2nd time is the charm

Hi Everyone, I’m a New guy to keto, a new guy to IF, I have been playing on this forum for a few days but figured I should make my formal introduction to the KETO clan here. As stated I am new to Keto I officially starte Jan 15, 2019 I am 6,0’ and at the time was a 352 lbs. I lost 10lbs the first week then relapsed for 2 weeks. However I’m back on the straight and narrow again. A little history 2 years ago I weighed 401lbs yep, count em! in the course of about a year and a half I managed to get down to 258 lbs as of August 2018 doing low carb. Only to spend the next 6 months climbing back to 352 it literally started with 1 slice of cake on a family vacation. It sucks…a lot. All the hard work ruined. That being said I know I am able to do it. Something’s i learned from that experience as I enter KETO: 1. I’m an extremist personality, I’m 100% in or 100% apathetic to the cause (KETO rewards this trait. 2. I like tracking, numbers and analyzing (something keto affords me that I didn’t do with low carb. 3. The carb never tastes as good as it’s worth.
So now I’m back in the fight for my health I’m 16lbs down and I’ve started IF. I’m here gleaning as much “good” advice and knowledge as you experienced folks can bestow upon me.

Have a fantastic day! I look forward to the dialogue!

Welcome!
I just started 2 weeks ago after a few weeks of low carb. I only have about 50 pounds to lose, but a mess of health problems to sort out: T2D, TIAs, strokes, migraine, depression, bipolar, atherosclerosis, etc. So far, the diet is easy. The podcasts are helpful. The more I understand the science of something, the better I do.
Have fun!

Welcome! That is great you lost so much, messing up on Keto can be discouraging but everyone makes mistakes right? Hopefully you can do better this time around and stick with it. Good luck!

This time stay strong and make your life change happen, you can do it!

I had three victories on a bachelor party ski trip this past weekend.

  1. I only gained three pounds despite having many cocktails with some sweet additives included. I have already lost one pound so net two up.
  2. I ordered a burger without the bun and without the fries but it came with both. I calmly removed the bun and never touched the fries. The table started eating both.
  3. I ate Mexican and the basket of chips landed right next to me. I didn’t eat a one.

My point is the longer I do keto and understand what excess carbs do the better my resolve is. Keto on!
