I’m still a sucker for the ‘bullet proof’ coffee…it’s the only time I drink coffee tbh.
And I only do that if I’m going into a morning meeting.
I prefer tea. Much more refreshing and refined in my swear to G honest opinion, lol.

Every morning i have to ask myself what day is it? Ahh Sunday … no urgency to get out of bed! I did, actually, sleep a bit better last night … no stressing, no visualising, no pressure niiiiiccccce
Awake early but just browsed through my phone until I knew I couldn’t put off any longer, getting out of bed and doing my stair runs! I knew I was going to be suffering a bit of doms in the quads and I still had the tweek in my back but 100 flights later and yep everything relieved!
I went down the bottom of the garden to the land at the back and cleaned up the litter that had blown out of a skip that had sat there throughout Dudley, Eunice and Franklin, I hate litter then made a little insect area with a little pond… just need a little ariating plant in it to keep it clean and give a bit of cover for any frogs or newts that may like to come and investigate! Its only tiny but I had a smaller pond that was made of bricks outside my back door for years till the garden was overhauled in September and there was always a frog or two in that. They don’t need a huge area so long as there is a bit of cover from predators. There were some old chopped logs out back that I had just left by the fence and thought i would be able to use them for insects and I was glad they were still there. Then I had to pop out to do some shopping for my friend who had the stent inserted so went to The Company Shop and picked up some cheapo stuff for his freezer and knew I wouldn’t be able to resist a few bits for myself… so a whole cooked chicken, 2 packets of cooked sliced tikka chicken, a pack of 10 pork medalians with a nice bit of fat rind and some smoked back bacon. It looked like a good brand and I had some with my dinner and it was proper stuff, no white goo came out when I cooked them, a sure sign they are the real McCoy. Tasty as!
So I then went to Currys PC World to buy a new washing machine and a sep dryer for my son as his combined one just was never right and after being repaired twice and still not working… same problem throughout, I just had to get it replaced. That took over an hour to process as I got served by a newbie who wasn’t totally offay with making his way around the computer system! We all have to learn sometime and so I stayed really calm, proud moment lol and he was really lovely. We had our Autistic sons in common and he thanked me over and over for being patient … he got me on a good day then downstairs to buy a new fitbit. I hate having to buy new tech ! I just get to know what I am doing with one thing and then it breaks down and I have to learn a load of new stuff. Why can’t they just make the same version instead of adding new tech??? Arggggh.
Eventually got home about 4.45pm after dropping Raymond’s food off en route back.
AND was hungry so i ate one of the packets of chicken slices while driving home but First proper meal of the day … 2 pork chops. I was going to eat a ribeye with them but when I saw how big they were and having snacked on the chicken, I thought I would eat the steak a little later with the bacon which is how things happen. Had the 2nd meal about 7.30pm which is a bit late for me but I had to have it otherwise I would have no strength for tomorrows workout at CF.
Oh and I forgot to mention …
I walked straight passed the cheapo cheese too and didn’t succumb!!! I think its been about 5 days now! It is getting easier, can’t wait till the temptation feelings subside completely as I know they will the longer I abstain.
Lots of reading to do here, finally got to the end though. Great to see how everybody’s been this weekend. I love and depend on this thread.
@Fangs remember Winston Churchill said “if you’re going through hell, keep going” and you are, and you’ll be glad you did, although I know you’re not very glad right now. Hang in there, we’re with you.
@Karen18 love seeing the plants. Your little frog pond will give you hours of enjoyment through the summer and fall, sounds lovely!
Yesterday after teaching all morning I made us shrimp and bacon for lunch. Cooked a lb of bacon just to get enough fat for baconnaise and then the baconnaise broke. Probably the fat was still too hot. It did thicken somewhat on cooling though so I kept it. Weird but edible.
We rushed over to this 3:00 gig only to find we’d been given the wrong time, should have been 6-9:30, go we finally came back home for an hour rest and went back out again.
The gig was great fun, a Saturday night Texas roadhouse atmosphere. I drank a couple Coors Lights. They’re so light, there’s not even an aftertaste. The guys voted I should have that, and it didn’t cause me any stress. Normally I just drink my water and people leave me alone.
At home again, the heart was ready so had some of that sliced, no further preparation. Tender. Kind of extreme but not too much.
Fat free. (you cut off that hard thick fat on the outside.)
Today I got home from the church where I play, had an hour or so before a Toastmasters speech contest where I was a judge. I seared a couple slices of heart and some of the bacon along with some Kerrygold cheese… Perfecto! The bacon fat perfectly balances the lean heart and the cheese helps the meal hit more “carnivore foods groups!” (I love that!) so satisfying, I’m thinking of doing it again tonight.
