My diet is going well, maybe a little to much protein but eating 2 meals a day . Lunch and supper and the odd time a snack . Trying to reduce insulin . The problem is i have my children every second week. And I have to buy them fruits and my favs are pineapples and grapes . It’s not a craving but how do people not have a little taste here and there . I haven’t but so tempted . No problems went they aren’t with me
When kids over
Don’t buy your favorite fruits? My bf still eats sweets and such. I just buy the ones I don’t particularly like so.i won’t be tempted.
My kids are teens and those are the fruits they like in their lunch and to snack on. Would rather fruits then junk . I don’t buy them when they are not with me
Early on I did occasionally have a little of the ‘forbidden fruits’, and there’s nothing wrong with a little treat now and then as long as it doesn’t spiral out of control.
However, the reason I avoid all fruits now (even the keto friendly ones…except avocado) is because fructose is processed 100% by the liver and that pretty much gets all stored as fat.
I was suggesting to buy a fruit you may not be as tempted to eat. If you love pineapples buy a banana.
Try to think of it as that the fruit belongs to your children. I mean it’s you who is buying it, but it belongs to them. And we don’t take things that don’t belong to us without permission. If you want a piece, make it so you’ll have to ask them. That at least gives you another step to think it over.
I understand that, but the kids get to pick the fruit . It’s hard to tell teenagers you can’t have the fruits you like cause dad can’t eat them
. They eat well and don’t want them to get banana on lunch and then they go get a chocolate bar or donut etc
You could always buy whatever and do meals ahead of time, so it’s only one day of having to prepare them, set them aside in the fridge out of view, a drawer just for them, somewhere it’s hideable.
Another idea is that just smelling the fruit e.g. pineapple etc might be enough to fire off the pleasure centre in your brain and you can get the same ‘hit’ without having to eat it.
I cook and bake for my family and I just don’t eat it. I’m done being a slave to my appetite. I think once I get down to a healthy weight I will probably be a little more liberal but for now I just have to say no. I bought my hunny See’s candy for valentine’s day and I TURNED DOWN THE FREE SAMPLE!!! That was huge! I LOVE See’s Chocolate.
I think I will be ok in a bit but only started so seeing the grapes and cutting up the pineapple is tough right now . Thanks all
Hi Jean, I have to feed my son when he stays with me too. He eats several foods that I can’t have. You have to be strong and remember that these foods are choices that you, as an adult have decided aren’t working for you but against your goals whatever they may be with a keto diet. It’s really that simple. It’s ok for them, for now but for whatever reason carbs became an issue for you that you’re working to correct. Don’t cheat yourself.
