Cool. I hope your guts balance out faster now. Key for carnivore is go off all supplements to ‘see’ who you are off all supplements ya know…then later if ya might need some like magnesium to help or anything else ya kinda know, but if we start zc on supps, we are just never sure if we need them or they hurt us a bit or ?? Plus any money ya save not buying supps means more money for meat HA I so hope ya clear up sooner than later now!!
yum, nice ribeye pic! looks delish. omg I used to love garlic butter taste til the day I flipped and don’t like it anymore! But I sure had it on many of my steaks when I started out zc.
--------------------------today is simple day
found an older Tbone in the freezer, defrosting as I type.
paired wtih chicken or bacon or both for second meal. won’t be too much, this Tbone is a honking huge steak
Seems March is starting to finish off, everyone seems to be doing very well holding thru their march of March!! ZC on in good form all.
Ok then @Fangs, I’ll cut out the 5htp and the magnesium for now but the vit D was prescribed and I don’t want to get behind in that. I’ve had little night cramps so I’ll just use mg oil for those instead. Without the melatonin I will lie awake for ages so I think that stays although I did try just keeping it by the bed in case of hamster wheel brain, then take it at that time. I’m grateful to have it because I sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed. No more night poops and it’s nice not to wake up till the puppy jumps on me and barks in my ear to go out as soon as it’s light out, Lol
I’ll give the no-mg a week or two but I really believe in magnesium. I’ve already stopped zinc, C, B, turmeric, boswellia, and meds.
As you say they’re expensive! I give hubby the turmeric and Boswellia as he has some pain from prostate hyperplasia. Water however, has made all the difference for him. Easy, miraculous fix for that problem.
Lastnight, 3 mozzarella sticks, just enough to sleep, then at about 10 this morning I had 2 eggs, 3 or 4 bacon slices and 2 little ham slices, all cooked in ghee. Then a little black espresso. Hit the spot!
We’ll be at the brewery for lunch so Topo Chico (mineral water) and wings, “clean and dry” as they say. Bringing home the carrots again to cook and add to the dog food.
Crap sleep as always before a work day. Up at silly o’clock, 4.45am and did stair runs, had a bath and left for work at 6.30am. Did 5 hours before heading home. Today was the last day of my phased return so back to normal working hours next week. I will be in Thursday sat sun and mon! 2 days out of the 4 are 13 hour shifts it is going to completely wipe me out I guess but i have said if I am struggling then I will go home! Badly planned putting me back on normal hours on a weekend on as our working week starts on a Sunday!
Anyway I will do what I can do and thats it. I have the occupational Health appt on Monday that kickstarts my application for ill health retirement
So I didn’t eat anything till I got home about 12.45pm and ate the cooked chicken heated in some lard to give it a bit of flavour. I really don’t care much for chicken breast and thats what was leftover on the carcass. Then boiled the carcass for a bit of stock to drink over next couple of days. Thats tastes okay.
Then about an hour ago I had a big riibeye and 2 basted pork loin chops. Very tasty but I was struggling to eat it all … I did eat it all though, I made sure i did as I will need the fuel for tomorrows workout at CrossFit.
It was a beautiful sunny warm afternoon so i sat out a bit, couldn’t muster any energy to plant out any of the plants sitting on the kitchen floor so just had to give them all a drink and will try and get them out tomorrow at some point.
Two days of OMAD. 2 black coffees 3 hours apart. Beef bone broth and baked beef short ribs. I used to eat 2 or 3 ribs depending on sizes. This week just one rib per meal. Plenty of cold left overs. It’s the weekend and I feel like eating some eggs.
Last week I left my box of supplements and medication for polyarthritis at the wrong end of the road trip. So, I had no medication nor supplements for 4 days. Just stayed on the WOE plan. No flare-ups or relapses of joint pain. Pretty much pain free these days and can sense the strength I have lost. But I can swim and I have a new set of swimming goggles and the natural motivation of this WOE to be physically active.