I’m skimming the book “It Takes Guts” by Ashleigh Vanhouten. I say skimming because although she gives great information on the nutrient value of a number of organ meats, she isn’t carnivore and none of the recipes I’ve looked at so far can be used for this woe. We could pick up some ideas but they’d need significant editing.
Day two of beef and beef fat salt and egg coffee been cutting off the beef fat from the brisket and having that raw first, then cooking the beef meat and eating that after…
Results that I’m getting full and it’s lasting for hours so I’m guessing it’s closer to pkd…
I just bake heart long enough to cook the outter layer and kill germs on surface. I also often pair high protein low fat heart with a fatty cut or bone marrow. For example thymus or tongue or cheeks with heart all pair well by adding fat to the meal. Sometimes I overbake but other times the inside is still cool to the touch, certainly tastes better when only warmed up on the inside but not cooked per se.
I used to stir fry heart as it cooks so quickly of course I don’t do stir fry any more now I am carnivore but I guess just slicing and stir frying it in butter or ghee would do without all the gubbins that one would normally chuck in a stir fry. May have to give it a go sometime as I used to quite like it in the odd occasion. Perhaps I don’t tend to buy it cos I found such a cheapo shop to get my steaks from these days , I probably bought heart as a cheap but healthy meal back in the day x
I bet ya might HAHA I was a mushroom lover. steak with mushrooms, loved it til one day I said, omg those mushrooms do zilch for me and gonzo they went easily so ya never know!
ok carnivores, stevia is not carnivore point blank…now if one wants it then cool, there are no zc police at one’s doorstep, LOL but all sweeteners of any kind are dumped from carnivore lives if we do this plan. This is just a PSA for newbies.
I had to dump tea from carnivore. About 6 mos into zc any tea I did drink made my mouth go super dry and my tongue kinda go numb like and it was nasty. Tannins in tea. It snuck up on me. I think the cleaner my body became the truth of what tea was for me with the tannins in it just nailed me. Dumped tea then and never looked back too
@Karen18
beauty pics!!
girl ya don’t stop do ya
---------------got dragged out to Japan restaurant. just got plain steak with plain jumbo shrimp. waitress was mystified by my order, lol, but I got exactly that and it was good enough.
today I got chicken. just plain old chicken breast and maybe sardines to boot with another lb. of bacon included.
I am in ‘who cares about food’ mood right now. No hankering for any steak, burger, chops or ribs or nothing. Chicken and sardines and bacon sound just fine and dandy.
ZC on strong all.
@Fangs I do stop … quite often hahaha I can’t do all the amount I used to so I just do what I can, take plenty breaks and on those days when my body tells me I need to have complete rest, I listen to it and obey
@JJFiddle your foody pics look fab. The pond is very dinky and the guy at the g/c said too shallow to put any of the plants he has into it. Apparently they can’t sell the ones you just chuck in that float on top any more but did suggest I pick up a bit of duck weed. I have a nature reserve within a short walking distance and a park with a river across the road from me so I am sure I will be able to pick some up. May take a walk tomorrow afternoon after I get home from work to look for some, supposed to be another nice day.
Well i was laying in bed this morning after a fairly good sleep, just a trip or 2 or 3 to the loo during the night but all in all not a bad night., looking at my phone and what the CrossFit workout was this morning and the thought did cross my mind to cancel … more flipping thrusters after Saturdays open games workout! however after my stair runs I thought I ought to go as its the strength stuff I need to concentrate on for a bit.
So CrossFit it was and I actually had quite a good workout and quite enjoyed it truth be known.
Came straight home afterwards and sat outside with a brew and enjoyed the sunshine and my pretty garden.
Spent quite a bit of time working out what type of soil I needed for each of the plants sitting in my kitchen that need potting and then decided I was a bit peckish so grabbed the second packet of sliced cooked chicken as I wasn’t sure I felt overly hungry. Mind you I was burping a bit through the workout which could have been attributed to an empty fuel tank lol. It didn’t hold me, instead it just made me feel I needed to eat something else so at 2.20pm I had the other 2 of 4 pork chops. Very tasty and big and no real problem getting through them
After those big chops I was out to local asda, wilko and then to g/c and then home to unload planters, heavy bags of soil and oooops 3 climbers
Just had a lovely ribeye steak … it was thicker than the others I sliced from the big slabs so I am guessing it was the end bit. Flippin lovely, I was almost drooling as I ate it hahaha.
