Carnivore on budget?

Its really tough to directly compare protein and fats of different cuts between pork and beef, but beef takes the win with Heme iron, B12, and Zinc.

(TJ Borden) #65

Agreed… oh wait…

(TJ Borden) #66

Do you have a citation for this at least?

(TJ Borden) #68

How do you figure?

(TJ Borden) #70

So, no.

(Chris) #71

If you disagree with this statement, I assure you it’s bullshit.

The burden of proof isn’t on me to back up what I claim.

I’m on my phone (read: HANDHELD COMPUTER PROBABLY BETTER THAN THE ONE YOU HAVE AT HOME, SPECWISE) and searching r hard.

Why don’t you google it?

(Doug) #75

Speaking of liver, many people don’t like the taste of beef liver, but I think that number increases substantially when it comes to pig’s liver - that is one strong taste! However, there are those aficionados of liverwurst, etc…

(TJ Borden) #76

I might… as soon as I figure out how what you just said. So you’re acknowledging your own statement isn’t true because it’s negative?

(TJ Borden) #77

The studies above are a mix of observational and epidemiological studies, and demonstrate associations that have yet to be put through any kind of clinical testing.

Take the #3 article for example. They observed diet at intervals and drew conclusions from their observations without any randomized control to account for any number of other factors. How many of the parents smoked in the home? Did that have an impact on asthma versus diet?

They don’t know because they were only looking at the diet, and even that was observational, likely relying on what the parents reported back.

What else you got?

Seems to me that Pork and Beef are quite complimentary.

Babe

= more Choline, Potassium, Phosphorus and Magnesium.
= far more Vitamin D (beef only has it in organs like kidneys/liver).
= much more B1, more B2 and E.

Babe1

= more Manganese and Copper.
= much more Vitamin B12
= much more Iron and Zinc.

(TJ Borden) #79

That was pretty much my understanding too. I still think beef has the edge, and I ther than pork belly (in all its magnificent forms), I probably eat more beef than pork.

Alex just seems to be a bit hypocritical…and I’m trying to avoid working. :joy:

on a purely n=1 level, beef feels far more nourishing IMO. I love good pork chops and bbq, but its just not the same. That primal pleasure grunt is far greater from beef

(TJ Borden) #81

That makes sense. The more I think about it, a steak stands on its own. Bacon, although delicious need eggs, or better yet, a steak AND eggs to go along with it to be a meal. Actually, bacon, steak, and eggs is the holy trinity as far as I’m concerned.

If you have a Costco near you, shop for your meat there! They have excellent meat options! I used to take my mom and she bought all her chicken, pork, and beef there because it was inexpensive but good quality.