That’s awesome that your seeing so much improvement and pain relief after all this time …
for me the added fat in my diet has been a game changer it kind of makes sense though I did keto on alot of bacon and lost all my weight…Then I started
going into carnivore and grilling all my meat is when,i started having issues…I started having days i got hungry and couldnt find satiety started eating more and more protein and just kept gaining…
Since I started upping my fat and adding fat to everything for the first time since going carnivore I’ve had the same content full feeling I got from keto lasting hours and hours…and only eating half the amount of food needed before.
I think there def are different two different groups in carnivore one where ppl do better on higher protein and the other where more fat is required…
I went back to ppl blogs that started doing carnivore/keto in 2015 ,2016 also read blogs of ppl amber ohearn had helped and the same message kept coming through eat more fat add fat to meals and repeated messages of ppl who had tried higher protein that started gaining
Todays food I started with a burger on pmsf bun
Dinner was 2 pmsf buns with butter and half a rib eye
Yay! I too have been off my arthritis meds for a month or so. It’s not like it’s all gone, but there’s just not the pain and inflammation there used to be and I’m sleeping well without the meds. I have an appointment in April and thinking of picking up my records and calling it a day. If I need medical again I’ll start fresh. I’ve been refusing steroids and radio frequency for over a year anyway (they don’t work) and we have been 1600 miles from the Dr’s office since the start of the pandemic so they can have their stuffy practice.
Congrats on getting off them by accident @FrankoBear
@Karen18 oh my, what a trial! I’m so glad you’re getting out of there. In the time you’ve been out you’ve developed an independent attitude that I don’t think is going to go away! I’m glad you have the choice to leave the shift if it gets to be too much.
We went into town for our Friday shopping. This little Texas town was jam packed with tourists today, turns out it’s spring break. I got some great meat at the grocery store “heart meat” lol, can’t they sell me a whole heart? And a chicken which goes into sous vide in the morning for tomorrow’s and Saturday’s lunches. When it’s done the chuck roast goes in for Sunday and however long it lasts.
We couldn’t park and the brewery was jam packed, so we left town and came back to the ranch and the hamburger place out here. I was very specific - meat, cheese, egg over easy, bacon, no bun. So here comes this stack of food smothered in fried onions, peppers and avocados. (gross). I scraped it off but kept picking diced pepper off my fork. Another error was the iced tea. Who knew that would upset my stomach?
I took a pic of just the half of the serving without the scraped off junk but even that’s too yucky to post, Eww.
Anyway, it wasn’t that egregious since I did my best and got it all off but you would think they’d communicate with the kitchen better!
What would happen if you sent the food back? I have a Swedish friend and she seems to do that almost all the time, if it comes out not as she ordered. Then no tip.
so agree. also different journey timeline. newbies might need xyz and then a yr or so into this we change and might need way more fat and then later we could jump around again and need higher protein for a short stint and back to fat, but I also found when one becomes adapted well with time on this plan, higher fat is usually a draw to many of us.
@FrankoBear
WOW it is wonderful to read you got thru the crazy time. I really wonder what that ‘shot’ did to ya But you are sure healing thru it and wanting to hit the water now…very good!
@JJFiddle
yea ya might need some mag later, but if you drop it and see, heck ya might need none LOL less supps we use the better we kinda are to know our reset zone, cause we can always add back some supps if needed. Just keep whittling your way thru it all and find what suits ya and what doesn’t.
EWwww on that food slopped over with all that junk. Oh yea I got fooled like that many times at restaurants. Wrong order OR the menu doesn’t say it. Menu said ‘ribeye steak’ and I got it and came with some wonky gravy slathered on it like drowning…ewww…but most times, I do send things back. I don’t play now, I get what I ordered cause my darn hard earned dollars are getting very precious HAHA
tannins in tea. you might be feeling them, they can cause nausea and more. I had to dump unsweet tea. my mouth would go dry and got numb like and just …icky…and it was tannins tea so I just went with water only. I missed my tea for a bit but then it was like I didn’t care a bit I got rid of it. I always ordered unsweet tea for the longest time and then one day my only order out is water, lol.
