I have been doing keto for about 3 months now. The last couple days my blood ketone levels have been around 5.3 I have read that optimal levels are .5-3.0 So what does it mean being at 5.3? I am hitting my macros with my meals for the day. I intermittent fast daily between 8pm and noon or 1 the following day. I am wondering if I am too high and what I should do?

It means your ketone levels are 5.3. If you are not a T1 diabetic, you should not have to worry about high readings. Your body won’t let you get above 7 or 8, and you won’t go to dangerous territory. For T1 diabetics, near-zero insulin causes high glucose, but also puts no lid on the ketone production, which means values go way over 15 and into dangerous territory.

Ok great thank you. I had read that was considered starvation level on some graphs I saw for nutritional ketone levels so was wondering about it. Now I won’t worry about it.
