Cant seem to get back to counting and measuring so thinking about carnivore. Any thoughts?
Would like to start carnivore
I like carnivore type eating too as a way to not measure things when I don’t want to anymore, or to shed weight fast if I have overdone it with vegetables or bars (carb creep). I think if you eat things that you know are zero carb (or nearly zero carb) then it’s quick to get back into deeper ketosis and more difficult to overeat on that kind of thing. I will focus on just eggs and meat for a bit (days to weeks) till I get bored or start really craving vegetables again.
I never measure my salads or broccoli, and yet I still manage to stay in ketosis, somehow. I think the key is to smother vegetables with fat, so that we are not relying on the carbohydrate to fill us up, only to provide a nice taste and a vehicle for the fat. So I eat my broccoli and cauliflower with cheese sauce, and my salads with blue cheese dressing, and put gravy made with heavy cream on my meat. With all that fat, I am easily satisfied, and the amount of carbohydrate remains low, especially if you count net, not gross.
I also don’t count, ever. I usually have 100% meat/carnivore/dairy (or just meat) for lunch, though sometimes I have olives, tomatoes, salsa. Usually not, though. Then, for dinner, I’ll eat vegetables if I choose to do so.
Unlike Paul, I tend not to add fats to meat. Lately, I have been adding home-made blue cheese dressing, but usually, I just eat the meat. Even – gasp!!! – low fat ham. By itself. With no fat. 99% “fat free!” I know: “mind blown”.
I think macros and counting do not need to be done.
I added my food today. Do I need to stay in my keto macros of fat and protein while doing carnivore
I personally don’t feel it’s that important as long as you are doing fatty meats and cooking with butter. I generally eat ground beef, bacon, pepperoni, and eggs if I’m doing carnivore. I may add in mayo or blue cheese dressing.
I tried Jimmy Moore’s super high fat version of keto, and found that fat simply does not make me full. Meanwhile, I can eat protein, such as that found in lean beef, ham (gotta watch the carbs, obviously), mussels, shrimp, lean pork, etc., and get satisfied.
So, I rarely eat bacon or any other fatty meats. I do eat them, but not often.
No. I usually eat all meat/dairy/eggs for lunch, and whatever my wife cooks for dinner at dinner.
I just moved down another pants size. And I fast multiple times per week.
Adding carnivore to this crowded schedule is too much right now. Sorry.
So don’t count and measure, it’s not compulsory. Do whatever works for you.
