You know, sometimes it’s just easiest to fast!

It’s February… again. That must mean it’s time for the RootsTech conference. Like last year, the last several days we’ve been setting up computers and the rest of the week (through Saturday) we’re running computer labs. Every year I’m always faced with the decision of what to do for food since there’s not any food at the conference that’s not carbs, carbs, carbs, with a little protein and fat. I can either bring HydroFlasks, or I can just not worry about eating and Intermittent Fast instead - eating all my food when I get home. Today I’m opting for the fasting approach because sometimes it’s easier to not eat anything. I’ll be drinking water throughout the day and I have a bunch of keto food at home for when I get done… at whatever time that is. I might drink 3 meals at once or I might drink one and then melt a bunch of cheese and eat it with a fork.

I swear I just read something almost exactly like this on Reddit! Except he said he had Keto Chow at home… That you?

When I travel to other cities for a conference, I take advantage of learning the regional food customs. I skip the crappy carby conference foods, and at night look for a good restaurant, or farmers market, or hole in the wall home cookin type restaurant. I learn new flavours, and cooking techniques that way. And always find foods I can eat to stay in keto.

This conference is right here in the city I work in =)

Carl doesn’t like me mentioning Keto Chow in my posts so I try to respect that here. Ended up drinking 2 Cookies & Cream, eating 117g of gooey swiss cheese and a chicken thigh I smoked for the superb owl. Ended up absolutely stuffed at 1772 calories, 17.2g net carbs for the day.

Oh crappy crap crap! That sucks (well, from a food point of view). It’s good you get to be close to family, though.

Actually, this is like going to work everyday. As in, bring a bag lunch from home, since conference is in same city you live in, no?

Indeed, but I don’t have access to refrigeration or even a place to stash anything aside from my coat. I’m running around making sure that the computers in the various labs are happy and functioning. Working a conference is a lot different from attending one  At the end of the day I just want to go home and sleep!

You have my utmost respect and sympathy. I know how hard it is to keep computers working in an office. At a conference it must be extremely busy. I think even I would end up skipping a meal.

Oh dear! Well, the good news is that you are in keto. Similar thing happened to me yesterday…busy running around all day getting things accomplished, and not hungry at all. Ate when I returned home. As a sugar burner in my past , surely, I would stop and eat sometime. And suffer feeling hungry. But, thank goodness today, the thought doesn’t even cross my mind. It’s amazing.
