Zero.Seriously, it’s 11:48am, I ate eggs and sausage for breakfast at 8:00 and I’m starting to get hunger pains for lunch.
Whelp... took my measurements. Not losing pounds OR inches!
Yes, I am the mother of a 2 year old who still insists on breastfeeding at night. I haven’t slept in 2+ years!
One thing I’m going to attempt is more physical activity. I’m mostly sedentary. I always want to do my prefered workout stuff when I get home, but I’m a mom so I don’t get to do what I want, lol.
Last night I got home and tried to do my kinect dance stuff that I like and my daughter cried for me to hold her the whole time. Sigh.
Ok, the breastfeeding part may alter the whole equation in ways I have no experience with.
Not getting enough sleep can have a super negative affect on weight. It really messes with hormones including those that regulate hunger. That might be a good thing to work on although I know it’s tough with a little kiddo.

This could be a big part of why your hunger isn’t under control even though you’re in ketosis.
I breastfed my daughter till age two, but only once at her bedtime, so I know it wasn’t much nutrition I was providing.
I did not, however, breastfeed while on a ketogenic diet. (only because I wasnt ketogenic 20 years ago)
There are lots of mom’s who do so successfully. Breastfeed on keto.
I agree with @Theresa. The lack of sleep thing raises cortisol, which causes hunger in me, and probably you too. For that reason I make adequate sleep a priority.
I feel ya. Mine is 3 and a strong willed tornado. I wouldn’t change her for anything but my stress level is high most of the time. She’s my first. I’m working on learning to be calm during the tantrums. I’m using Tapping and a meditation app called Headspace. I’m making slow progress. Both with parenting and weight loss.
Have you tested to see if Stevia makes you produce insulin? That would definitely keep you from losing weight, esp if you are having it with all that fat.
Ok, good. Thank you for this information. So, it looks like if you were to dabble with intermittent fasting, the first step is training your body to get fuel from fat instead of eating a meal.
For example, let’s say you stick to eating breakfast and lunch. For dinner, instead of eating a meal, you eat a couple of spoonfuls of butter or coconut oil. And that’s it. This will force your body to fat fast. You won’t be as hungry as eating nothing, but your body will be forced to depend on fat alone for fuel. Once it runs out burning the butter you ate, it starts eating away at your body’s fat. And your body will be forced into this, because It will not see a meal until breakfast next morning as you will be asleep.
The other benefit of this strategy is less time wasted at night eating meal, cleaning dishes, etc, which means you can get to bed earlier and catch up on some Zzzzz’s.
Sweetheart, I hope you find what works. Keep at it. You are a fighter! You can do it!
If you have autoimmune issues cut out all dairy. It can cause us to swell and retain wait. You may be sensitive to it.
Having said that, I think tracking all things is vital for weight loss when we have been obese. I literally write down everything I eat. The point is not to count calories, but to gauge consumption. Enough HWC adds to carbs, for instance. I just use 1 tbsp max in my coffee.
When we have been very obese we have to track our intake more if we are eating a large variety of food than the skinny people, even when the skinny people have been diabetic. It’s just how it is. PArt of why I do ZC a lot is I don’t have to track, generally, as long as dairy remains restricted.
Well, amazingly enough, I’ve never been a person who gets very hungry, and I’ve never really eaten all that much food. Yet still became morbidly obese. So most of my extended fasts are fairly easy as far as hunger goes, although I often miss eating meals. Sometimes I do get hungry, but during this last fast I just sort of ignored it and then had some butter with salt before breaking my fast.
Im glad you found your thing to kick the shedding back in. do you fast 2 to 3.5 days in a row or scatter them throughout the month? ta
oh man… i had 9 years of broken sleep which is a huge contributor to my stress / melatonin balance and REM sleep - HUGE compounders of blood sugar roller coasting
How are things going now, @melindotty? I just ran across this thread and was wondering if you have noticed any changes yet? Also, how much water are you drinking? I have gotten past many stalls just by upping my water intake. Yes, it is hard to drink 100+ ounces of water a day, but it helps so much.
Hi! I drink tons of water. I’ve been watching my food intake and trying to cut out any mindless eating or over eating. I think I might be losing some inches, but I’ll have to check this weekend. The scale still hasn’t moved.
Of course, I’ve been sick, stressed, exhausted, AND I’ve had my period for 3-4 weeks at this point due to my new birth control. Maybe stuff will change when something can even out! I stayed home sick yesterday and got to catch up on some sleep so that was nice.
I know I should try to cut out dairy, sweeteners, etc, but I’m just not ready for those steps yet. I’ve got eating keto foods down, but anything more hardcore will have to wait until I’m mentally ready for it.
Sounds like you’re on the right track. Just keep calm and keto on. Don’t give up, it will work if you keep moving forward!
Keep calm and keto on! I haven’t lost weight like I used to when “dieting” (starving myself) but there are a ton of Non-scale victories. Plus my fat is changing (slowly…oh so slowly) I had a tummy tuck 4 years ago and my stomach used to be hard above my scar. Now it’s softer and more normal feeling and looking. My measurements haven’t changed very much at all. But it’s working. I started in July and have just noticed this in the last month or so. I gave up heavy whipping cream and started IF 20:4 sometimes and I think both of those things are helping.
