So I have been doing keto for almost a month now along with my girlfriend. I recently started a 48 hour fast, I watched a few videos on how it helps repair a slow metabolism and it’s also good for weight loss which is why I’m doing all this.
I’m currently at hour 29 and not hungry at all, I get a couple grumbles here and there from my stomach, but it passes. I also think about eating a few times, but only because I see it on t.v. or hear it on the radio. I just started working two jobs so I’m on my feet and moving about 13 hours a day. My first job is pretty physical and my second is very physical for 5 hours straight.
I have a few questions.
1- What meal would be a good way to break my fast? I’m 23 5’7" I was at 211 lbs before fast and currently at 207.
2- Will those few lbs I have lost so far come back once I eat? I want to say that they will, but I dont know.
3- My girlfriend has also been fasting, but on accident. Her hunger and snacking has gone down SO MUCH since we started Keto. I am worried she is not eating enough, she eats very little to nothing and she keeps saying she’s just not hungry or she will get hungry and it will pass very quickly.
4- What sort of damages can one expect from fasting like my girlfriend is right now.
5- Will I experience muscle loss?
6- How frequent do you all fast?
7- I have had some very bad insomnia lately. Tips on something to help? I’m hoping two jobs will help with that.

What’s happening with your girlfriend is normal potentially as long as it does not last and she doesn’t ignore hunger when it happens. My first week keto was 3000 calories a day, my next almost 2 weeks were about 900. It evened out to 1800-2000. If she comes from calorie restricting in the past, her hunger signals may be off and if this lasts longer than about 2 weeks she should definitely eat to her TDEE. Keto and fasting are not about calorie restricting and that needs to be noted. Now, not being a more than a day faster myself, here’s a link to the fasting section of the forum.
