I’ve been following him for quite some time and his information is excellent.

He holds 3 advanced research degrees.

He’s been a professor for 25+ years.

Tbh his content is light years better than others and personally I think he is a great person to help preach the carnivore diet.

A great asset to the carnivore community.

Some people don’t like his sort of presentation style though.

Anyone who is willing to put themselves out there to challenge mainstream ideological slop gets my respect.

What do you think about him?

I have never heard of him but now I am curious. Where do you listen to his wisdom? Does he have a podcast?

He has an epic YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/@bart-kay?si=Yf_LJsI7U6nK2I6l

Can’t say I like him. I don’t remember exactly why, however. I do remember the “Sheikh bin Sheikh [repeating]” mentions, though. Ick? And also, that isn’t remotely how Arabic names work?

Hey I’m new! So I don’t want to be down on Mr. Kay

I will say this - he doesn’t read from an AI script. He puts his own voice and face out there which is incredibly brave. He does go all in on topics. He has a high production value in his video. He has a great accent and speaking voice, which can’t be underrated. Maybe his style has painted him into a corner because it’s basically him on a tirade and he addresses every topic with total expert confidence without a hint of uncertainty. His video on physical exercise was just…just so sigh cringe

I don’t enjoy Mr. Kay as he is now, I think he has talent and could grow and soften some of the edges and tighten his stern monologues into a friendlier informative talk. He reminds me of my Dad when he would get wound up tight, haha.

It’s good to have a lot of different voices in a space, but he’s not quite my cup of tea.

Basically every keto’r and carnivore challenges the mainstream already, but Bart Kay is like many, gets a lot of stuff right, and then just talks complete stupidity the rest of the time.

Claims Omega 3’s are “bad”, says never do Cardio, not that it shouldn’t be somebody’s main way to lose weight (which is shouldn’t be), but literally says nobody should ever do it. I saw an interview with him when somebody asked what about when they do endurance sports, he said he should rethink their sport. REALLY?

His half science have his own personal opinion being pushed as science is the same exact thing that tanked Shawn Baker.

Tells me everything I need to know! I like Baker but his online presence is literally insane. Endless videos of him jumping on one foot. Side-by-side videos of him eating meat watching vegan videos. Thanks for boiling this all down for me and others !!

He is the first person I have ever seen say that a ketogenic diet is catabolic and that you need to eat enough protein everyday to break ketosis briefly to prevent electrolyte problems.

It has been a while but if I remember correctly he is against Omega 3 supplementation due to analyzing the supplements and finding that a majority of them were contaminated or rancid or both. He was ok with eating fish but with caution due to mercury.

With cardio, again I hate to speak for him if I get this wrong and it has been a while but he does not like zone 2 cardio because he claims it reduces muscle size, can cause hypertrophy of the heart if excessive.

I do think he is reasonable and when he says something he has a good reason for it.

That said, his foul language, personal attacks, off color humor and angry demeanor have led to lots of people turning away from him.

I listen to a podcast hosted by a trio of gym bros. They say the same thing about cardio. The body wants to be as efficient as possible when improving endurance. The way to do that is to pair down muscle. They like to point out the different in appearance between sprinters and long distance runners. Sprinters are buff and distance runners are scrawny.

This is from the AI Overview explaining the biological mechanisms. Take it for what you will, but it makes sense.

The body pares down muscle size during endurance training because smaller muscles require less energy and oxygen to move, making the organism more efficient. Key biological drivers include AMPK signaling pathway activation , reduced muscle protein synthesis , and metabolic efficiency prioritization . [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Biological Mechanisms

  • AMPK Activation: Endurance exercise triggers the cellular energy sensor AMPK, which promotes energy-producing adaptations while actively suppressing the mTOR pathway responsible for muscle growth. [1]

  • Oxygen Limits: Large muscle bulk restricts optimal capillary and oxygen delivery inside muscle cells, creating a structural trade-off against long-duration stamina. [1]

  • Energy Demand: Sustained endurance activity forces the body to shed excess mass that does not directly contribute to oxygen utilization or forward propulsion. [1]