Well where did the 2 weeks go that i have had off, back to work tomorrow fortunately just 5 hours then same Wednesday and Friday! Ohh its going to take me ages to catch up on all your posts for next couple of days and I do so enjoy reading them when I have this spare time. X
Well hubby threw the brisket Into the new oven and took me out a ribeye so there went my fat…
So I decided id try to make butter mayo to go with it…
Omg so yummy the steak was about 1lb so since I was adding a ton of fat in the sauce I cut the rib eye in half…so pleased I did I was so full…
2nd meal was brisket and hollandaise sauce
today is chicken I need to eat cause I got it defrosted!
will pair up with leftover country pork ribs I cooked yesterday. hit a pack at the grocers that was on markdown, cooked the whole big value pack and now I got leftovers to eat. yum.
keeping food very simple. best way forward for me always.
March the march zc strong!
Rib-eye turned into two meals. Definitely noticing eating volume reduction in March. Staying on plan. Less time to read and write.
Still make time for the beach.
Good to hear from you and always welcome a dog on the beach to start my day.
Hahaha yes lol always look a right mess when I go to CF in fact anywhere out these days unless i am off dan I guess of course then I have to get glammed up
Lady, you are my new inspiration! I can now truly envision you doing those stair runs like a beast. Nothing lovelier on a woman than some mean muscles. Truly.
Aww thank you Robin, they’re just returning after being on holiday since the blip hahaha. Truly think its the carnivore woe especially since dropping cheese this past week. my work trousers were looser this morning by a good inch round the waist! That is not me deliberately trying to lose weight, I think it has just come about from dropping the cheese as I was really eating too much of the stuff. Also my poo is easier not that i was constipated before but it definitely moves better and thats all I am going to say about that lol.
Up after a crap night, as per when I have work next day… up at silly o’clock, 4.45am. Stair runs done, bath done and into work. Just 5 hours today and heading home at 12 15 and was quite hungry when I got home so tucked I to a cooked whole chicken. Ate the two legs and thighs and left the breast. Prefer dark meat. Bones and skin will go into a pan to make some drinking stock later, may put the breast in and turn it in to a soup. Always nice for if I feel a bit of hunger before bed.
Now having a brew sitting in the warm sunshine, though probably not as warm as @FrankoBear’s seaside . Beautiful photo as always.
I have a couple of pork medalions and a ribeye defrosting for dinner. Don’t usually get medalions as they aren’t very fatty but these have a nice amount of rind to them and I bought 10 for £3 so they have to be a winner x
@Fangs I am doing exact same thing as you and keeping it simple.
Butter mayo! What a great idea! It takes over a lb of bacon to get my cup of bacon fat for my baconnaise. But I’d use ghee, still have that post covid dairy yuck-taste. May always have it.
@Karen18 yes OMG had to blow up the pic and see that amazing musculature! Whoa! Love your description of your neighborhood park and lake, what a peaceful place to live. Your little pond will be gorgeous.
Still have the D anytime I eat fat but I’m learning not to read instructions too seriously (now will take Immodium @bedtime) and not to eat fat @night. It was pretty bad yesterday after the eggs & bacon - almost missed a violin lesson - but slept like a baby all night.
My morning snack today is this icky lowfat turkey meat and a little chunk of Kerrygold cheese. Just to hold me through that early lesson, into steak time!
@JJFiddle Thanks Judy. Tbh I live on a very busy road and when I sit in my kitchen or in the garden I can hear the traffic but I like a bit of noise, just makes me feel that i am not totally isolated as I live on my own. Daughter only lives nearby, takes me about 5 minutes to drive to her house so I am not 100% on my own. We don’t live in each others pockets … I am not a needy type of person and do like my own space and my own company. However, yes I am fortunate to have a nature reserve on my doorstep within walking distance and the park across the road. If I walk to the nature reserve it connects with a major river which can take one in a couple of directions, both of which can give you a good long walk or you can take a smaller 3 mile circular route. The way me and my daughter used to like to walk takes you passed fields of beautiful Angus cows, llamas and woolley sheep, down to the river, along to an adjoining canal then eventually splits again to either follow the canal or take a cut through a couple of roads, round the back of the superstore and that meets the back of the park across the road so you eventually end up opposite my house again. That’s an 8 mile loop walk and is a beautiful. Plenty of doggos to talk to along the way lol. We discovered so many local walks throughout lockdown and all on our doorstep. You would think we would have discovered them years ago but of course we always drove further afield to the peak district and other places. Lockdown did us good lol.
You know… A lot of good things came out of the pandemic. I’m teaching online! Pocket cash for my ribeyes!
