87 year old Grandma and 55 year old mom wanna start keto

Hey guys, I’ve lost 60lbs from keto over the course of a year. My mom that’s a type 2 diabetic has been wanting to start and going back and forth on it. My grandma just was diagnosed with early dementia and congested heart failure. The doctors put her on a low sodium low fat diet. And I don’t believe that’s right. My mom wants to start now and do it with my Grandma pretty much because it will help both of them get healthy if it work.

Does anybody have any tips or info about my Grandma starting and or type 2 diabetics starting. Any info will be gratefully appropriated.

My dad’s 87 with congestive heart failure & I wish I could put him on Keto for the diuretic effects alone. I know it would improve his life, but he won’t drink anything except fruit juice & that’s that. It’s very sad.

My mom who is 83 is taking this all very seriously for herself, however, & doing research. She eats as low carb & high fat as she can, she knows to add salt, but the thing that really helped her was eating within a window & not snacking. She still eats 3 times a day. She said the swelling in her ankles is down & she has more energy during the day.

As for resources, any videos by Jason Fung are great, his book The Obesity Code, Dietdoctor.com has a lot of beginner info.
