Best Decaf Coffee

(FRANK) #1

On a quest to find the best tasting decaff coffee in a Keurig k-cup. What is your favorite?

I like Starbucks house blend decaf

Not a K-cup, but Folgers decaf crystals are good!

#4

I mix Folgers decaf with cacao powder.

I’m curious whether you have a ratio worked out, even approximately? Or x teaspoons per X tablespoons of ground coffee?

I tend to mix coffees together anyway but hadn’t thought about just adding some cocoa powder to the coffee. When we do coffee in the evening, it’s always decaf (Folgers) and it’s ok, just sometimes I wish I could add some different flavors to it. None of our local grocery stores have flavors in decaf. This might open up a new possibility.

I put a bit of water in a cup and microwave for 30 sec. to provide liquid to dissolve the cacao powder. It tends to clump.
Add equal amounts of Folgers decaf and cacao powder (about a tsp) into the heated water and mix til dissolved.
Add unsweetened coconut milk, leaving a bit of room at top.
Add HWC to top. Add stevia to taste.
Heat in microwave.
Depending on the size of your cup, the measurements will vary.
This sounds complicated, but is quick and easy and never keeps me up at night.

And it’s instant Folgers, not ground.

Honestly stopped all decaf a while ago after researching how they are made.

Before that, none really tasted good, I would optimize on most healthy instead of flavor.

Hmmm… I make my coffee in a Mr. Coffee drip coffee maker. I might be able to stir maybe a tsp of cocoa into the dry coffee grounds in the basket before the brewing starts and see what that does, maybe a little more. I add a little salt to it right in there, too. I tend to make a pot, as in 8-10 cups, at a time so maybe even a little more than the teaspoon of cocoa. I’ll have to give it a try and see what happens.
