Hope you get better soon @Fiorella!

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #163

Possibly, or a bug going around. Be sure and keep your electrolytes/hydration up and see a doc if you get worse. Feel better soon! :head_bandage:

(I want abs... olutely all the bacon) #164

How awful for you , I hope steak isn’t the culprit :imp: May you heal quickly :mask::slight_smile::bouquet:

(AnnaLeeThal) #165

That sounds exactly what I had two weeks ago. I think we had norovirus. It was truly the worst.

Day 23, March 22.

#steak juice theif!

Day 24, March 23.
Great ketones, Ketonix blowing one red.

Hackenmueller’s ribeye, 17.5 ounce, and a 6.5 ounce piece of sirloin.

(Alex Dipego) #168

The ribeyes are gorgeous!

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #169

Day 25, March 24.

1 pound 3.5 ounces ribeye and some fatcap sirloin. There was more cooked, but I didn’t finish a 1/4 pound of it. This is a first. Especially because this was a lifting day. I’m normally hungrier. I’ve been consistently eating 1.5 pounds of fatty steak daily. I stopped at satiety. Wanted less today.
Btw, as of this morning, 8 pounds lost.
Blew 4 red on the Ketonix, lifted heaviest ever at the gym, felt fantastic all day.

Where is Floyd??

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #171

Licking my plate!

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #172

Blood glucose before my meal today, and two hours post prandial. 19.5 ounces ribeye beef steak with extra fatcap, 85 grams protein, 125 grams fat. My goal is .8 grams protein per lb LBM, which is over 100 grams protein!

Obviously all this protein in one meal does NOT affect my blood glucose levels.

DAY 26, March 25.
8.5 pounds lost. All time high. It’s been 3 weeks, 6 days that I have eaten steak only. Protein .8 grams per pound LBM (which I have an exact measurement from a DEXA scan), fat to satiety (which has been 125-150 grams a day!!) AND
I’ve been losing a half pound a day lately.

Do you see now why I call bullshit on “low fat keto, eat the fat off your body” malarkey? That’s just crazy talk. And how they must suffer. Sheesh. Hungry constantly no doubt.

FAT IS NOT THE LEVER

Fat is the magical answer to regulating hormones.
INSULIN is the lever.

Ketonix 9 yellow, ketones 2.2, waking BG 98.

Day 26, March 25.
Blew 2 red on the Ketonix just before dinner. Forgot to check blood glucose before I noshed down that chunk of sirloin straight off the grill.
I ate a total of 23.8 ounces of steak tonight. I was hungry! Probably because I lifted heavy yesterday and powered up my lifts by 5-10 pounds on more than one machine! Ketones turn you into superman!
(Not shown is the 3.5 piece of leftover ribeye from yesterday that I also ate. It was already added to the total ounces above.)

Day 27, March 26.
Waking blood glucose and blood ketones.
Ketonix 1 red.

(Lucrecia) #176

I have a question: Why do I get slightly higher BG readings when I eat grass fed ground beef, as compared to grass fed beef steak? This doesn’t make sense to me…

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #178

I read that wrong at first. I thought you were comparing grassfed to corn fed.

Ground beef I imagine is metabolized faster. Just a guess because other foods work this way(like whole vegetables and vegetable juice).
That’s why I did not include ground steak (minute steak for example) in my challenge.

Test several times. A difference of BG by a few points isn’t significant. 10 or more may be.

(Lucrecia) #179

Hmm… I haven’t actually measured it straight after eating… typically I test first thing in the morning - 12 hours post prandial. It just occurred to me that maybe I eat more of the minced stuff, than just a regular slab of dead cow, and maybe THAT’S why my BG is higher… hmm… time to get more precise about measuring. And ja, I get the juice/whole veggie thing. Makes sense that it would happen with meat - don’t know why I thought it would be different…

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #180

I am totally guessing. I don’t actually know.

Day 27, March 26

1 pound 7.2 ounces of steak and thick fat tonight. 100 grams protein and 150 grams fat estimated.

#182

How are you cooking your steaks? You have nailed every one. Cast iron skillet on a mid to high heat or oven or even sous vide?