-----------------I am in the mood for bacon cheese omelet. haven’t wanted one for a long long time but this morning woke up and first brain message was make a darn omelet so I will. it will be monster sized of course
got chicken and burger for later.
simple zc day.
I could’ve written this post word for word.
As has been said, Amber talks about higher fat and The Bear used to eat fat first and then lean.
What fats have you chosen, @Azi?
@FrankoBear well done accidently forgetting your supps and meds. So glad your pain subsided while not taking them than the other way round. Sometimes I think its all in the mind that we need this stuff. Perhaps we should just be given a placebo pill first and if that doesn’t work , only then be given the real mccoy.
I prefer chicken hot these days which is a complete turn around for me as I always liked it cold before. I think it is just perhaps I need ‘hot’ food more these days.
@Azi I pan fry all my meats unless I am cooking a joint of meat and then I roast it and occasionly put it in the slow cooker pot depending on what meat it is. I used to do everything in the slow cook pot but not these days. I really live to taste the fat especially when its mixed ‘pork, bacon, lamb and beef fat’ altogether. I like it when it goes a bit cool on the plate and sets slightly so i can scoop it up and wipe it over the meat as I eat it, it just adds to the flavour in my opinion.
@JJFiddle Thank you, yes my independence has developed but in a different way as I have always been independ to a certain degree. My outlooked has completely changed. As for my long shifts, i will walk out even if I’m not allowed to if I am feeling wiped out. I’m not going to do myself in just to prove I can do it. Those days are long gone. I told my line manager I would do my best but my best might not last as long as the shift haha I have told him I will be taking frequent breaks.
As for your meal covered in gunk … yuk! I would have sent it back or asked for a side plate and made sure the waitress realised it was to clear all the crap you told her you didn’t want! Sometimes just doing that reminds them how you had ordered your meal and they then offer to change it for you. Not always a viable option if you want to all eat together though …!
@Fangs I just can’t eat bacon in an omelette. I love cheese omelette with the bacon on the side. Mind you, you’d be so proud of me, I went to The Company Shop this morning and stopped at the chilled section for some butter, cheese was right there next to the butter and I didn’t take any interest in it whatsoever!!! Its well over a week, maybe even 2 weeks since I last had any, aren’t I doing so so well … proud moment lol. No cheese in my life!!! Never thought i would be able to say that. I am not saying it hasn’t been on my mind, especially a night but I have been controlling the desire cos I haven’t any in the fridge! BUT I have noticed that my work trousers are looser still this week since dumping it and I would say I have definitely increased the quantity of meat at each meal this week.
We made a fire tonight in the wood stove. The first one for autumn. Time for broths and soups, and suddenly cooked breakfasts aren’t so weird. But I ate a cold leftover beef rib tonight. With a hot and salty cup of beef bone broth.
hey there was a time before zc I couldn’t say no carbs in my life
luckily I never had to drop cheese. I ate alot when starting cause it was a dependence to help me change over into zc but when I ‘got there’ in my eating cheese kinda went by the wayside in that I only used it on specific foods now. Not a thought in ‘just eating’ it ever/
you are doing fab. dairy really is a wild card for all of us on carnivore, but if you are at this point, very soon that darn ol’ cheese won’t even be a thought anymore, like so many things I dumped
I have to say you truly came thru some harrowing times in good form K!
Smart to leave work if whacked out…I would sure do the same. Risk health for a dollar and a few hrs of work, nope! I love how you handled all this and your smarts getting thru it…any news on that early retirement issue? or is it just a waiting game now?
yea I can do the bacon in the omelet but I fry super crispy then just ‘add it over’ the eggs and bit of melty cheese at the end, it isn’t like cut up small and mushed in there LOL I will take a pic of that sucker when I cook it, you can see it then…weeee…
@FrankoBear
AUTUMN!!! omg I remember you mentioning summer and how hot you got and read no surfing stuff from you…wow you had a tough season but got thru it. I am the one going to the beach sooner than later now and you are settling into campfires! blows my mind how fast it all goes truly!
