Whats your favorite cheese to melt in an omelet?

(Seth Rue) #1

I am going to be feasting this next week and have wondered what the best cheese to melt in an omelet would be? Anyone experiment a good amount with cheese and eggs?

(Tim W) #2

Almost any of them!

My favorites are brie and/or cream cheese, put them in before you fold the omelet over, delish! I actually enjoy those two on top of fried eggs as well. Add them as soon as you remove them from the pan and let em melt all over the eggs.

My favorites are havarti or 3 alarm cojak cheese that I get at sams club.

I almost grabbed havarti, went with brie, Munster, and garlic white cheddar.

Trader Joes has a caramelized onion cheddar which I’m currently very into. It would add a lot of savory depth to an omelet especially with some mushrooms!

It’s hard to beat a good ham and aged cheddar omelette.

Love Jalapeno Jack cheese in mine.

#8

Cream cheese, Cabot white cheddar & fresh jalapeños, like a popper omelette!

#9

pepper jack!

but no such thing as a bad cheese omelette

Cheddar, but melted into the pan so it gets rubbery with more Maillard reactions, texture and flavor. Scrape it off the pan with a spatula and work it into the rest of the eggs. Really good!

Kinda depends on what else is in it. Cheddar is a quick favorite here. But there are other options. Smoked cheddar is nice. If I’m doing spinach in it, even feta works well. If I want a more Mexican flare, a queso cheese goes well along with some salsa and a dab of sour cream on top.

So many possibilities!

My fave is pepper jack!

(Ken) #13

My favorite is Boar’s Head Vermont White Cheddar.

(Candy Lind) #14

Cheddar, cheddar, the sharper, the beddar!!

Smoked Provolone for me, but mushrooms are a must. Shaved ham makes it even better.

(Mark) #16

Like the Kerrygold cheese, they have several different varieties but I like the Skellig the best

(Seth Rue) #17

Interesting, I have never seen Kerrygold Cheeses. Where do you get them?

(Joy Galian) #18

Gouda cheese. Better when cooked…

(Seth Rue) #19

I am all about provolone, however fungus has never been on my list of edibles.

I need to go back to Trader Joe’s for the caramelized onion cheese. I also have to avoid Whole Foods because I could really drop some money at their cheese department.

I was going to list what I like, but I think it was just be easier to say anything but limburger!
