Carnivore ZC SurfTurf-tember! 30-day September Challenge. 2022

(Robin) #121

Okay. Ya’ll are making me nervous. Everyone has had their say and at the end of the day, that’s all we can do. Then let it go.

Norman Lear had a saying, I try to remember. Actually, just two words.
OVER.
and
NEXT.

Now, back to our September Carnivore Challenge….

(Doug) #123

Indeed - the lack of perceived body language and voice tone is a big deal. If anything, I think some increased care on the part of the writer is thus called for, picturing how things could be taken, not just how the writer is thinking; the end product being a little more precision in language.

#124

I read your inflection Dougy.

You illustrate the precise point I wished to make,

G-D bless.

(Doug) #125

Coop, yeah - there are many times when I have to revise what I put down, because it’s not going to be true in all cases, or needs better qualification, etc. (And it’s amazing how different people can be, so we need to make allowances…) :slightly_smiling_face:.

#126

LOL.

I think nobody undertands me on here sometimes!

Good night folks!

:+1:

T-bone steak last night. The weather is still cold enough to cook over the fire. Yesterday’s breakfast was 3 pasture fed chicken eggs. But I got 4 yolks. A double yoker! cooked with 3 rashers of bacon in last nights lamb chop fat.

I’m enjoying being at home in the countryside and in full control of meals with wholefood cooking at home.

Outside is carpeted in sea daisies (and bees).

#129

Me sleepo…you wakeo!

G’night/morning. :+1:

Have you considered meal prepping for your time in school.
We bought a portable fridge / freezer so I could send some meals for my husband just to heat and eat on the road…maybe you could do that with your ribs and clean sausage or lamb…,?

#131

you had me in suspense over those different BP readings! Yes, take chillin’ with a good read in your wonderful new garden any day of the week :sunny:

Girl, is that like red chili pepper flakes on those ribs? omg I would be in hospital is I tackled that, lol. You still ok eating a big spice like that?
The pic of them ribs looks yummy as heck

double yolks in each egg, well darn, you are a winner
I can just tell how much you love your wonderful homestead country environment! I read it in every word ya type about it and every cool pic turned illustration you post on it!

FB where ya stayin’ again when ya go into the city for your ‘appointed’ amt of time when you have to work? I can’t remember…I know there was food issues and cooking troubles etc. but I can’t remember what your ‘city set up’ is, drawing a blank on it again.

@Azi, a portable fridge/freezer. Like to be kept in a vehicle? just curious on size and all, got a little pic of that gadget? would love to see it  thanks

------------------so food flipped a bit on me. I went first meal chicken. Yea the ribeye and possible side of shrimp had 0 draw to me. I sautee’d up 2 big ol’ skinless boneless chick breasts, added a big ol fat wedge of butter and just loved them. What the body was asking for and second meal I thought would be a higher draw since chick doesn’t ‘hold’ me near like beef…but nope. No desire for a second big meal. I split a thin pork loin cut with hubby. I made 1/2 of it ‘his way’ which is tons of bbq sauce etc., ick to me of course :sunny: and the other 1/2 I cut into small pork medallions and fried in a pan of good ol’ brown butter. total yum.

but I will hit the 2 small ribeyes today. gotta use them so will hold off til hungry enough to really want them.

I am in that zc flip zone…I ‘feel like eating lighter’ and ‘less’ and will do that until I get more rav again. Possibly due to weather change hitting, I SO FEEL the hot weather leaving, so FEEL that darn little nip in the air now so will just eat as I want. Always do that but I know I am in that lighter eat zone, for how long, who knows but meal focus is changing a bit for me.

darn I thought I took pic of my pork medallions but heck I can’t find it HA
sure can’t take another pic, they are long since eaten LOL

ZC ON STRONG EVERYONE!! Keep the ZC focus in our challenge thread!

(Linda ) #132

This is one we got because can use it all as a fridge all as a freezer or split half freezer half fridge…
And yeah it can go in back of car just had to plug it in…

Argh! Destructo-Rottie aka Lulu, my 8 month old rottie pup, just had a big chew session on her very expensive dog bed. It’s not fatally wounded, but close.

The brain zaps continue and they are wearing me down sometimes. They started a good month or so before I decided to slowly come off my anti-depressant. I’m almost at the end of my taper and am hopeful my mood will continue to be okay. But if they don’t stop soon I may need to hike off to the doc. Going to the doc is a big deal for me, b/c leaving the house is a big deal. A still powerful abuse survivor remnant, and avoidance has always been my main coping mechanism.

I’ve got some brisket in my slow cooker and it’s smelling wonderful. I think it’s going to be a bit weird eating it without the things I would have previously put in it for added taste. But I really like the taste of salt so here’s hoping that’s enough.

I ran out of greek yoghurt about a week ago and haven’t bought any more yet. It’s meant I haven’t had any to eat before bed, which has been fine, but I’m really missing the mouth taste and feel. My one bit of variety. A different taste that isn’t meat.

I’m taking the dogs out for a run today now the bug, or whatever, has passed and I feel up to it. I thought Lulu was coping super well with only being tread milled, until I saw her bed! lol

I re-use the vinegar. It works out cheaper to buy fresh mussels and share the pack between a few jars,

(Karen) #135

With you @robintemplin.
I like this thread when its a peaceful place, when @FrankoBear is expressing his literary musings and his beautiful photographs and when we are being friendly and supportive but I can now feel my anxiety levels rising. I like that we have become friends and got to know each other. Sorry but I don’t want to debate, that wasn’t what made me want to join this thread.

(Robin) #136

Thanks Karen… that means a lot coming from you. Although we all have our different approaches to our woe, I believe we can stay civil and respectful.