Just got to have the OH consultants tel appt Monday to see if he recommends it. Tbh I don’t care about it all, yes it would be nice if I get offered it and if the money aide of things is on point but if I have to carry on another year and a bit hey ho, just not stressing about it.
Yes I want to see a pic of that omelette please😄
I was thinking exact same thing as @Fangs @FrankoBear. I was thinkinging how flipping quick you were out of summer and into autumn. Hope it is still pretty warm anyway. Spring is just arriving here, we have a nice forecast this weekend to be a bit warmer than it should be for this time of year. We may get 17° by tomorrow yay. Photo is amazing again, the skies above you are very kind on the eye. You take such a lively piccie. @Fangs i can see that camper van getting put to great use again very soon!
Yeah I’ve always felt those tannins, and have had no tea of any kind since starting carni on Jan 12th. But my reaction blindsided me! Also, that gloppy mess? I’d have jumped for joy to see it just 3 months ago.
Hubby was in sort of a bad mood so I decided not to send it back. This morning he reminded me that I ordered the “bucket list burger” before specifying (twice!) no veggies- so naturally, my fault.
So if there is a next time, I leave off the cute name and just list the ingredients for them.
Well last night I went up to bed about 7pm, I was so tired from not sleep well the night before. I shut down everything by 8pm and was drifting off. Then proceeded to wake up every hour and couldn’t get back to sleep. My mind was so busy and all I could think about was getting the plants out of the kitchen into the garden! Plus I had a song in my head, heaven knows where that came from! So after not being able to get back to sleep when I woke about half 12 I got up and went downstairs for a bit of mindless tv. I was hungry,! So it was either tuna or eggs and I didn’t fancy tuna so scrambled 3 eggs in some butter and ate that. Went back to bed about 1.30am and drifted off, still woke up a few more times and popped to loo for a wee.
Woke up just before 7, went to loo again and then caught up on the phone before getting up at half past to do my stair runs. Then to CrossFit for a puffy workout.
Decided to go to The Company Shop and gets some stuff for the freezer but came home and stuck it all in the fridge lol. May put some in the freezer tomorrow depends on how much of it i eat.
So i had brunch which was pre cooked chicken in pakora spice. Decided to heat it to eat it and added some butter to make sure it wasn’t too dry.
Got stuck in to the gardening this afternoon, it was a glorious sunny warm day and I didn’t want it on my mind another night lol. Plants into planters and pots, shrubs into 1 big metal refuse bin and 5 very large planters plus some more shrubs into smaller planters, 3 small troughs with climbing plants, jasmine, honeysuckle and clematis, 3 geraniums, 1 salvia, 3 azalias, 2 of which into my lovely big cup n saucer planters, 1 little red Robin in to a tall planter and juggled about the planters down the bottom of the garden to make them all fit in nicely and look aesthetically pleasing to the eye . Back is a little bit sore from carting bags of soil around but it will be fine tomorrow once I have got the stair runs done! Not buying any more plants for a while, think I will just watch everything grow now till I buy a couple of trees lol looks such a pretty treat. Kitchen floor clear, hall floor lear back hall clear yesss!
Sat outside and ate dinner which I was ready for. I cooked 4 pork chops had two outside before feeling a bit chilly as the sun was going down, came indoors and ate the other 2. Just having 4 small spiced chick pakoras cold… not as nice as hot with butter, much drier but its going down!
Hey y’all… I’m marching into March with you. Just never think to post about it. So far Carnivore seems to be such a natural fit for me that it’s not on my mind. But I read all the posts and appreciate them so much.
I started by adding beef fat I bought a brisket to slice chunks of fat… but then I made butter mayo and hollindaise sauce so eggs and butter and could use it on top of my steak …and then I just started having butter like whipped butter that I can take a bit with each bite of steak.
With the burger it’s cheese, mayo.and then I had a plain bun with butter spread pretty thick…
