What I've learned so far

allergy

I started out by cutting sugars about 2-3 months ago and then went keto about 2-3 weeks ago. My experience so far is:-
Tinnitus- no further episodes since cutting sugars.
Migraine- no further episodes since cutting sugars.
Bleeding gums- no further episodes since cutting sugars.
Badger mouth (that disgusting morning mouth that makes you want to jet wash your mouth)- no further episodes since cutting sugars.
Energy- Much better all day since going keto despite…
Keto flu- very short because I drank water like it was going out of fashion, used lo-salt and took magnesium and calcium supplements.
Psoriasis- APPEARS to be clearing up since going keto. We’ll see if it is just a natural cycle but it is looking and feeling better and I’ve used nothing on it for two weeks as an experiment to see if it would improve from diet alteration.
Joint pain in my knees- gone since cutting sugar.
Weight- a little subcutaneous fat off my belly and a fair amount of visceral too (judged by the fact that when lying down I can now suck my gut in a massive amount). I didn’t really start this for big weight loss, just half a dozen pounds and to be healthier.

What have I learned from this? I’ve always thought of myself as healthy and fit and just thought the above symptoms were typical of life. I now appreciate that they appear to be symptoms of carb poisoning and allergies to foods not part of the natural evolved human diet.
Breakfast today was coffee with about 5oz! double cream (English for heavy cream), about 200g of high fat mince as a burger (local grass fed beef) and cheese. It is now approaching midday and I have good energy levels. I am eating more varied veg than before because I used to rely on pasta, rice, potatoes and their accompanying sauces for meals, oh and bread.

Psoriasis has now all but gone! After an initial improvement there was a stall but once I started supplementing with vitamin d as recommended by Ivor Cummings and Jeffry Gerber in Eat rich, Live long, it started its final goodbye!

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. I went sugar free before keto simply by cutting out any foods that had processed sugar in them, which for me turned out to be chocolate, biscuits (cookies in USA), jam (jelly in USA?) and ice-cream (I don’t drink sugary drinks). I replaced these snacks with things such as bell peppers with pate or cream cheese, cheese, or celery dipped in peanut butter.
Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Remember to drink plenty of water and keep your electrolyte levels up. I used lo-salt which contains sodium and potassium.
I also avoided exercise for the first few weeks until I was fat burning so I wouldn’t feel terrible.
