I can’t find my original post, but anyway, I was talking about signing up for a 5K for July 4th and wanted to update y’all that I did in fact show up and take it on!
I had that GI bug so I just didn’t eat the day before or that day.
I was a little green around the gills but brought my own water, which was good because the aid station woman was standing over the water cups spraying herself down with DEET. “do you want water?” - I’m good.
It was really hilly with 10%-13% grades on the trail. I didn’t get dropped, I passed a bunch of people and even as a walker managed the course in 60 minutes which is pretty good really. I expected to be the very last person in, and figured my time on route would be around an hour twenty because of the hills.
I didn’t know I was going to go run it until an hour before hand because I had just been so sick, but my husband dragged me out the door, haha, he knew I really wanted to give it a go.
Thanks for the encouragement to take on a 5k. Being able to finish it, and finish it well was a really huge boost to my confidence.
