Started May 2 - have tired this before but have never gotten past 2 days so I feel I already have a victory!!
Put on jeans this morning and not as tight as before - been wearing elastic waist shorts for last week!! Horray. Haven’t gotten on scales yet - maybe in another week. Onward to a new week!!

Same here. I am on day 8. My scale says I have lost 6 pounds but not ONE person has noticed!!! I still feel a little low energy but I guess it is because I am eating less than 10g carbs a day. I’ve also cried 4 times in the last 8 days and I am NOT a crier!! My husband doesn’t know what to do with me. I tell him the carbs kept me fat AND happy! Do you guys try to eat more fat than protein as a general rule?
Measure yourself- it can be a better indicator than the scales. (Although I have to confess I can’t keep away from mine!)
I’ve been fasting for 31 days. Drinking coffee with Splenda and water. Every other day I have tuna or sardines.
I know this is severe, but I’m an all-or-nothing-at-all kind of person. I’ve lost 15 lbs.
Any suggestions for what vitamins I might need to maintain my health?
I have to say… I feel low energy too. I’m on Day 9, felt absolutely great the first week, but I’ve completely hit a wall… no energy, workout this morning was on empty. I’ve lost 6 pounds and want to keep going but I just feel completely on empty right now. Don’t know what to do.
Have you listened to 2 Keto Dudes podcasts? Start at 1 and keep listening. They have such good advice and encouragement. You might want to hold on too much exercize for a few days at least or tone it down a bit. Your body is making a big change in how it uses energy and you might feel a bit run down for a short while but it will get better! Then you might be like me and wonder how you lived on carbs before.
I can’t even tell really! In fact, I feel bloated tonight. I am eating around 10g carbs, 98g fat 80g protein daily. Does this sound like the right balance?
How tall are you and what is your weight? You’re eating very little in terms of calories and yes, your protein is quite high compared to fat. Fat to satiety, not protein.
Second that need more fat without question unless you are really short. Do not deficit while in the keto adaption phase, I would say not until you are fat adapted(8 weeks). Eat to your macro level, you should not be hungry at this point anymore, if you are eat fat until you are full.
I’m 5’6 starting weight 140. I should be eating more fat?? That’s hard for me to wrap my head around that!
Keto is a low carb, moderate protein, HIGH FAT eating plan. And yes, your calories and fat are way too low for your size. Here’s a link to a good conversation here.
I would say no less than 1600 calories, protein is on target but fat should be 130 ish. You should not be hungry, eat fat until you are full past your protein macro. This is multi purpose mainly for you to both understand what you will need to run correctly, and to get the full and satiety signalling understood better. Most people don’t have a good sense of that and they are pretty important later on. This is not a diet plan it is a WOE(way of eating) holding back on fat will only serve to make you feel horrible and slow your progress if any. Most of the time both.
Wow. Thank you so much! This is really a flip on how I’ve always eaten. So if I understand correctly, I need to add more fat to my meals (ie butter, heavy cream etc). I feel like I’m eating enough food so maybe if I fatten it up it will help? And, not pa attention to calories so much?
Exactly- forget the calories! You can’t do this & worry about calories- I found I was eating sometimes 2000 calories a day because I was so hungry at the start! I had avocados, lots of cheese, cream, either butter or a sauce with cream & cheese on veggies, coconut oil etc. It is a total reversal for most of us! I’m 8 weeks keto today & feeling good!
