Are these symptoms of Keto Flu?

#1

I started my Keto journey July 6th 2018. I know everyone is different on when they start to experience symptoms of Keto flu, but I’m not sure if I’m experiencing that at all!

Let me preface by saying, I have never had the flu, so I don’t know what it feels like. I’m been nauseated for about 4 days now. I’m fine when I’m sitting and laying down, but standing or move causes extreme nausea that isn’t relieved unless I sit or lay. I am not hungry at all and eating seems to just make me feel sicker.

If this is Keto flu, how long does this last and what are some fixes. I work as a flight attendant, so I am up on my feet all the time. Summer is here, so I work a lot and I am thinking of just throwing in the towel so I can feel well again.

Try eating some salt. Just shake a bunch in your palm, lick your finger and eat a bunch of it this way.

If the nausea goes away in a few minutes, it’s Keto flu, which is actually your electrolytes being low.

Make sure to take care of sodium, magnesium and potassium levels, but most importantly sodium.

I’ve been drinking the 1.5 liter Dasani waters which has added salt in it, I assume for flavor. Do you think it is not enough? I will look into adding more salt into my diet as well as purchasing some potassium and magnesium supplements. See if that helps.

Thank you for the response.

Everyone always underestimated how much salt they need on Keto. Like I said, give that a try and if it works, it definately means you’re low on salt. If it doesn’t, it’s something else.

Be very careful with the other two though . Too much Magnesium can give you diarrhea and too much potassium is very dangerous. Potentially lethal. Salt helps regulate potassium release from the cells, so if you stay on top of salt, you shouldn’t need to supplement potassium more than just a good multi-vitamin.

You can also search this forum for Brenda Zorn’s ketoade recipie that is an electrolyte drink for all three. If you follow her recipie, drink about 3 a day. You should be all good.

I ordered through Amazon, Dr. Berg’s Electrolyte Powder. I just started Keto, and it was recommended by a good friend who has been on it for 15 months. You just add it to your water and the electrolytes will help you get through this phase. Hang in there. This too shall pass.
