I haven’t read “Keto Clarity”, but really learned a lot from the other three.

I’d also add Taubes’ other book, “Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It” for people who want the Cliff’s Notes version of the history of/context for why conventional nutritional recommendations are what they are, and what the data instead actually show is good for our bodies.

There’s a lot of value in Robert Lustig’s “Fat Chance”, too, though he falls short of recommending a ketogenic diet, focusing on how cutting sugar and highly-processed, unnaturally shelf-stable food out of your diet can improve your overall health. I think this book is actually a great example of how, even in the face of overwhelming evidence (Lustig treats obese children), it can be incredibly hard for people in the medical professions to recommend a low carb, high fat diet. Lustig is really detailed in the case he makes against sugar and processed foods, but can’t extend that logic to, say, potatoes, which are highly insulinogenic.

I just listened to it too, and have been prompted to go back and re-read Always Hungry.

Thanks for the heads up! I didn’t know Taubes had a new book. ON IT :nerd_face::blue_book:

The Obesity Code opened up my mind to the process of understanding why low carb/high fat works. Made sense and started me on this journey.

The Big Fat Surprise was a great read but it also made me really angry at the “establishment”.

I’m in the middle of The Case Against Sugar. Another great read. Has the same theme as The Big Fat Surprise which is dogma over science.

All of the books mentioned here are must reads.

The Complete Guide to Fasting: Heal Your Body Through Intermittent, Alternate-Day, and Extended Fasting, by Jimmy Moore and Dr. Jason Fung is well written and gives access to Dr. Fung’s experiences from helping hundreds of people to lose weight and get their diabetes under control.

Would you recommend starting with “Why we get Fat”, or can one jump straight into “The Case Against Sugar”?

@Joanna_Osterloh
They are both great and could be read in any order.

Who’s read this? Was the science on track?

Just arrived this morning! If I didn’t have to be on the road most of the day I know what I’d be doing the next few hours. Looking forward to digging into this one.
