Carnivores March into March :)

Today was an egggggsellent day. 15 eggs to be exact. 6 for breakfast fried in unsalted butter. A 4 egg bacon and feta omelette for lunch and some goat milk yogurt. Then a 5 egg bacon Parmesan omelette for dinner and another yogurt. image image image image

(Robin) #42

A thing of beauty.

(Linda ) #43

Do you make your own yogurt?

(Daisy) #44

No, the yogurt pictured is goat milk yogurt from Kroger. It’s not my favorite and I think it’s causing me some body breakouts. I’ve tried it once before, but my Kroger is discontinuing it (they started the new store out with lots of interesting products, but people around here aren’t that diverse, so most of the products are being discontinued lol), so I bought it on discount and it was I think the last one. I prefer Fage plain yogurt but like to be adventurous sometimes :joy: image

I never ate 15 eggs… I feel challenged. It’s not so easy for me as I get bored of eggs for the actual day eventually (except sweets and similar things, I can drink many eggs in coffee) and rarely reach even 5 in the same simple form (though I just have decided to have 5 egg scrambled eggs as I had enough of many course meals. 5 eggs with something substantial in it is a not very small first course).
But I never feel the desire to eat so many eggs, not even in egg loving days. (Part of this is that meat satiates me better, it’s a bit better nutritionally and way more tempting after my 10th egg unless I am bored of meat.
Hmmm…

I packed some nice lunch box as I won’t be at home until the evening and who knows what Alvaro’s Mom will have (or how much. she seems to think that one full chicken leg is something for a person. my body disagrees). Shopping at 3-4pm surely makes me hungry. I have boiled eggs, sponge cakes, pork roast, beef liver and a tiny cheese.

I plan to buy some yogurt but a smallish amount. Not a tiny one (what is that nowadays, 150g? but I doubt greek yogurt comes in so little), not the 1kg on sale… We will see. Sour cream is very similar to greak yogurt but it’s still not the same… I liked greek yogurt when I tried.

G’morning! Another early shift. Did not end up fasting. In fact, ate like ravenous bear. Took my daughters out for dinner, and do not know what the H got into me, but we all ended up with a dessert. So, wiping the slate clean once again. ugh.

They ended the mask mandate at work for everyone. Its so nice to breathe air again! =) Will write more later. Have a blessed day everyone.

(Karen) #47

I eat most when i am hungry … I can just carry on eating way past satiety, so maybe because you’re doing early shifts you are feeling more tired? I don’t usually eat till between 11am and 1pm but if I am on a work day and up at 4.45am I have a rumbly tum shortly after arriving at work. I know it is just a work thing so i tend to ignore the grumbling.

I am off out later today to the Brazilian restaurant in Coventry with my daughter so won’t be eating much till I get that ‘all the meat you can eat’ in front of me. Got to be careful though as I have to do the 2nd of 3 Open Games tomorrow morning and don’t want to feel too 'heavy through food. I will take a container with me to bring home anything off my plate I can’t get through! Not wanting to spend a fortune and eat only one steak lol :wink: off upstairs for a nice bath and slowly get ready. Finished off a not so nice piece of cheese … European and I am not keen on European cheese, taste a bit like rubber!

The CrossFit Open 22.2 was advertised last night and so I waited till this morning to take a look at whats in store. There was a post on FB that it was a mix of deadlifts and bar facing burpees but I didn’t want to read any more about it in case I couldn’t sleep thinking about it. I still managed to have it on my mind through the night each time i needed the loo!

Ate all the mutton last night before bed and one hard boiled egg. There wasn’t a lot of mutton tbh but it was quite nice. Better than munching on cheese before bed.

Catch up later with some Brazilian snaps :grinning:

actually when almost every single person goes into real carnivore plan, at some point some D hits everyone. Ask on any zc forum, lol, it is an adaption 99.9% of us have to handle at some point in transition, we all walk thru it and some have longer term issues, some get thru very quickly but it is a major adaption that darn near every carnivore hits for whatever reason, gut flora changing, heavy toxins leaving the body and upsetting the body apple cart for a bit, newbies sucking down tons of fat and enjoying, it but can pay for it sometimes a bit. So this is a normal thing actually on this carnivore plan when brand new.

we eat carnivore. we control only not eating any plants, lol
after that, we can eat all the meat/seafood/fish and fowl we want, any time we want so that control has to happen on carnivore if you want to eat this plan

the control I am chatting is don’t control portion sizes in zc. don’t control when you eat if you wanna eat late, eat late. you wanna eat all day long you eat all day long. we don’t control our appetite at all when new to zc…we let it control us til it decides to flip and we heal more and our appetite changes to suit us as it needs. that is what I meant on control.

that is very smart in that when we transition into hardcore carnivore that meat supply is an absolute we must have. So your little roast for emergency hanging around is always a good thing  Go little roasts!!

