Are roasted macadamia nuts okay?

(Empress of the Unexpected) #1

So I decided to go pro today and picked up macadamia nuts. I’m an almond and walnut fan - macadamias weren’t something I would normally buy. Kinda remembered the taste from some Christmas nut mix when I was a kid, and thought I would find them too sweet. Anyway, had a choice of “natural” or “roasted with sea salt.” Got the roasted with sea salt. Is there any problem with the roasted aspect of them? It seems like a great way to get some fat in.

None I could find! Except maybe they need more salt.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #3

Yeah - I salted my already salted nuts!

From the pictures I thought you were female…:rofl:

Why, did I know, when I typed that sentence, that someone……(like youzzez) would be so quick to pick up on it!!!.

ahhhh I guess you know me too well…
And I love my nuts roasted and salted - I might like them even better fried - but haven’t tried that yet!

Yes, I think the forum should issue SOH badges. You’ve earned yours!

You need to try some if you can find any. I found these Fried Marcona Almonds recently and LOVE them!

(Empress of the Unexpected) #9

Yum. First time I’ve even heard of fried nuts.

Be careful. Those little buggers are addictive.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #11

I know, the carbs. But I find them to be just okay, but definitely not as addicting as other nuts (she says on day one…)

Oh, wait for it. You’re still a macadamia newbie. It’s like taking your first hit on a cigarette. 2 months in you’ll be doing a pack a day. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

No comprendo. SOH?

(Empress of the Unexpected) #14

Sense of Humor, or humour, depending on where you are.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #15

Uh oh. Cause they cost a fortune!

(Raj Seth) #16

Doh!

They’re probably the best nut for keto. They’re very high in fat and very low carb. Gotta watch out though. At around 2 net carbs per ounce they do add up eventually. Luckily they tend to be quite filling. A serving holds me quite nicely usually.

I can eat 500 g of Macadamia Nuts in a week. I am maintaining my weight, and I thought it better to not keep them in the house for the time being.
Lol. I will probably go buy some when I come off my current fast.
I love them!
Australian Macadamia Nuts are the best!

Their so addicting. My gas station sells them in 2oz packs of Royal Hawaiian ones with sea salt. I was eating a pack or two a day, I have to hurry in the gas station or I’ll grab some.

(less is more, more or less) #20

Yes. So much so that I limit how much I buy. They are the best “nut” for LCHF/Keto, but that doesn’t mean empty the bag you just bought. Roasted or not shouldn’t matter but I could be wrong.
