What % of the time are you Keto?

(mike) #1

I’m curious how many people are like me. I’m probably keto about 85% of the time. I usually fall off the wagon 1 day/week. My longest streak so far this year is 14 days.[poll type=regular max=20]

  • <25% of the time
  • 25 - 50% of the time
  • 51 - 75% of the time
  • 76 - 99% of the time
  • 100% KCKO!!!
    [/poll]

I think I did this wrong?

#3

I just started a few days ago so I’m at 100% of the time at the moment. Hoping to maintain that for as long as I can.

(Allie) #4

99.9% - I very rarely allow myself something I wouldn’t normally eat as a treat, but on the whole, I keep it keto.

(Allan L) #5

100% since the beginning of June. I find I am all or nothing with almost everything I do and anything in between will lead to failure. Just my personality type.

#6

I’m with allan on this one. 100% – and fasting to pick up any slack.

#7

100% all the time. There is no struggle. There is only Keto.

I have been keto for 8+ yrs. and can say that I am 100% of the time. In recent years, I have had rare off plan food and I don’t get bumped out of keto. I test with a blood ketone meter. It is never a struggle and I also incorporate fasting when need be.

I can add almost another 3 years to that count but when I slipped back then, it cost me 100 lbs. and years of struggle. Lessons learned. I feel so much better in keto on so many levels. This realization makes staying in keto so easy.

I’m thinking to be as close to 100% keto all day long and then having dinner w my hubbie in the evenings. Past 4 weeks we’ve eaten separately together but I’m seeing how we miss what’s been usual for us. We eat organic vegie seafood so real good at baseline altho this isn’t keto. I’m the cooking guru but he’s learning and we really treasure this thing we do together on a daily basis (cook and eat real good healthy food - thai and other styles).

So, would like to take in 15% of my net carbs during the day, then 85% in the evenings. Bulletproof coffee (grass fed butter, MCT oil and a touch of stevia, sometimes 1/2 1/2) first thing helps, as done some sort of intermittent fasting, usually 16:8 so first meal (small!) at abt 2pm. Will test blood keto - was 0.9 last night and monitor daily scale. 10#s down past 4 weeks and holding with anticipated further 1# drop every 4 days or so til goal - which is only 7 more #s. Then will try to maintain this level of both blood keto and scale as well as feeling good !

Any thoughts on this or similar experiences ?
Thanks !
Ah-tee

Keto since March 14th. Have not had one bite of non-keto food in that time. I still have days where my total intake is not as controlled as it should be. But I do pretty well most days, and have learned to KCKO. I don’t measure ketones or macros. But virtually all my carbs are from veggies and incidentals.

If by keto you mean in ketosis, I try to stay in ketosis 24/7, through a combination of eating and fasting. If by keto you mean every meal is HFLC, then no, some of my meals would not be considered HFLC.

I doubt I’m 100% but I also doubt I’m much below it. I’d guess in the high 90’s overall. I also don’t seem to have much of an issue in getting back into ketosis after having a few extra carbs. Maybe I’m lucky that way.

But it’s not really a “diet”, it’s a way of eating. After about 4 months or so, I’m getting pretty well accustomed to what I eat and what I don’t eat. We don’t bring bread and doughnuts and pasta and potatoes and wheat flour home from the store anymore. If we want a treat, we figure out how to make it from ingredients we can eat and not feel guilty over.

The internet is a wonderful place to find keto recipe ideas.

99% of the time

Started in March, went off for one day in October when I went to the international food and wine fest at Epcot. I had a little bite of some starches there.

(Rick) #14

100%. With the health issues I have faced and mitigated to better status with the use of keto, and because it is entirely enjoyable, I will remain so!

(Kyle Kerstiens) #15

I took a week off for family vacation but otherwise 100% for the last 6 months

(Liz ) #16

100%. My carb addiction is ready to take over at the first slip. This is so much easier than worrying about that.

#17

100 % since I started August 1st of this year.

This is impressive. I think I need to understand what eating keto is just a bit better. Right now I’m on an egg fast during the day, after my morning bulletproof. Then, in the evening -add some fish or shrimp with vegies ( stir fry or salad)and some kind of home made curry sauce as well as sips of IPA with my hubbie. I’ve stopped logging net carbs like I did initially maybe I ought to do that again to see where I’m really at. Maybe I’m 90-99% as well !

After much family travel over Tday plus recent further of the same - with plenty eating out, other people’s kitchens and added frivolity, I’m back home and pretty much into “egg fast plus” as above for now - to start scale drop and blood Ketosis up again. Keto’s gone fm 0.1 to 0.4 in about 3 days and scale’s dropped fm 132+ to 130+. Guess I’m doing something right.

Will do this til Christmas week - a whole week fy travel - oh what fun but also slogs this effort just a bit. Will do the best I can to sneak thru keeping keto strong. But then I’ll veback home again and can egg fast or similar til I’m back to strongly keto.

What kinds of things have you all done to maintain keto while in the midst of some frivolity ?

I fast, eat salt, bring my own food, and eat whatever is Keto wherever I am. My favorite thing about the Keto lifestyle is not worrying about not having enough to eat or centering my days around food. Also I don’t get low blood sugar anymore, you know that “hangry” feeling, if I don’t eat so I don’t panic if I’m hungry and there’s nothing I can eat. I wait it out.

I usually will IF the next day until lat afternoon or dinner and then its a keto meal for that. I usually show .1 to .4 ketones by the next day.
