Xylitol and inflammation?

Pre keto, I used to consume a fair amount of gum sweetened with Xylitol but dropped that habit when I decided to forgo sweeteners as much as possible a year ago. My mobility has much improved since I started keto, which I attributed to healthy eating and weight loss.

I did start using Swerve sparingly about six months ago, with no ill effects. However, the past few days I’ve had a sudden spike in inflammation (walking like an old lady in the morning) and my weight is up a few pounds, and I used Xylitol for the first time on the weekend to make ice cream.

I searched the googles and most of what I saw suggested that Xylitol is ANTI-inflammatory, but I did find one comment on these forums that suggest otherwise… Sweeteners - your experience?:

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed such a correlation? I can’t think of anything else I’ve done differently that may have caused these changes.

Some react different than others, my wife can tolerate erythritol much better than xylitol.
