I can tell you it had me knackered
Carnivores March into March :)
@Karen18 @Ketodaisy What beautiful food photos! Loved reading these last few posts. @Alecmcq love that chicken with sauce, looks delectable!
@Karen18 your planting session sounded so pleasant. Beautiful to have nice soil and a warm day to put in a pretty border garden. Here, the soil’s not great and the deer and armadillos eat everything so I stick to containers on the deck. But hummingbirds should be in this week! Nights are still quite chilly, but I want to hang at least one basket of flowers and all the feeders. End of March we’re driving back to VA so anything I put out will die.
Yesterday I was so hungry! Had ham slices (it said no fat!) and eggs with my brother in law, then later a can of sardines, chicken quarters at lunch, the rest of the brisket at night (overcooked, fatty, yuck, and not much of it) then settled in with liverwurst and some nice cheese. I hate waking up starving at 3 am
Got up on the hour all night but this time the Immodium seemed to work, I may be transitioning out of this difficult phase.
Day 57. Lots of improvements.
Good morning to all!
I had a fascinating conversation with someone today regarding carnivore. I am a church secretary for a place that has a school as well. This week is Lutheran Schools’ Week for us and they do all sorts of “special” things for the faculty and staff. Of course, most of it revolves around food.
Monday: Qdoba for lunch
Tuesday: Popcorn Bar (all different types of popcorn)
Wednesday: Candy Bar (tons of candy)
Thursday: Granola Bar
Friday: Donut and Coffee Bar
Anyhoo, one of the people who was helping set up for today’s “Candy Bar” stopped in the office. I told her I’m a carnivore, and jokingly asked, “When will we have a Ribeye Bar?”
She proceeded to share with me that her brother is carnivore. He was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor 17 years ago. He decided to see what he could do to slow the growth/progression of the tumor. He made the decision to eat carnivore. His life expectancy was 5 years, it is now 17 years later. He has still had to undergo chemotherapy, but the tumor growth has largely been managed by what he eats.
I wholly and completely believe in this way of eating, but the evidence I see of success stories is completely behind the facade of the internet (until now). It’s not that I don’t believe those stories, it’s just amazing to meet someone who has experienced it firsthand in her own family.
I attempt to share my WOE with my coworkers who continuously complain about their aches and pains and being overweight, but it falls on deaf ears (for the most part). Today, a part of me felt vindicated with the story that woman shared (in front of my coworkers ).
Have a great day!
4pm, finally. I am borderline hungry since some time but it’s harder to do OMAD when I ate early and anyway, I usually need some properly hungry state to eat a bigger meal. Not like I have any idea how hungry my body really is, I rarely get proper hunger before I start to eat. Nowadays I just wait until I get weak. I have no appetite anyway (I love my food but don’t want to eat it yet) so I keep waiting but it won’t be long now.
I should resume my workout already. I only did the biceps exercise and I got significantly stronger, YAY! Maybe I will skip a workout day or two (that’s a week) when I don’t seem to get better for a while… All the 2 breaks lately did good to me and I was even a bit sick in the first case!
Snugglepie is still here, she found the armchair just for the cats. So she learned not to meow all the time when not in the center of attention… Good. We didn’t find the probably owner yet.
It’s day #3 and I lost the lingering thoughts about certain carbier stuff (like fruits, obviously, as always. we have great ones in the fruit bowl, I see them all day. but I don’t need them or really desire them, I just know they are good. I am well trained enough that it doesn’t even annoy me a lil bit. The first months of 2022 was too wild, I better use the remaining time until June well. so it’s my more determined state and I actually need it). I like all my food too, very much… So things are nice and chill now. It’s usually pretty cool when I am a few days into carni, I just need to figure out how to make it last. I guess the key is pork chuck roasts all the time except when we cook beef again. But even then as it’s nice to have some pork chuck and it’s more tender and way more affordable. My body is fine with it so I am not in a hurry about experimenting with more ruminant meat. Keeping my carbs low all the time is way more important at this point. And figuring out things. This “properly fatty meat, minimizing added fat” style seems to be great, I just need to get the timing right. Well, actually the amount of food but they are strongly correlated. Even my carb intake raises if I have too many meals, it’s very logical from my own viewpoint, that’s how my satiation, appetite and boredom of food works. But my body strongly prefers fewer bigger meals anyway. With some leeway as I need that. Never could eat in a tiny range, be it macros or timing. That’s fine.
So I am fine now and very hopeful too.
Suddenly having nightly leg and foot cramps again. When I was keto, I used magnesium and salt at night. Maybe I need to drink a large glass of salty water before bed now?
I just have containers. Before getting the garden overhauled it was a jungle of brambles and invasive ivy and I am just a biy scared that if I plant in the ground it will return and then yun into he nightmare it was for 20 odd years! So I was lugging bags of top soil and various types of compost … never realised how the plants need such differing soils! But I do now lol. I would love to see deers and armadillos in my garden… I think I would put up with not such a great garden to have the wild life visit! If stuff is going to die I wouldn’t invest the time and effort. End of March is looming fast! Its incredible how fast the months fly by.
@robintemplin its a bugger when you can’t sleep, it just affects every part of your life! Mine started when my son was born and then carried on forever, he’s 36 now!
I like the idea of tucking your worries in for the night and the thought that the list may get shorter once retired
I still have a couple of chicken thighs for later and also cooked up 4 hard boiled eggs just in case. I spent the afternoon pottering in the garden again only today I put out all my mums meerkat and foxy as she loved them so much and also out out some other bits that I had stored in the back room ready for when the garden was done. A few lovely China recepticals for water for the birds and a number of other bits and then i had a sit down with a cuppa and a puzzle book and enjoyed the sunshine. Nice and warm again and it felt so cosy and like my mum was there with me. I think I have turned into my mother, I have said that before but I really think she is there by my side saying aww pet that dog or go on put the meerkat in the garden lol
Dinner was the ribeye then straight after I cooked the 2 small rump steaks. I just wanted to leVe them to get to room temp before cooking as they can be so tough. All the steaks were tender and delish.
