Yes her lab was a darker silver, and she only had 2 puppies! Small litter. I had my dibs for a puppy if she would have had a silver. I know the silvers aren’t recognized by AKC. But eventually I’m sure they will be. I’m not sure she will breed agian. Her female had some complications. And she kept the 2 puppies!!!
Your dogs - let's see them
This is Sam. He’s a 2 year old Belgian Malinois
and has become the best companion a person could ask for. Thanks Wendysue he is an amazing friend. His fluffy white heart is the first thing everybody that meets him notices.
They’re awsome dogs. I’ve watched them train, the “Schutzhund” crazy how fast they are. And are excellent Rally dogs!!!
I’m a fan of Mals as well.
At the K9 school I attended, there were mostly Mals, a few GSD’s, and a couple of Dutchy’s. I chose a GSD though, as I occasionally like to rest and sleep
I love the Mal mask and their black hairtips.
Is he a working Mal? Or just a companion?
He really enjoys tracking. He’s tracked a person up to 3 miles away so far by the scent from the persons jacket. He’s getting better all the time and I really enjoy getting out in nature to do his training. He’s been very easy to train with most any command. As far as sleep and rest you couldn’t be more right. It took the better part of his first year but now he goes to his bed when I do and stays there until I get up every morning
Here’s my 15 mths Cavalier Louis. I posted his pic last year when he was 6 months old when my living room was much neater. Aside from chasing cats from the garden and squirrels in the woods, he doesn’t do much hunting, but now my place has no rugs, fewer cushions, shoes and socks, and nothing left on the floor, I’d say he is a great de-cluttering dog!
We also have a GSD. My husband has trained him for “Nosework” they Love it! He has 1 title. Funny he will lose his ball when we use the chuckit and has more fun looking for it. Always finds it! If your interest, go online and ck out the Nosework site. AKC has a few trials now ,there pretty much nationwide. Also Barn Hunt. My Cattle dog has very little interest in nose work . Although she Loves Barn Hunt. Shes a critter hunter.
Is he still a pup? Looks like he still has to grow into his ears.
Beautiful dog - and I’m sure very smart.
He has them big ol radars. He will be three in December.
Extremely smart, which is why I chose him. He is an Eplosives Detection dog; he and I are a freelance K9 Unit.
I was originally training him to be dual purpose, but thought he should specialize instead.
Mine does as well. It took me a bit… but I learned the foremost rule in the K9 detection business: Always Trust Your Dog.
His sense of smell is as sensitive as his ears look like they can hear satellites… haha
Ya, I have heard both of those theories too. I’m really tempted to do one of those DNA tests on her to see what it would say. I think it would be hard to cross breed with a Weimaraner and only get the coloring. I would definitely like to know out of curiosity.
Well, who knows what they do with these doggies, now they even breed double doodles…
I love all dogs… But Bostons are my favorite
You guys are cracking me up with the explosives detection dogs. At best, my girl is a treat detection dog. Sometimes she won’t even notice those.
I could site here and reply to every single post with a like, but it would probably be more appropriate to just say, what a cool thread, with all kinds of awesome furry beasts Love them all !
Here is our beautiful Sadie Mae She is a McNab, which originated from Border Collie, Labrador, and Pit Bull. She is SUPER smart, and the sweetest dog ever
We have 3 more small breed mixes… all rescues, and we love all of them… although the little ones are not as smart, or well behaved as Sadie
4 of my GF’s Roxie (on the left) has lost about 6 lbs ! She went from 19 to 13 ! , and Dottie… the almost pure white Dachshund is a total sweetheart
And our latest addition, Girlie, chilling in the pool with us last week