(Karen) #137

You know the biggest reason for loving the community on this thread is that I have got to know about the lives of some really lovely people from all walks of life and all countries. It is like a little blog from each of us about our daily lives I love hearing about @JJFiddle and her music and gigs and her moves up and down the country and how her brother is doing, about @Fangs and her trips away in her RV and all the shanagans on the beach that she talks about so enthusiastically, and I love her straight talking about @Shinita and Alvaro and her love of rock painting and nature, about @FrankoBear and his to-ing and fro-ing from country to town and how he cooks on his stove and being able to support each other when crisis hits which it has in abundance this past year. And of course our near as damn it zero carb life we all are trying to lead and the different reasons we are eating this way. I have loved the daily reads since I joined the thread 2 years ago. Feeling the need to confess this really saddens me.

(Megan) #138

I’m glad it’s such a wonderful community for you Karen, that’s important. Life can be rough and it’s good to have people. Why does talking about what you did sadden you?

Our family owns a house in the city. My little brother lives there. I stay there.
Before getting messed up with COVID vaccine reactions and COVID, I used to get up early and cook my lunch which was carnivore wholefoods wrapped in a single egg omelette x 3.
Part of getting messed up was the incompetency of my work managers and their bureaucracy, which is ongoing. We have different ethics and values. The workplace is stressful. Currently the workers are voting for industrial action. The teaching work is rewarding, however. The time in the classroom with the students is where I want to be.
I am fed by my mother-in-law on one night of 3 at a family dinner that leans toward keto as it has been prepared for me. The family connections with my city in-laws is the key ingredient at that weekly dinner.
The two other nights I hang out with my Mum. She cooks me baked beef ribs. Hot from the oven on the first night, and cold leftovers on the next night.
For a few months, with things in a groove, I was able to OMAD at work and just eat the 3 evening meals in family company. Then 2MAD, NoFUN, bacon & eggs breakfast, coffee addiction, ruminant red meat dinner when at home.
The 3-hour drive to the city and then home is subconsciously stressful and tiring. It’s a trade-off for living in the countryside.

I was at the beach this morning, THE beach, with Billie the Labrador. It’s our local beach. Surrounded by National Park. It’s a proper Spring day. The sunshine is hot. There was some rain. Nice rain. I felt strong and grateful. I was doing a walking yoga nidra meditation where I mindfully scanned myself. I realised many of the aches of the past year have gone. The soreness is replaced with that welcome activity and movement feels. I sat cross-legged in the sand with my shirt off, bear feet, in my surfing boardshorts. I could taste the salty air, hear the crashing waves, gentle breeze through the dreadlocks, see the coastal nature all around (and Billie rolling in something stinky and marine). It was comfortable. I remember struggle stumbling to the rocks on the beach only recently after COVID, out of breath, not sure if I could make the return walk and climb the beach stairs. Now the same walk is as nothing. It’s a fun time with my dog on the beach.

Those 3 simple words that are not easy to live. “Stay on plan”, and maybe to one’s self, “I love you.” Bacon and eggs for breakfast after 1pm and woodfire, rare-cooked T-bone steak last night for dinner.

I been here since day 1 when Cheryl started the Carnivore Challenge thread  It has been alot of years also and do not be sadded to NEED a ZC support thread!! I need it also…still to this day, 5 yrs into my eating lifestyle change. I require this sanctuary and I am for the better having this carnivore thread!

This all in carnivore support thread is a life line to me when one practices a very limited and tough eating lifestyle and we do have alot of work to do on ourselves to hold onto this plan for some of us. So this support is much needed by me on the thread and thank heavens we got a wonderful ZC group here. Which have of course became good friends also! Can’t ask for anything better, a lifestyle carnivore support thread to help us daily and the best darn people to chat about it with! win win

--------Now let’s all chat carnivore and we got it made in the shade  Pics of big ol’ meat plates, and delish fatty meat meals. Will post up a nice pick of pork chops and sirloin steak later, my contribution to ‘eat the meats photo of the day’ …,weee…

my ribeye steak yesterday was so good…tender…hit one of those lovely melt in mouth each bite. Pleasure to have that meal.

defrosting 3 pork chops for later. Got a large sirloin steak for family, will get me a good hunk of that too  So am covered for good ol’ zc food for today.

I am getting a hankering for a reg. ol’ can of tuna and mayo LOL Not sure when I will eat it but has been on my mind lately. Seems like ‘too much work’ to make it HAHA Yes opening a can and having to mix mayo in to ‘me is work’…yes I know guys, me crazy on that but I tell ya, life is so simple on zc, meat, pan, heat, eat that any work involved more than that just irks me  :sunny:

So…darn nerve issue hitting me…ugh. got sciatic problem. 1/2 my azz is numb, into my hip area that is hurting and feels like when I walk I wanna ‘go down’ big time. Hurts the hip joint area alot…damn nerves! Nerve issues can nail ya to the wall…so I am walking very crooked today, I don’t think I will be doing much.

get hubby out door to work
kid to school and I think I am gonna go hit an ice pack and hope!

Onward!! We still got a good bit of Sept to tackle! Oct tho I am sure will be looming on us before ya know it. Everyone’s weather will be flip flopping, those cold now will have summer heat, my nice hot heat will be leaving and into the cold I go. Hold strong all!

OK editing this for my defrost meat pics.
Darn, there are only 2 pork chops in my bag! ugh. I package by 3s but this musta been the leftover only 2 package to pack-----

@Fangs has coined another TWS - 3 word saying, "Heat, meat, eat"

I just sucked the marrow from a Spring lamb leg. So good, yum.
