You CAN cook a frozen turkey!

This is life-changing news to a lazy…er…efficient cook.

It all started when an 8 pound turkey-sicle barely thawed half a centimeter in three days. I couldn’t wait any longer to try my turkey-n-brie recipe (which consists of eating turkey, with brie) so I put that bird in a pan breast side down and stuck it in a 300 degree oven.

8 hours later: perfection. Om, nom, nom.

You’re welcome.

PS: Wouldn’t try this with a larger bird unless you’re ready to slow roast it overnight.

I’m glad it worked out. It’s supposed to be bad to thaw things for too long in the fridge. “Too long” being a relative term. I figure it means more than a day, which means largish items will still be frozen.

What I do now is put the large frozen thing in a bag, in a pail of cool water, for a couple of hours.

I think it’s good that your turkey was at least partially thawed. Otherwise I’d envision an explosion. Does that make me a bad person?

What the–? I thought that was only when you deep fried it?
