What should I get from Costco?

#1

I’m like 50 miles from the nearest Costco but a friend is going today and offered to pick up anything I want. You Costco shoppers out there, are there any special Keto items there I should have him look for? Remember, I’m a pescatarian now, so no pork rinds, lol. Also, I only have a mini fridge so I can’t load up on cold/frozen stuff.

TIA!

They can have some good fish and sea food.

I also get whisps. They have almond flour and great nuts.
I go through a lot of eggs so I get eggs there also.

They have a great cheese selection.

I always get some bottled water from them and all my paper goods

What are whisps?

I’d get some fish but I’d have to eat it right away but I’m currently fasting. Feels weird to be thinking about groceries during a fast, lol.

Nuts are a good idea.

Whisps are cheese chips. The only ingredient is cheese and they have been baked and are a little puffy. They are nice and crunchy.

Oh, sounds yummy!

I also like their nuts, I regularly buy the macadamias (roasted), pecans, walnuts and almonds (raw). I buy the big container of ground pink Himalayan salt and Moon Cheese snacks,

I like the Tillamook sharp cheddar block and Tillamok Swiss cheese slices. They also have the big bags of 50 Tillamoos snack cheeses and string cheese at my Costco. I also buy their shredded parmesan and feta cheeses in the big plastic containers and their big bags of shredded mozzarella. All these cheeses freeze well if you aren’t going to use them up quickly. So, I divide them into smaller packages and freeze them when I get them home.

I just bought some raspberries at my Costco that were fantastic, really sweet. I usually buy some blackberries. They have a big bag of avocados. Avocados keep well in the fridge, I usually just have a couple out on the counter at a time while they ripen. I often buy the big bag of limes. These also freeze well, I only leave out enough for a few days. The limes come out of the freezer juicier.

I also buy butter (freezes well), eggs and the 2 quart container of Darigold 40% HWC. I buy the big container of Philadelphia cream cheese (I really don’t like the other brands they sell).

A bunch of good ideas! I didn’t think about berries. I’m definitely going to get some cheese and nuts.

(Diane) #8

I also like the Wholly Guacamole which comes inindivdual serving cups. Good ingredients. Yummy!

(Diane) #9

I also like the green olives and big bottles of baby dill pickles.

Really not trying to dominate your thread.

#10

You’re fine! Is the jar of baby dills really big? Not sure it would fit in my mini fridge. I have been craving them lately, mostly due to somebody here always posting pics of deviled eggs, baby dills and green olives as their sides. Y’all know who I’m talking about!

(Diane) #11

It would depend on the size of your mini fridge. The bottles are fairly big, maybe a little bigger than a quart and they come in a package of two bottles. I guess you could put them in smaller bottles (pints?) but you would end up with 2 or 3.

#12

You know, I actually have two old pickle jars in the fridge right now (just drinking the juice, atm). I could put the baby dills in those jars if I needed to. Thanks for the idea!

+1 on these. Single serving so no more brown Guac. Very easy to pack in a lunch bag.

Canned tuna packed in oil.

#14

I’m afraid if I get mini guac cups then I can kiss my fast goodbye.

And they have a good long shelf life in the fridge.

Food-wise, from Costco I often pick up:

  • Steaks (well-priced rib eyes)
  • Macadamia nuts (delicious)
  • Sardines
  • Spam
  • Ghee
  • Avocado oil
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Cheese
  • Smoked salmon
  • Kirkland brand bacon
  • Pink Himalayan salt
  • Asparagus

Just checked the jar of pickles. They are the Nalley Baby Dill, garlic and dill flavored pickles. The jar holds 33.8 oz.

My VERY favorite pickles are the Klaussen pickles you buy in the refrigerated, deli section (usually by the prepackaged sliced meats and cheeses). NOT available at Costco. At least not at mine.

Luckily I live a couple miles from costco and i load up on:

Kirkland Bacon Crumbles (real diced cooked bacon)
Butter
Cheese
Avocado oil
Coconut oil
Folios (when they have them)
Unsweetened Almond Milk
Guacamole

We love Costco!

On my Costco list is:

  • Kirkland pulled pork
  • Fresh chicken thighs
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Shrimp
  • Salami (salami rolls too)
  • Sweet kale salad (no dressing pack)
  • Spinach
  • Frozen chicken wings (or blackened chicken strips – when they have them)
  • Wholly Guacamole single packs (or avocados if I know I will use them all in time)
  • Cheese! So many cheeses. BRING ME ALL THE CHEESES! (We always get the Adams Reserve slices for the kids’ sandwiches, but I like them too)
  • Smokehouse almonds or other nuts
  • Eggs! (I usually hard boil a bunch for the week.)
  • Avocado mayo
  • Bacon (they make pre-cooked packages you just warm up too)
  • Coffee
  • Kerrygold butter

Obviously you can’t fit all that, but there are some ideas.

They have almond flour, but the bag was too large for me so I got a smaller one at Wegmans. I just don’t think I will use it enough to warrant the Costco size.

I wasn’t a fan of the Parmesan Whisps personally, but they have them there and a lot of people do enjoy them.

Got pink Himalayan salt there too. I have enough of that now to last a long time.

FYI, the almond flour freezes well and thaws quickly. It is by far the best price I’ve ever seen. I wish they carried coconut flour.

I don’t like the Parmesan Whisps much either. I do like the Moon Cheese snacks, maybe TOO much.
