I miss shopping at a farmer’s market and local butcher. Expensive but I enjoyed it. That salad was insane though. I’d be struggling to eat all of that. He must have five crisper drawers.
I mean I feel like I do well with my salad at lunch lol…its like a quarter of the size of his… how can he eat all that salad AND meat AND sausage???
I’ve been off my big salads for a month or so, been doing veg for a while.
I thought my salad portion was big, but it looks like half of a Berg portion and I’m pretty full after consuming it.
Will have to go back to salad, I do enjoy it and it works better than a lot of veg for my digestion.

I’ll do a salad from time to time but I can’t do that every day. No way. I do, however, eat a good many cooked veggies.
I just ain’t got the choppers to handle that much chewing anymore. Hoping to get some work done one of these days. My pre-keto days were not kind to my dental health. It feels like I may have come back to more of a standstill but there is major damage that can’t be undone. (The worst of it happened after I doubled down on vegetarian living and became a vegan thinking it would be more healthy. I shouldn’t open that can of worms. Too late.) I’ve been told that losing weight can mean that dentures don’t fit so well anymore so I’ve purposely put off making an appointment. As I get closer to the weight I intend, though, I may have to make some plans. I can get along just as things are, but it would be nice to be able to really smile again…
Yeah, I experienced similar problems and have a majority of one side of teeth with dental work. Maybe a dentist could consult about it and find a temporary option that can be adjusted as you lose weight?
Dr Berg is a chiropractor with no medical, or for that matter, chiropractic practice these days. It is my impression that he is an opportunist who has seen the benefits of a keto diet and now makes his living from it.
Initially I watched a fair number of his videos, but something seemed off to me. I no longer put much stock in what he says. Just my own personal opinion. YMMV.
Don’t know but I find him very supportive and genuine. But I’m a but gullible.

My record with Dr Berg on Youtube is almost identical to yours, Alexia. Except…that I don’t hold the Orthodox Medical Community high esteem either on the whole. At least not high enough to outrank the The Chiropractic Community.
(Surgeons, on the other hand are often magicians.) (I don’t want to paint with too broad a brush in either case. Exceptions abound…)
My MD. and his entire is clinic is extremly KETO friendly and he/they learned all their nutritional wisdom SEPARATE AND APART from Medical School. If the MD’s (and Chropractors!) did their job better…nutritionally… we’d have a health care system that isn’t about ready to banktupt the country.
There’s no pill or exercise that can undo decades of running our bodies on the wrong type of fuel.
I still watch (and like) some of Berg’s stuff, but with a more critical eye than at first.
That’s a good place to be, not just with Berg’s stuff, but with all of the Dr types. There are variations, even among our most well liked gurus. Phinney doesn’t like fasting while Fung does. Naiman likes more protein, Berg, not so much. Etc., etc.
N=1 ultimately dictates where we find health. There may be similarities in most all of our diets but where we find our groove might be a bit different from person to person and I suspect for most every grove, there is probably a guru somewhere that also found that same groove.
It’s good to listen to various people. And I enjoy doing that. And I may consider what they say even if it’s different than what I believe is right for me. FWIW, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I don’t watch Berg but the idea that he isn’t a doctor is an appeal to authority fallacy. By that logic Richard and Carl have no place at the table because they have no medical training. The best advocacy for keto is coming from outside the medical profession!
Amen brother. I have found more support from this group all working together to ferret out studies and sharing n=1s. Very few medical persons here. Love Dr. Berg’s diligence, and support for those he is trying to serve.

I’ve watched his videos before and I agree with you. The way he displays products kind of makes me suspicious that he’s getting some kind of kick back. Why would someone so healthy buy store salad dressing. Not saying what he’s doing isn’t a good thing but I do tend to shy away from these gurus who hawk a lot of products.
I have a brain and discerning judgement, these are my thoughts, no need to call me names. I only referenced the doc in my comments, not everyone here.
Oh look. An anonymous stranger on the internet said something mean to me for expressing a personal opinion. Boo Hoo.
So let me explain my position further. I do not go to doctors and haven’t been into a regular doctors office for at least 30 years. I don’t trust them.
But I am concerned about my health, and other than being overweight and having a screwed up metabolism, I think I’m doing pretty well at 73. I’m on no meds, I’m happy, and am still very physically active with no aches or pains, bla, bla, bla.
To stay relatively healthy I like to keep up with what’s going on. That’s why I (and most of us here) are swimming against conventional medical advice and following a keto way of living. But to keep up with what I think is best, I have to keep informed. I do that by reading and watching videos and participating on forums, etc.
It is obvious however that everyone who advocates healthy diets on the internet do not know what they are talking about. To narrow it down further, not everyone who is a keto ‘expert’ is someone I would rely on to make my health decisions. Hence I make decisions who I am willing to trust, and those who I no longer will listen to.
IMO Keto in some respects is in its infancy. There is much that is not known so the best we can do is stay informed, but in the end, trust our own instincts. I really don’t care if the person I choose to learn from is a medical doctor or an engineer, or just about anything else. But they must however pass my basic gut instincts…
The list of those who I do trust and love to listen to is long. But there are some who have fallen by the wayside. For me, Dr Berg is one of the latter. Just my personal gut instinct regarding my own personal health. As I said above, YMMV. (your mileage may vary) If you like Dr. Berg, enjoy him.

This is the only warning we will make about this. So play nice.
