Why Wont They Just Admit It?!

It’s not that EVOO is so special - it’s the fat!

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/06/21/extra-virgin-olive-oil-staves-off-alzheimers-preserves-memory-new-study-shows/415279001/

yet they still cling onto the old ‘science’
“As a monounsaturated vegetable fat, it is healthier than saturated animal fats.”

And here’s some indirect support for fasting (well the autophagy that it induces)
“Thanks to the autophagy activation, memory and synaptic integrity were preserved, and the pathological effects in animals otherwise destined to develop Alzheimer’s disease were significantly reduced,”

Or they could go all-in with fish and coconut oil. I believe those to be the best two additions to an anti-Alzheimer’s diet. That in combination reduced sugar/starch. Ketones and DHA are your brain’s friends.

If you ever want to see a Dietitian’s head explode, mention that Lard is more monounsaturated (45.1%) than saturated fat (39.2%), and Olive oil is 13.8% Saturated fat.

Yep, bacon is the answer!

Wish I could find the actual study on this one. EVOO and autophagy in mouse brain? Something sounds off.

found it.

Finding it was easy. Reading it is hard. @Donna

This is why my main fat is pure leaf lard. It is just perfect

(Rob) #6

How hard do you have to squeeze a leaf to get lard out of it… surely a massive breakthrough for vegans… we’re rich!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Finally found that big Keto money to compete with big pharma

Hahaha! Never thought of that

I’d love to see a lot of dietitians’ heads explode!

I don’t understand how rats can be utilized for metabolic studies involving fat and human cognitive function. We literally left the jungle and developed a large neofrontal cortex by eating flesh saturated with cholesterol and fat. Then the government issued guidelines on not consuming fat. Everyone got sick, and no one can understand why. When fat is added back, cognitive function and general well being improves…who would have guessed.

I understand rats as an analog for humans with unethical studies, but considering our evolution, i would consider saturated fat and cholesterol studies on rats, useless. We evolved from primates using fat and thus have a unique relationship that i don’t believe can be emulated with rats. So, 20 new conflicting studies a week come from rats. I will just eat as much saturated fat as i want and disregard studies
