GUYS! Praise the Lord, I did it!!! I slept 6 hours straight last night!!! (Insert all the happy dances here). On a negative note, when I did wake up to pee and realized it, I was too excited to fall back asleep for the last hour I had to sleep
Clean Carnivore Crew, January 2022
Thatās awesome! That must be quite satisfying.
Good luck on the prednisone. Years ago my daughter got a really bad case of poison ivy on her face and she was put on prednisone. At the time she played piano and the prednisone gave her so much energy she played all of her pieces at warp speed. It was quite comical. I had to give her piano teacher a heads up when she had her lesson.
If I can give up diet coke, you can give up dairy! You can do it!
@Karen18, I love the outlaw tree. My husband and I like to watch British shows and frequently admire the beautiful old trees we see in some of the programs. There are no trees like that in Northern Virginia.
My husband is similar: one meal and one meal of leftovers is about all heās good for and then he needs something else.
@JJFiddle, being a sproutarian sounds like it was so much work! How was your health when you followed that diet?
Itās amazing what a difference dropping those last few grams of carbs makes. The same thing happened to me, but after my adjustment, my ability to eat more meat did increase.
Thatās pretty funny.
Can I play with you guys??
Iām Mary. Iāve been on the forum for a while but donāt post often. I started keto a couple of years ago, after Atkins was no longer āenoughā. Well, keto is no longer āenoughā either so here I am.
I started carnivore on Jan 16 at 215 and was 208 this morning. Although, at my age (nearly 60) itās not about the weight anymore - thatās just a good gauge. My knees donāt hurt as much and the blinding headaches I was getting from bingeing on sugar are gone (thank you!).
I plan to do 90 days then re-evaluate.
Pleased to meet you all and maybe Iāll post a little more often
6:00 straight through! Hallelujah!
I am joining in the celebration. I brought my kazoo.
Toot toot!
Female like Mimsy⦠we called her Rosie from Rosie and Jim⦠childrenās programme many years ago. She was very into her mum lol followed me around everywhere tapping her front paws on my heels x
@Ketodaisy i am sure we are in sync. I had a very good night last night too ⦠even better than the night before and I thought that was good⦠sure its the moon waning or maybe the 2 hard boiled eggs i had before bed. Anyway I woke at 1.30am then although I tossed and turned a little and thought I may need the loo i didnāt get up and decided to bite the lip and try and get back to sleep and off I went! I woke at 7am went to loo then back to sleep till just before my alarm went off at 8.30. Still having crazy vivid dreams but I am used to them. One thing I do when I get back from a loo trip in the night is rub some 4head across my brow and a little rub under my nose to keep the airways clear. It has eucalyptus in it and when I rub it over my brow it seems to relax my head and stop it from becoming too busy (which in turn stops me from getting to sleep). it is generally for headaches but I donāt tend to get them that often and the ones I got after my stroke seem to have stopped⦠yesss.
So I was up and stair running 100 flights before heading off to CrossFit. Felt good and enjoyed it and chatting to a number of people afterwards.
So got home a bit later because of chin wagging and brunch of sauted chicken w/o cheese was eaten about middayish, maybe slightly later. A bit of cheddar this afternoon and then 2 lamb chops and 2 fried eggs. Remembered the photo a bit late
I will have another 2 hard boiled egg before bed and see if i get another good night sleep.
One thing I have been doing lately and thats having a couple of cups of boiled water to drink in the evening instead of the pints of cold as it keeps me warmed up. The heating is off again almost as soon as it comes on in the early evening, just get too hot. It comes on about 5.30pm and is usually off by 6pm hahaha it is only set at between 16/18° as well! ⦠very cold here today though but that still doesnāt make me turn on the heating. I have to be freezing to turn it on. Trouble is if visiting anyone I have to wear lots of layers so I can keep removing items the warmer I get
Cute spelling KD! Mimsy is short for Mimosa here although I donāt think she remembers that. We read her hundreds of names until she responded. She loved both Mimosa and Mimsy.
Yay!!! Happy dance together!
Thank you for celebrating with me!!!
Welcome welcome! Weāre always happy to have new friends!
Day 27: meal one was lamb chops and bone broth jello. Meal two was a chuck roast steak lol.
Folks came to work on the kitchen this afternoon. I was glad we had the sous vide chicken. I have cheddar cheese they sell as wraps. A late lunch was 2 of those with chicken breast. Earlier, just 2 hard boiled eggs w with cheese melted on them. Tonight Iāll do the eggs again - lastnight I ate too many pork rinds and had some disaster pants in the morning, so better be careful with fat at night.