2022 will be your year if ya make it just that! more power to you!!

oh boy isn’t benefit of getting leaner and meaner with body composition just the best? So happy you are doing so well!

your eating sounds great to me!! and I agree, if dairy is a factor for you then ditch it, not a darn thing wrong with that at all! It is good you are seeing who you are on this plan and what it takes for you! cool

I know alot of carnivores dump dairy, luckily I was one who did ok on it and I just let the years ditch it for me. I eat it more rare now, cheese has a small role in my zc days now. So yea if you can add back a bit later then you got a great maintenance plan to enjoy down the road for ya :sunny:

oh boy I can not wait for your report on this restaurant!!
your daughter treats you so well!

@Azi. WOW that is one beautiful meat picture and I know you are enjoying the heck out of that!

@Ketodaisy
a carnivore egg fast day HAHA well not fasting, you ate very well! I so wish I enjoyed eggs still. I ate so many when I started they just don’t float my boat anymore sadly, but you did eggggcelent!

-----------------Crab leg report. EH. They were kinda smaller. OK on flavor, but funny thing is, I didn’t go hog wild over them.

funny thing about carnivore and our WOE…you don’t eat something for a while, then ya try it again and you are more like…EH, I actually don’t require this any more in my eating. Kinda felt that way on the snow crab legs. When they were way cheaper I made sure I had a surf and turf time in my week with alot of crab, looking back over years carnivore threads, yea I stated I ate crab legs on alot of my days

but now, the draw is alot lower. I am more like…whatever. If I get some I will enjoy but I do not need a freezer load of them at all. I got one more pk I will eat maybe in a few wks if wanted, but I can say now, I won’t be hankering and going insane missing them anymore.

Carnivore changes us, that is a fact.

Got a nice big ribeye. I think I might pair up with like 4 scrambled eggs with it cause with KD eating so many eggs, I feel maybe I should try them again to see if I even wanna include them anymore? If I did like them kinda again I could use them as a side dish for sure. So will do a little egg experimenting.

I really am falling now into hardcore beef. after that ribs/pork chops is my standard. little chicken still but in the end, I am a beef/pork gal to the ultimate. Shrimp tho I noticed I am cooking a bit less now as a side dish too.

changing again on zc! it is a good thing, I just follow the desire on what I wanna eat and let it happen.

Everyone is doing so well…we got a long March thru March but sounds like we all are finding our best way forward still!

(Edith) #49

What cut of meat are they?

(Robin) #50

What got into you was your daughters! LOL
Whenever I went out with my daughter we would spend too much and eat like fools.
I did the same thing with my mom.
I’m placing the blame on a combo of DNA and hormones.

(Robin) #51

Ya’ll I have nothing to report. I wish I did. But since really settling in to carnivore, I am on auto pilot.

I eat meat.
That’s my contribution.

#52

That is the best auto pilot one can have on any eating plan

(Karen) #53

Okay guys now you are all ready for this … don’t want to see any green envy gremlins coming out of the woodwork !!:wink:
The Brazilian ‘eat all the meat you can’ experience was amazing. Well worth the hour trip to Coventry and well worth every penny. I have to say the quality of meat and the quality of how it was cooked was top notch. So for those that have never had the experience the rules are… the little coaster, red on one side and green on the other… when you are ready to eat you turn it green side up and when you want a rest you turn it red side up… easy peasy. There was a salad and hot dishes help yourself bar which i didn’t bother with but Sian had a very small garlicky salad… more like a tiny side salad, i was impressed with her. Aside from that she just ate meat … and she enjoyed it! So the chef comes over with the different meats on skewers and carves them at the table. You can have as much of the meat as you want.

First up was chicken wings … I had 2 but I could so easily have eaten more as they were so delish. Sian said “don’t fill up on chicken there lots of other meat coming!” I find it hard to fill up on chicken but I stuck with 2.

Then came pork rib or leg didn’t understand what the chef said, and pork sausage.

Next came sirloin steak carved at table in same manner

Next up rump steak … this was so tender.

A break from foody pics to show you restaurant lol

Next up pork loin

Chicken hearts

Lamb leg

Our little go and stop coasters

And my container that came home empty cos i just had to eat everything while it was hot!!!:smile::wink:

Blimey everything was cooked to perfection. Super experience. I had one glass of water and a decaf coffee to finish. Sian had a butchers at the dessert menu and decided not to indulge… Good girl. She ate her meal so fast and was sitting waiting for me to finish and I do take my time lol but after all that I felt nicely satiated and not at all stuffed. Sian thinks with all that protein I should be dead strong tomorrow. Oh and she kept passing her bits of fat on to my plate … hahah keep 'em coming, the fat was gorgeous. funny but it was almost like 2 carnivores eating this evening!

