Anyone have any New Year's Resolutions re Keto?

(Brennan) #82

I had done the other version in the past, by nature they can’t last too long and I’m thinking not very keto! Overall a poor choice lol

My uniform for life…with a dress and cardigan on top. GO LEGGINGS!!

Absolutely agree with you there, but for me it is a convenient date to remember. I can vividly remember my keto start date (April 19 of this year), but also have had a few cheat meals, and have been learning as I go. I am considering the period between April 19 and today as simply my keto “warm-up.” My new goal is food without ingredients, or minimal. Checking ingredients in deli meats carefully. Not having cheat meals. Even my pickles have food coloring in them!! No malitol - that kind of thing, and starting Jan. 1 will make it easier to track my progress.

I do not really do resolutions. But, will continue with Keto, exercise and working towards a better self.

:slightly_smiling_face: Brian.

Speaking of parties, January 1 is when the partying stops for many of us, at least for a bit.

Doing mostly keto for New Year’s here, Doug. We don’t drink so don’t have any issue with alcohol. Making a corned beef in the sous vide right now to go along with some sauerkraut. My wife is making some coleslaw and I’m in process of making some keto chocolate peanut butter whoopie pies and am thinking about making some ginger muffins with an orange glaze topping (have never done that one before but it sounds interesting to me). A friend coming for dinner New Year’s Day is bringing some deviled eggs. Another friend is bringing some blackeyed peas and tomatoes, that’s not so keto friendly, and I think my wife is going to make a few sweet potatoes, also not so keto friendly. I do plan to have a little of those last two but not nearly enough to get excited about. So that’s our dinner plans. Breakfast will likely be a little Greek yogurt and coffee.

Oh, and we’ll sit around either before or after and play some games, probably cards of some kind, laugh, and have a good time. Is that a party? LOL!!

That’s a good kind of a party. :slightly_smiling_face:

(Lazy, Dirty Keto 😝) #89

That’s the way to go :raised_hands:t4:

(Kim) #90

Yes thats the best party! Nostalgic childhood memories…When people actually did stuff besides eat and leave

Thank you. You as well =)

Those are very good goals! Good luck to you.

Happy new year everyone :tada:

Maybe planking instead
Happy New Year

(Running from stupidity) #92

Yep, significantly less issues there, for sure.

(Brian) #93

LOL!! Ya wanna know the very first thought in my head when I read that?

Cedar plank… for a nice piece of salmon. LOL!!

(John) #94

I think I’ll do the “Dry January” challenge. Had a couple of drinks (my usual is just one) last night and my head is paying for it this morning. :face_with_head_bandage:

I resolved to get back on strict Keto (it’s been over a year). Just plain ‘low carb’ was okay for maintaining in general, but I gained back maybe half of what I lost (which only got me halfway to my goal weight in the first place) due to cheat days/weeks/months

(Running from stupidity) #96

There seems to be some sort of internal contradiction there

(Carl Keller) #97

I can’t even buy a sock for $3 at my Target…

(Cindy) #98

I think it makes sense. He mentioned that it was the cheat days/weeks/months that were the problem! LOL As in, staying “low carb” consistently would have been fine…it was all those cheats that were the problem.

Like me saying that my post LapBand eating habits helped me maintain my weight loss…they did. It was the sweet tea, late night snacks, etc (NOT part of the LB habits) that caused the weight gain.

(Running from stupidity) #99

Except that being “just” low carb seems to have been the trigger to allow that behaviour, meaning it was bad

(Cindy) #100

No doubt!

I’m going to stop undesirable autophagy!

Or, in other words, I’m going to cease biting my nails. Shameful life-long habit that I’ve not had any success at defeating. Yet, I used to think the same about being overweight. If only keto solved everything…
