Best way to stop losing any more weight?

#1

I’m really struggling to maintain my weight and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for quick and easy ways to bump up my caloric intake without compromising on the keto diet.

I’m tracking macros and am loving the effects of the keto diet on all aspects of my life, but the weight loss is really hard to stop and it is getting to the point where I am having to force myself to eat even when not hungry.

Ps - I started the keto diet to assist in controlling my Type 1 Diabetes and am really pleased with the improvements. I plan to continue with it long term but cannot afford to lose any more weight.

Thanks,

Do you exercise?

Just let your weight go where it goes ?
20 more carbs a day and smidge more insulin ?

If I had Type 1 and I had more even glucose levels with less highs and lows, I would leave it as is.

Just wait for the stall, you’ll be fine.

Yes, I swim most mornings, 4 or 5 times a week.

Agreed @VLC.MD - the highs and lows are reduced and the last thing I want is to risk that changing.

I’m not keen on increasing my carb intake really, I tend to get kicked out of ketosis quite easily if I go above the 20-25g mark. Also, carbs seem to have a much more significant impact on my BG level that they did pre-keto, so the amount of insulin needed to balance the increase is more that I want to be taking and can affect otherwise stable levels for a couple of days.

I think I will just have to be more disciplined and make sure I always eat enough to have a calorie excess.

More fat is what’s needed as you’ve trained your body to feed on fat and it doesn’t care if that’s dietary fat or body fat. Give it more dietary fat and it’ll fuel itself on that rather than your body fat.

My dad has the same problem. There are lots of calorie dense, high fat deserts especially if you can handle dairy. Nuts (especially macadamia) have lots of calories and few carbs. My dad is incorporating more fat bombs, especially savory ones, into his diet.