Well did those pics getting y’all drooling? X

(Edith) #54

My birthday is this month. It certainly got me considering going to a place like that for my birthday dinner!

(Karen) #55

My daughter said it was a good place for my birthday too… I had to agree lol x

(Linda ) #56

Short ribs but cut the other way …so flanken ribs used alot in Korean bbq

(Linda ) #57

Today meat Continuing on with smoking I cooked up some beef ribs I dida 3 1 1 method and then finished them off in new oven

I could only eat 4

#58

So it’s not 100.0%. I don’t talk about others, I talk about me. I don’t get D ever without doing something insanely wrong, normal food can’t do that.

Yep. That’s WAAAY beyond my control. I can’t even do keto and that’s 45g net carbs and unlimited total for me… I can’t do that now, nope. Totally impossible. Okay, I do it on most day so it’s something… And I would do it WAY better on OMAD. Anything beyond OMAD brings carbs too easily.

I just hope my late winter state regarding juicy stuff ends very soon. I still have so much time until June, I really want to try some nice carnivore-ish times. But OMAD is more important so I go for both and hope for the best.

Yeah of course but it’s not enough for me at all… What if I don’t want any carni food but I am starving? I just hope I manage to do it soon. I do have variety. It should be easy. It is not.

I never control portion sizes  I overeat a lot. I eat too many too small meals too because I can’t eat more :frowning: Sigh. Small meals means almost always sure overeating for me.

I DON’T want to eat all day long. I hate it with a passion to be hungry all day long, wasting my day on cooking and eating and overeating and wasting money. Nope. I like fasting when I am perfectly satiated all day (it’s just a tiny fast, I eat every day or else I get problems).
It’s pretty clear: I need OMAD. I only feel okay on it (expect my rare TMAD days but I am fine with that too. It’s just super hard to pull it off, if I eat more than once, I usually eat 3-5 times and that’s awful. anything but that).

I don’t eat according to appetite. Appetite is the desire to eat, should be totally ignored without real need to eat. I want to eat when I need to eat and when I hungry as I can’t avoid it then, real need or not.

Who can control their appetite…? It is something that happens to us, we can’t control it, I think… But I don’t care much about appetite I think. Unless it’s too high or too low. That can be super annoying.

I did shopping. I have a lot of stuff but I didn’t go overboard, I didn’t buy ALL the possible dairy, for example  Just butter, sour cream, whipping cream, quark and greek yogurt. And cheese but that’s mostly Alvaro’s, I will barely taste them.
I almost bought pork shoulder (after I decided I really, really don’t want it as it always triggers overeating, at least once per roast, on my meatiest day. it’s more calorie dense as it is satiating)… It was on an INSANE sale. Vegs and grains and everything else gets super expensive (another shopping, another +20% price raise, we don’t even bat an eye at this point)… But not meat. I didn’t buy shoulder this cheap years ago. IDK what is with meat prices but I like it. But it was sold out so I am safe  I bought a huge slab of pork chuck instead, it even has a little bone so I will make a soup. I got bacon and my fav soft sausage. And dry sausage as well. We probably won’t go to shopping for 3-4 weeks at least so it’s not that much, I will use them in moderation and I am not alone anyway.
I always feel it would be a total waste not giving stricter carnivore a shot again when I have such nice supplies (as strict as I normally do, with little dairy, spices, whatnot). And I actually had plans for these first months but then things get messed up for some reason. I can’t force things, they must happen naturally. I can just train myself and I do that, my tastes change… So my chances get better as time passes. We will see.

We didn’t eat at Alvaro’s Mom in the end and my lunch box was a bit too little, it turned out. I will be more careful next time and bring more food. Alvaro, the super stable one ate his usual 7 sesame muffins and that’s it. IDK how he does it. All his breakfasts are exactly the same calorie wise (macros are all over the place. it matters nothing to him, it seems)… He is the controlled one who simply don’t eat when he ate his planned number of meals. The one who gets hungry at 11am sometimes (the worst scenario, it usually comes way later) but lunch is at 2-4pm so he just works hungry.
If I get hungry at ANY time, I eat. If I fancy food at 1am, I eat. I should be a bit more disciplined but I have my limits. I could be worse, I remember my past… I need to eat (and fast) right during the day and to choose the right food and then my night eating automatically disappears and all is well. It’s my only way.