I am just waiting for a call to go and pick up my friend Raymond from hospital. He has had a stent inserted and is now waiting to be discharged.
I
We know more now. So, this is a kitten that just came from nowhere and it belong to someone who is here only on the weekends (this is such a place, there are tiny vacation homes here and only a few people live here all year round). She goes here and there and try to live between weekends.
Alvaro actually wrote it better on a chat for a friend (@KetoKoala ):
as she’s not out here on weekdays the kitteh flitteh around the few inhabited houses
He is a witty fun one according to my humour sense. It helps out in dark times and great anyway.
We will see. I am fine with her visiting a lot, we even feed her but if she considers this house her home we should bring her to the vet for the usual for the girls. Well Caroline only got neutered, Tofu got some injections as well and a card! The vet asked for her name and everything! So she is semi-officially Tofu now. it’s a chore as the vet is barely there and it’s 2 villages away except that tiny thing is a town now, apparently. 5000 people, it should be a village but okay, this is not East-Hungary where a village with train station (many lines) and 15000 people was possible
But that is a town now too. And where I lived, that place was a town since the 16th century and it surely was tiny then. It just had special town rights.
But I actually just wanted to show my food and talk about it.
Alvaro went to have dinner at 5:30pm so I went too. I wasn’t hungry and my appetite was slightly negative but I knew I can’t skip a day and it’s always so strange to eat after 6… It’s better earlier.
The soup (pork chuck bone with lots of meat makes a good one!) helped with appetite. When I can’t imagine eating something solid, soup is still okay, it’s my gateway food in need
I ate twice this much with 4 eggs and some meat, it was nice just hot so I grabbed my smallest dessert plate with the meat and eggs soon… Pork chuck roast, half boiled egg, dry sausage (150g meat in 100g) and sponge cakes (I had 2 more).
And quark with lots of sour cream as dessert as it’s a too dry quark.
I am stuffed, it was so very long ago I had this state.
I consider it a perfect OMAD meal.
It seems no matter what I do, if I eat pork chuck, eggs and avoid too much added fat, so I just follow my tastes regarding fat and don’t mess with myself with pork shoulder, I get about 65% fat. Always. I had it in the previous days too. But whatever I do, it’s usually 65-70%, lean fish/organ or pork shoulder, lots of cream or added fat, I stay in my comfortable zone. Theoretically I can go out but mostly just higher-fat. I had 80% fat days before, they are nice just overeating (or else I wouldn’t eat high protein as I like) and I don’t like that. But it feels nice and perfect occasionally (especially if I eat modestly on the other days compared to my needs).
I don’t really need to overcomplicate OMAD, ensuring it to happen (or close) and eating right should be enough. I just love to collect data and thing about things too much. As if I could control much but I probably need the tiny that I am able to. Or else chaos ensues and I keep struggling and I had enough of that.
I am very satisfied now.
Tomorrow will be interesting as I only have a tiny pork in my soup but I actually had enough for a while. It was lovely but I need a break. I imagine a very eggy day with tiny processed meat and beef heart.
That would be sight I mean the deers as this county has no armadillos. Deers frequent this street but they don’t enter properties, they are shy.
Foxes happen though, I saw that multiple times. Alvaro saw Caroline fighting the bold rude one that dared to enter her terrace Wow, Caroline is a 3.5kg cat and 0.5kg of it is her fur
She’s a feisty one. But any other cat can take away her (normal cat) food and even her preys. She isn’t very attached to them. She can catch another in 2 minutes, maybe that’s why.
But poor foxes go into villages too as the more successful golden jackals came and took away fox territories… Life is tough in the wild.
We found the owners of the dog and she was safely returned this my.
meal one was a bacon feta omelette and a yogurt. Meal two was a bacon Parmesan omelette with a yogurt. Both omelettes cooked in kerrygold. I am definitely going to bed hungry tonight, but I never eat past 9.
Do you have any magnesium oil? You mentioned you do take magnesium citrate. If you drink a big glass of water and rub the magnesium oil on the cramp, it may be the ticket.
I found magnesium oil at natural grocers. It used to only be available online.
Todays food sirloin steak we went to costco a few weeks back and they had huge thick sirloin almost roast like came in a 2 pack enough for both hubby and myself for 2 meals
This one is tomorrows…
@Azi Wow that looks massive! How will you cook that? Will you do it like a roast? And how long will you cook it for? Hope it tastes as nice as it looks, loving all the fat!
Well I am lying in bed after getting up and washed ready to do my stair runs before CF only to hear the guy on the radio mention it was 20 to 8. I thought oh you got that wrong mate its 20 to 9 … checked my watch and thought how did I manage that. Sun was shining through the window and I checked my phone and could swear it said I had 3 mins left before my alarm was going to go off at 8.30! Must have been 1 hour and 3 mins!!! My eyes first thing in the morning what seemed to authenticate it was I felt ready to get up and thats been so not me the past few weeks!
Not at the carnivore stage yet but was having a wander around the forums and lo! an amazing looking restaurant that is just up the road from me I imagine I’ll be dining there in the not too distant future. Your meal looked amazing.
Yeah we sliced it into 2 still thick steaks and threw it in the grill came out great…
100% it was the best experience and incredible tasty food. Definitely worth a visit. Its called Rodizio Roco