@Karen18 re cooler indoor temps - I read recently that to increase brown fat, reduce the house temperature by 5° (F). Looks like thatās what youāre doing. Good intuition!
Here is my pic for the day
If you could not discern the meats there is Elk heart, chicken liver and beef tongue and thymus. Man I love thymus, but is definitely my most expensive regular meats.
Had pork belly eggs and another one pound ribeye with cheese for dinner.
Looks like carnivores own the forum
Welcome.
I was like you, I did general low carb and hit into Atkins where the only part of Atkins I did SO well on was Induction phase and that Induction phase led me right to ZC.
I love reading your great results about your knees are better and probably all your joints are improving and I am sure NOT having those headaches have to be a blessing for sure!
I just turned 60. I feel so much better than my whole yrs in my 50s Happy you are doing well and keep on posting!
@Naghite
Great food pics!
What kind of cheese did you eat with your ribeye? Just eat it or melt it over the steak? Just curious cause it sounds delish
Carnivores reign LOL We got a wonderful group on this forum and I love when people āfind their wayā to zero carb and get improvements and sing the praises of this lifestyle!! Such a small population but lately I noticed so many more coming into this plan and finding those fab results they require!!
-------------Today is a busy day from the start.
So keeping eating very simple.
Have a Tbone steak for first meal later when home and then tonight I am doing a few chicken breasts to finish off the day.
Easy peasy Life cooking on this plan and meal prep and thought into it is so simple that it is a pleasure from a kitchen point of view to be zero carb!
Rock it out guysā¦we got a few days left til we fall into Feb.
I have been regularly eating pre sliced Jarlsberg cheese daily as snacks. Typically eating about 200 g per day or about 10 slices. Jarlsberg is lactose free which agrees with my tummy Since just pre sliced I tend not to eat with a meal , more like around the meal. Happy spouse day to all spouses.
Okay thanks, Iām getting some.
Since covid (August 21) my taste for dairy is way off, it mostly all tastes like metal. Not that Iāve ever eaten metal. Sour cream, which I love, is now out, along with cottage cheese (for egg bites), kefir, and buttermilk (for Bleu cheese dressing). I can still tolerate cream cheese, cheddar, queso fresco (you can fry that!) and hwc (thank God). But Iāve been wondering if the problem could be lactose. In which case - Jarlsberg!
The Delightful Duo: Cream cheese and HWC are my two dairy exceptions also. I would HATE to give up either. Iāve also found that when I feel physically famished, for no good reason, a fairly large amount of cream cheese will satisfy the panicky feeling and never affects the scales. I just feel better. Way better.
Day 28 Lion diet: meal one was cold leftover flank steak from my kidsā dinner. Meal two was a fresh flank steak. Sleep last night: Supplements: cortisol support taken in early afternoon and evening, (total of 600 mg ashwagandha, 400 mg rhodiola rosea root extract, 200 mg l-theanine). 200 mg 5-htp and 400 mg magnesium glycinate taken at 9. In bed at 10:16, with earplugs, on back with prayer and deep breath. Fell asleep instantly. Up at 12:30 to pee. Woke at 3 thinking it was morning. Tossed and turned until 4, got up to pee. Back to bed until alarm went off at 5:10. Very sleepy when typing this, 15 minutes after waking. I also think Iām getting a little sick. I have a stuffy nose and what keeps feeling like blisters in my mouth and throat, but then theyāll come and go. Itās odd.
I started reading another carnivore book last night this one written in 1856 ⦠The Philosophy of the stomach. His diet he was meat and milkā¦! But back then pasteurized milk wasnt a thing so way more healthy probably than what we buy in stores todayā¦
He was against eating any plants or condiments reason being that they alter your bodies natural appetite and give us a fake appetite to make us eat more⦠at the time of his writing he had been on his animal diet for 2 yearsā¦he started by doing 6 months on milk and the occassional hand full of almond nuts then moving over to meat and milkā¦interesting to me yet another carnivore from history that says donāt eat salt.
Interesting.
I only add salt to water if I have been fasting for more than a few days, and then to pork belly (to help create the crackling skin) and to thymus. I never add salt to any other meal. I also have never added almost any spices though to meals throughout my life, so I may be more of an exception than the rule. Regardless, little to no salt works for me (as far as I know anyway).