It’s good I don’t gain fat when overeat, I did that too much lately. Of course mostly carbs are to blame, I still think I don’t overeat on carnivore longer term (and one day isn’t overeating, it’s a high-cal day, probably useful). And pork shoulder. I can eat a ton of that dense stuff. Why doesn’t it satiate me better I wonder? Fat in my meat tends to do it or I was mistaken? Oh well, I stick to my way leaner but still wonderfully fatty pork chuck, maybe thigh, organs and the occasional beef and turkey.
I am not afraid from sausages as I automatically eat that in moderation. But pork shoulder…? 500g? 1000g? Not hard to eat. I still think it would work on OMAD but I often eat more than that on my meaty days as well.

Sorry, I stop this, even in my mind. I think I know what to do and I hope I will feel the desire to do so as mere trying never helped much. I trained, I thought, I changed, got supplies. We will see.

Alvaro will cook turkey tomorrow. With cauliflower and tandori masala. I liked that dish, it always had boiled eggs, not meat but now we change things  I used to love cauliflower (fried cauliflower was the first thing I banned on keto back then as it was way too carby for my 40g net carb limit. I ate sweets instead as they were super low-carb so I could stay in ketosis for long enough for fat adaptation) and now I lost all my interest. I will taste it but I am pretty ready to roast my pork chuck soon. I fight against the usual thought, “oh I will just finish my previous pork roast, I need breaks, I have this and that to eat” as it usually doesn’t end well. Nope, I make my roast. If I won’t like it, I put it into the freezer but it doesn’t spoil easily anyway. Pork roasts all the time, I shouldn’t forget!

I try to be scarce, I will come back later to tell if I could behave finally. I am sure it will be okay for a while if I get the hang of it, it’s better when I get momentum - until I get bored but I have super good supplies right now. Pork, beef, organs, dairy, little delicious processed meat for my scrambled eggs, everything. And I still in love with eggs!

Oh @Karen18, I like your “story-telling”, it sounds exciting already  Oh chicken wouldn’t be a problem for me as they don’t satiate me at all. I only wouldn’t eat them if they wouldn’t be tasty at all.
Oh the restaurant is pretty, even prettier than the “all you can eat” Asian restaurant I was in but that was great too.

I saw chicken hearts today but we had so much meat. We will buy a bunch next time, liver too and make chicken liver+heart stew. I never ate chicken heart alone. It’s sooo great with the liver  For people like us who like liver, at least.

I never heart about such a place… We have Japanese and Asian and normal “all you can eat” places. I would like to eat such a variety. Especially the beef and lamb… pork is easy, I can get it any time, it’s cheap and easy to make… Not all pieces are the same though, sometimes I have a blissful time and sometimes it’s meh but still okay. I enjoy my food so often, I can handle a merely satiating, nutritious and not bad but not stellar tasting meal here and there. But it’s usually just a course, I usually find something I can enjoy a lot.

I wish it would work like that!

Nice pics. No actual drool, I ate a lot of tasty things today but I can’t complain about my saliva production  I usually eat my meat way more roasted or fried though (I only do these two I think. I will make my first proper meaty soup next time. I mean, without much bones, mostly meat). But I am open to try things like in the pictures.

I will look up such places but if we will feel generous at my birthday (it’s sooo far away at this point, I am a Leo. and a fire dragon but that doesn’t matter here, I just find it important), I want a steakhouse visit. Their biggest steak with eggs and bacon on the side. I mentioned it before. It’s a nice and a realistic dream. I am curious how a proper steak looks and tastes like.

(Michael) #59

@Shinita speaking of chicken hearts

Add two chicken livers, salmon and beef thymus for vitamin C.

I did not read all the posts, but I licked all the pictures :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Back at work. Staying on plan. Back at home in the countryside now.

Noticing an eating change with baked beef ribs. I used to eat 3 ribs in a meal. That meal included about 150g Brie cheese. But now don’t need the cheese and 1 baked rib is enough. Breakfast eggs have reduced from 4 to 3, bacon rashers from 3 to 2. Cream in coffee from 40ml to 20 ml these are not exclusions nor restrictions. These are instinctive changes based on satiety. The actual risk to manage is not to under-eat.

Now on 2 days per week attendance at the workplace in the city for my full-time job. That is 6 hours commuting round trip to the city and 2 hours commute in the city. 8 hours driving per week for work. I note driving because I think it is a health hurdle. It is a key poor eating trigger point in my experience. On work days I am OMAD. If needed I’ll have a mug of beef bone broth in lunch break time.

Plan for March Is to listen to the beat of the back at work in the city humdrum, and adapt and stay on plan. I plan on catching COVID this month as my people and work interactions expose me. I want to get it done before flu season, as we have international travel borders open again.
