A month

So here’s what’s happened in a month.

  • 8 lbs, - 3.4% bf, - 3.9 lbs lbm.

So how do I keep from losing lbm? I would like to be about 8% bf but don’t want to weigh only 150 lbs to do it. I have arthritis so heavy weight lifting is out of the question.

How are you measuring? If it’s body composition scales ignore the LBM measurement as they’re not accurate. Also keep in mind that LBM is not just muscle, it’s potentially any part of your body that isn’t bone or fat, and that includes faecal matter as the scales seem to register that as LBM too.

Just carry on doing what you’re doing, seems you’re on track.

I use a scale and bf calipers

Skin, which is “lean mass,” mostly, is about one-sixth of our weight. As we lose weight we lose skin, to varying degrees. I think this is often forgotten, and may be thought of as “losing muscle,” when it’s not happenening.

8% of BF is incredibly low, 9.5% is really the bottom IMHO of reasonable achievable and that takes a lot of work.

Depending upon your overall build you will loose some LBM, your body simple does not need it so it gets ride of it. I lost about 6% depending upon how you figure, with about 13% BF loss thus far from 32%, without a dexascan its hard to really get exact figures.

My end goal is 9.5 to 10% and then building from there, its going to be hard to maintain 8% without building from my understanding but I could be wrong. I am curious of your overall plan.

Overall plan is I’m 48. I need to start getting healthy. Keto has already done amazing things with my arthritis aches and pains plus sleep is 100% better. Energy levels are great. Now I would like to see the abs like I could in high school.

Sounds like me just 4 years younger.
