Biltong AKA South African Jerky

My mom posted this recipe on our food blog. Biltong is similar to jerky except that there’s no sugar. Seems like every package of jerky has sugar.

If you don’t have a box (or don’t want to build one), you can also use a fruit dehydrator. Cut up the pieces once it’s dried. It’s great as a snack. You can also use beef if you don’t have venison.

Biltong is awesome, most commercial Biltong you buy in the UK has sugar in the ingredients list but it’s usually a tiny amount - nowhere near what a typical Beef Jerky has in.

There is a great little shop in Andover that does amazing Biltong and the cheapest we have found in the S/SW so far. Also they do a reward card where, after buying several purchases, you get 50% off the bill - and there is no limit on that purchase! Amazing stuff :smile:
