set of supplements that gave me the most beautiful night sleep just a few nights ago, but sadly have not been able to replicate it. I was up literally every hour last night. It was awful. Fortunately, school got canceled after I was already up and working, so I finished up my morning activities and went back to bed for almost 2 hours. I’m guessing the fact that I’m sick (strep) may have just gotten my body out of whack? It felt last night like it does when I have salt, but I didn’t have any all day. I even thought maybe the burger patties may have been salted, so when I was up this morning, I checked, but it says just beef! :woman_shrugging: I have not been taking anything for the strep because my medicine is honey and I wanted to get through the 30 days without. It hasn’t been a bad case at all. I don’t feel great, but definitely not terrible. I attribute that to how clean I’ve eaten this month! My daughter was much more sick. I never even took an hour off work (I work remote). This 30 days has been so easy. I probably should have waited on my supplements experiment until after this 30 days. I am planning to do it another 31 days (to the end of February).

Ferocious February?
Fix Myself February?

Today is day 17 on carnivore, first 11 days of the year I did PSMF. Bad mojo!
Sorry to be absent for a couple days but time has been tight. I’ve started writing and been interrupted a couple times.

I’m doing so well. Not into weighing (because if the numbers go up, I’m very fragile) but I put on a coat that has always been tight and now it’s loose. So something good must be happening!
I’m starting a carnivore challenge on fb on the 1st so I’ll weigh then. Better pics too. (I’ll have to exercise the discipline to take a pic before all the food is gone!)
Out to lunch at the brewery today. Rib eye and mineral water. I really have lost my taste for beer. Expensive steak but the beer would be more expensive! And half the steak is still in the fridge.
Disaster pants has improved but I bought some ox bile today anyway. Now I have bile and lipase for if things get bad again.
Most of my family had their gall bladders removed, so I’m thrilled to know how to keep mine healthy by eating enough fat!
Tonight I finished up the beef liver from earlier this week.
Thanks for being here everybody. I love this thread!

(Judy Thompson) #535

I’m with ya KD!

@VirginiaEdie
I’m way behind in answering questions!
I’d been veg for 8 years when I started sprouts and raw vegan. I went to a health institute in Boston for 2 weeks, took my dad, and both of us improved drastically. I enjoyed it greatly. And it is truly keto. When I’ve tried to do it again though, it has never had the same results. But if I ever went back to being vegetarian, that’s what I’d have to do to come anywhere near the benefits we’re getting on carnivore - because it is almost ZC by definition.
And yes - it was a lot of work :slight_smile:

(Linda ) #536

How about ā€œfix it myself Febuaryā€

(Alec) #537

Beef rib bonanza! First food for 26 hrs…. Just not been hungry.

Edit: only managed to eat half of that… meat is so filling!

(Alec) #538

My first macroburger… I think I put in too much salt! I want some more flavour from something. Suggestions?
Cheers
Alec

@Azi
Thank you…I got it bookmarked now and will read soon. I love the oldie info…they were smart back then, somewhere along the ā€˜dieting advertising greed for profit’ did we truly lose sight of what real health should be and how we get that :slight_smile:

@Ketodaisy

would something like this help ya :star_struck: now idea if stuff like this works but I saw it and thought of you :slight_smile: I will be Lion with you in Feb. I think when one goes regular carnivore to Lion alot of changes happen still so…be interesting what longer term benefits come to you.

@FrankoBear
How about Ferocious Fix February…we will ferociously fix ourselves with carnivore :slight_smile: I am liking it FB…cool

@JJFiddle
You said: Not into weighing (because if the numbers go up, I’m very fragile) but I put on a coat that has always been tight and now it’s loose. So something good must be happening!
I’m starting a carnivore challenge on fb on the 1st so I’ll weigh then.

DON’T DO IT! Don’t weigh. Super congrats on your coat fitting so much better. I remember I had a wonderful military cut leather jacket that I couldn’t zip and one day I said, what the heck…and darn if it didn’t fit like a glove again :slight_smile: So I get your thrill on that, lol-------but what I mean is don’t weigh in for that next challenge you are starting…forget that damn scale point blank. I tell ya what to do…get yourself another tighter fitting clothing item you want to get into, you know one that is a bit uncomfortable and you would like to wear but want it a bit looser to fit well…USE THAT as your guide. Cause on carnivore you will become leaner and meaner without that scale moving, but your clothing will always show you true success on this lifestyle. Just think about it :slight_smile: That damn scale and a lb. down can be the ruin of so many of us.

In fact now that I said it to you, I am doing the same. I am getting this nice shirt I love that is a tad tight and using it for my gauge. Starting Feb when I do Lion with KD I will put on that shirt, gauge it and in 30 days I will put it on again and see :slight_smile: OK cool, I am not doing scale cause I am so over that darn thing also HA

-------today is pork chops and NY Strip steaks
day covered easy peasy.

SO COLD here I feel I ain’t gonna make it LOL
SO windy and that wind chill goes right thru me, plus being South I don’t have winter clothes, but that wind went right thru my little jacket when I ran up to the smokehouse store close to me fast this morning and they had NO ribs on the smoker. Ahhh, I was gonna buy a rack and pig out but sadly no…got pork chops instead which I like so that is good.

Typically falling asleep isn’t my problem, it’s staying asleep. Last night I fell asleep instantly at 10:30, but was up at 11:30, 12:30, 3:30, 6:30, then tossed and turned until 8:30.

#541

ok I will see if I got tips and tricks off the net to keep you asleep :crazy_face:

hey more we check there might be something that eventually works well :100:
