Cheryl's 90 Day Carnivore Challenge: Started on Nov 01 going through to Feb 29, 2020

(Mark Nelson) #82

@Fangs I want to directly say that I appreciate each and every word you took the time to type. The directness is very much appreciated and pulling my covers so to speak to wake me up to the realities of getting started on the right foot is welcomed.

I am committed to this (after all I did just buy $2000 worth of grass fed/finished beef!) and one of the main reasons I joined this specific thread is for accountability.

So thank you!

Yesterday’s eats:

bone broth (homemade)
ground beef with heart
pork rinds
liver
brains
salmon
head cheese
and lots of fats

#84

Thanks for understanding where those thoughts came from

It truly boils down to what do you want and what are you willing to do to get it. You know, usual stuff out there we all hope to say and mean!

You got this.

It is all a step in a journey for all of us.

(Daisy) #85

Yesterday: hmm let me think!
Bone broth, sardines and some well aged cheese for lunch
2 eggs and some pork jowl bacon for dinner. Had never heard of it before.
Weighed in and took measurements this morning. Here’s the comparison from last week to this:

#86

All better today?

(Daisy) #87

Seem to be, thank you for asking!

#88

Daisy I love your post and those numbers you are showing!

Carnivore is treating you nice!

yesterdays food was

6 oz top sirloin steak
1 s/b chicken breast
1 small cheeseburger patty

In the OH SO NOT HUNGRY mode. It was all I could do to handle that bit for the day. I am just going with the flow and see if I get ramped up again needing more food yet or just leave it alone and eat a little here and there.

Loving this challenge!

Wow! Everyone is doing well! It’s been a good week!
Fang, do you think I need to create a new thread for Week 2? Or do you think staying here is fine for the duration?

#90

I think we are fine for the duration…we all are checking in and chatting along so…why not just stay put, if you agree

Hello and happy Saturday!
My morning check in. I did well yesterday sticking only to grass fed beef, some grass fed butter, a few cups of beef bone broth and pork rinds for snacking.

Coffee and water were the liquids I took in with a total of 2 tablespoons of half and half and no sweeteners all day.

For record keeping, I don’t know my weight yet, but I’ll get that when I go to one of my partners tomorrow.
I’m only measuring my waist for this and as of this morning it’s 48.5 inches.

Also I did a morning blood ketone measure and I’m not producing any measurable ketones as of this morning.

As a side note, I accidentally took my morning does of magnesium twice (500mg per doses). Oh boy not good… lesson re-learned.

(Mark Nelson) #92

Didn’t see your measuring post before I did my tiny version of it. Rock on Ketodaisy!!! Love the mutual support

(Daisy) #93

Haha what kind of magnesium are you using?
The only kind that doesn’t cause me tummy trouble is magnesium glycinate.
And thanks! I’m feeling great, looking forward to continuing progress!

I am an instant gratification kind of gal. I do great for the first week or two, then when, for some strange reason I’m not down 30 lbs and have a perfectly toned body, I get frustrated and give up. I really feel like this time is going to be different. This revelation of abstainer vs moderator has made a 180• shift in my mindset. I am super pumped. And I feel like carnivore is going to be the perfect method to reach my goals!

(Daisy) #94

Yesterday was bone broth, pork jowl bacon and a little cheese for lunch. Then I started a pork roast in the instant cooker before going to revival. It needed restarted after the first hour and I gave my husband instructions on how to restart it. He said it wasn’t doing what it was supposed to, but I figured it probably did. To my very very dismay, it wasn’t. My pressure cooker is broken :sob::sob::sob: so, I had sausage and eggs for dinner and the roast is in the oven for dinner tonight. Sams club had a one day sale of the $130 instant pot for $69. I put it in my cart, but wanted to discuss with the hubby before buying it. By the time I talked to him at 2 pm and went to check out, they were sold out :sob::sob::sob: so I am heartbroken! I use that thing every week, for either bone broth or dinner.

@Ketodaisy I’m using “Nature’s Life Magnesium Capsules” 500mg. It contains Magnesium Oxide, Citrate and Malate plus Vitamin B-6. I had horrible leg cramps and tried multiple different types of magnesium for over a year until I started using this and the cramps have all but disappeared.

(Daisy) #96

Yes, I get the cramps too and suffer from restless leg syndrome. I tried various magnesium sources, including oxide and citrate, but they both gave me tummy distress. My sister suggested glycinate and that was the perfect fix! Leg cramps gone and no tummy trouble! Almost no cramps or RLS for the last year until I just switched to carnivore. I have suffered a good bit from both in the past week. I’ve increased my magnesium by 50% of what I was taking and it helps, but I still got cramps last night. I will wait it out and hope it improves soon! I’m loving everything else about carnivore

#97

I definitely understand this. I have to abstain vs. moderate. When I realized it was a real truth in my life I hated it but then I realized I best work a plan that captures that truth easier…like eat up all the meat/seafood and some dairy I can get LOL

#98

Mag oxide is not very well absorbed. When you’re out consider going to something else.

(Mark Nelson) #99

Yup, I’ve read the research and I spent over a year trying different forms of magnesium out from malate only for 2 months, citrate only for 2 months other combinations and this particulate combination of oxide, citrate and malate with the b-6 is the only one I’ve had success with.

Bodies are wierd!

That being said, I’ve never tried glycinate so that holds some interest for me

(Daisy) #100

This is the one I use  I was using 2 a night, now in the last 4 days, I’ve upped it to 3. My sister takes 4.
