ZC, nutrition and dreams

#1

Hi All,

All my life I have rarely remembered my dreams. Some people remember dreams every night. I only remember dreams if I have been taking vitamin supplements. I have never worked out which vit supplement it is that helps me to remember my dreams.

After 9ish weeks of ZC I am FASCINATED to discover that I am now regularly remembering dreams. Even though I am only taking one supplement (D3/K2 which has never affected my dream remembering).

Which leads me to ask whether sleep changes have happened to you with ZC?

I also wondering if eating veg may have somehow reduced the amount of nutrition I was absorbing. I mean, I used to eat keto - veg, a few berries, no grains and the odd chip - and then needed a supplement on top to be able to remember dreams.

Now I am eating a bit more meat (maybe20% increase), more fat (mainly butter, cream and meat fat) with no veg or fruit except a bit of darkchoc now and then).
So maybe the veg was interfering with me getting the most nutrition out of the meat I was eating…? Fibre preventing vit or min absorption? Something in the veg which prevented my body making use of the nutrients in them?
Obviously I am speculating.

I know that ZCers claim no need to supplement, and I was always open to that idea, but I am blown away that I can apparently gauge it myself, by my dreams, within only 9 weeks of starting this way of eating.

All I can say is that I have found the same to be true with remembrance of my dreams since switching to eating only animal kingdom foods when hungry.

Oxalates found in leafy greens inhibit or block the absorption of calcium and iron - two things women are historically deficient in. Then there’s the other phytotoxins as well…crappy link but it illustrates the point fairly well.

Thanks @Dread1840
Very interesting to learn that oxalates block calcium and iron.

Well, I have to say, this dream remembering is a mixed blessing.

I have always been so envious of people who can remember them. But nowadays I sometimes wake up feeling like I have already done a full day’s living.

Who knew the unconscious could be so… active.

I am 3 months into a low (under 20g) of carbs a day and I have insane dreams now whereas I never used to before! last night I dreamt about making a chick pea, potato, and lentil curry and then woke up thinking I had actually eaten all of it and that I was mad with myself! I had the same sort of guilt dreams when i gave up drinking - would dream that I had drank loads of beer and then wake up really upset that I had broken my no drinking rule! I dearly love my mind!
