Cheryl's 90 Day Carnivore Challenge: Started on Nov 01 going through to Feb 29, 2020

Yes, key is planning when events etc. happen.
Those are some of the best tips I learned from others. Eat til full before an event and if longer etc. bring food with you if needed. These tactics got me thru a lot of stuff in my change of eating. Smart!!!

Pork rib…was it the big old country style. The big old fatty ones? OMG I love those but I am now pulling away from pork more for some reason. Taste thing for me now I guess but a big old pack of country ribs is sounding good again!

(Daisy) #423

Yeah, it was the big ribs that aren’t attached to the bone. I got it on markdown. It was super fatty, a little too fatty for my liking.
I’m pulling away from pork myself. It’s just not agreeing with me very much. I just couldn’t pass the markdown. Bought the salmon on markdown too, it was so delicious!!! I realized when I ate it that I need more salmon in my life!!

#424

too fatty…oh come on HAHA but I get it. So you are the same, finding that pork is now more off our eating list than on it? I get that.

I do pork now when I really want a taste change. When that beef I love gets a tad old, boom, some super crispy cooked pork chops, I love them and then don’t want to see them again for another 3 months!

a good markdown! I am the same. I grab up those when I can.

Salmon is pricey out there. I don’t do fish, never liked it but family does and I am always sad at the prices on good fresh salmon. ugh. Markdown on that also…you are doing good!!

The farmer next door slaughtered a sheep. They are well fed pastured sheep. I drive past them daily. Sometimes I see a fox sneak into their paddock. I got some frozen leg portions and a big bag of ribs.

Tonight I ate the ribs. Just cooked them on medium heat in an iron pan with some pink salt.Lamb fat is an acquired taste but culturally appropriate for Australia. There are ribs left over. I’ll eat them cold tomorrow, if I feel hungry.

Lost 2 inches off my waist measurement since last week.

(Mark Nelson) #426

Mine too! I’ve got 1 1/2 GF/F T-bones to munch on before heading over at 11:30 to do setup and get prepared for the MC duties.

CORRECTION!
Two days ago I put down that I only ate 1/2lb of GF/F Ground beef. Turns out it was 1lb!
I’m so used to making 1/4lb burgers that I forgot I’ve recently switched to making 1/2lb burgers!

Yesterdays intake was
back coffee
80to 100 oz of water
1/2lb burger
12 to 14oz t-bone steak
6 oz of pot roast
1/4 stick of GF/F butter for dipping my plain pork rinds in.

I was at a meeting last night where I hadn’t seen people in two weeks and got asked if I was losing weight again.

Ego boost for sure.

Great job @Marknel! Meant to say that this morning and got sidetracked at work lol…

Today’s food: bone broth, at the party, I had 3 boneless buffalo wings and a little bit of lunch meat out of a sandwich. Then I left the party and had 8 oz of chuck steak :joy:
For dinner, I finished off my liver pate, then had some ground beef with added beef fat and a chicken leg.
Still having digestive issues, even with super cutting out salt today. I’m going to still back off the salt though because it’s been dehydrating me and I really didn’t miss it much today!

#428

Hi all. Brand new to the forums.

You can blame Marknel for bringing me here, it’s all his fault.

I’m on day #3. Also had a Christmas party today, I had some pieces of truly disgusting chicken and I was bad and put a dollop of sour cream on them to make them palatable. Then, when I got back to work, I ate 2 sausages.

Tonight, I’m trying to decide between a hamburger or making a pot roast. Hmmmm

Anyway… Hi!

(Daisy) #429

Welcome Rella!! I’ll be super happy when this holiday season is over! Lol

#430

very cool. doing fine!!

not a lamb fan. I tried it a bunch but it is an acquired taste to love it. I can eat it  but I don’t love it enough to eat it.

I bet tho that fresh meat was delish!

