Why might I feel sick after eating?

(Maryann ) #1

Hi folks, I have been in ketosis, per my blood meter, for about 3 months. It is reading around 1.5 to 2.0 most of the time. I’m not super hungry and tend to just have coffee with coconut milk and mct for breakfast. When I do get hungry and eat I tend to feel sick to my stomach for a while after. Any ideas as to why that might be happening? Thank you

I do, too! I’ve been on keto 4 months.I think it’s the amount of fat and/or type of fat. My lunch has melted butter and coconut or olive oil, a long with a slice of cheese. I often feel yucky after I eat.

Take a look at the fats in your diet and eliminate any oils with high levels of polyunsaturated fats, especially omega-6. Switch to butter, tallow, or lard, which are mostly saturated and monounsaturated fats, and get your omega-3 from eating wild-caught salmon a couple of times a week.

That said, my experience of what satiety feels like is that sometimes when I think about eating more food, I get a sense of revulsion at the thought. It’s not really nausea, but I could see someone’s thinking it was.