#431

Love it…you eat up all that burger you need

That is wonderful. It is a great boost. Knowing how you are eating is giving results others can see. I bet you are feeling good also!! win/win

#432

HI Rella
3 days carnivore! Very cool!! So glad you are trying the plan.

hey that dollop of sour cream is truly not bad. It isn’t ‘ideal’ when starting but it does not mean you are bad by any means!

Welcome to the forum. Hold strong and keep the carnivore faith. Great benefits will be coming your way :sunny:

#433

Welcome to you Rella!

Yesterday’s eats:

salmon
55% ground beef with heart
pemmican
beef liver
bone broth
bacon
fats

#434

Does pemmican have fruit and nuts in with the dry meat?

I love that sheep are mini ruminants, so can be managed for soil health in areas where cattle can not. They produce wool and in some cases dairy (Tuscanny). We grew up eating sheep, well once it’s meat, it is called lamb or mutton. And lamb chops are marketed as a national dish on our nationalism day.

It’s 2pm, the day after the ribs. I’ve just cooked breakfast; omelette in lamb fat. But I gotta say bacon wins over lamb fat when it comes to breakfast flavours.

#435

Daisy. Are you supplementing magnesium? If you are it may be worth adjusting the dose down for carnivore? Magnesium can be a laxative when taken orally, but it seems to be needed by many in keto. If it is a standard habit, it may be overlooked when experimenting with carnivore.

(Daisy) #436

I take magnesium glycinate at night, which is the only one that doesn’t upset my stomach. I haven’t taken it the last 2 nights, but I have to be careful. More than a couple days without it and my restless legs return with a vengeance!

#437

food yesterday was

1 lb. ribeye steak
1/2 lb. cheeseburger patty

I used a little salt on my steak. Yum. Trying to stop salt a bit but I wanted it. I have to say I sprinkled SO little compared to what I normally would use and I tasted that salt SO much. A little was more than enough. Ahh, ha, walk away from something a bit and when you go back it is a big taste in small portion. Ok, I like that
Give up or keep in a little? Still deciding.

Had to fight big cravings yesterday. My daughter went shopping with me and she wanted to check out the bakery, see what was different and new for the holiday…then hit the candy aisle and chips, then hit the ice cream aisle. She got some stuff. Wow. I wanted it all  I got that jealous factor of life being unfair I couldn’t eat all the crap I wanted and be ok doing just that. Thing is it isn’t ok for me!

So I had a big old talk with myself to get over that HAHA Put on the big girl panties and focus on why you do what you do and not on the fact that seasonal holiday stuff is gonna be in your face for a bit, I will live thru it~! I opt to live thru it.

I rarely shop long in those areas in a store. So with the lingering I just saw so much junk and I wanted it, oh well, life moves on. When I shop for the family I run into those areas of the store and buy very limited things fast…the perusing of all the stuff in the bakery was hard. All looks so pretty, so colorful, inviting and yummy and that sugar was calling my name LOL

survived it all. but some days can be annoying as heck

Thanks Mark, I like that 1/2 LB burger idea. I loved my butchers 6 oz burgers in the summer, so a homemade 8 oz burger would likely be outrageously awesome. ;).

Going to try that for Friday’s burgers, cause to-night it’s all Rib-eye.

#439

Does pemmican have fruit and nuts in with the dry meat?

I get mine from US Wellness Meats and they make several kinds. One version is without salt and another is with salt but NO fruit, nuts, etc. That’s the one I buy cause it’s just meat, fat and salt. The other version has fruit and maybe honey in it.

#440

That’s no good. :disappointed_relieved: Like I said, I spent most of my first month on carnivore in the bathroom and there is a blog online by a guy who had crohns and he spent 3 months there. I’m still a newbie at this so I don’t really know of any advice other than playing with the amount and/or kinds of fats but I hope you can get this figured out asap, hon. {{hugs}}

(Daisy) #441

Thanks Renee! Today has been super bad. 3 trips to the bathroom before 9 am…
