What % fat is this ground beef?

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #1

Food labels here in the Middle Kingdom are not so… thorough. And I’m glad low fat obsession hasn’t overtaken the culture yet. (Though carbs are superbly popular.)

Anyway. The only information I could find on the label was ingredients: beef, and 500g.

Anyone have a guess as to fat content so I can accurately (as is reasonable) enter this into cronometer?

When you cook it how much fast is released? I do 80% and 90% and at 90% there is mostly water released when I cook it. You have to eyeball it.

It definitely has a (lovely) greasy feel when I eat it, and there is always fat in the bottom of the bowl and pan.

Probably 80% then. 70% would we swimming in grease.

Thanks! I feel like the last batch was closer to 70 then. This one feels like less. Last time I had chunks of fat in the bottom of the bowl when it had cooled. At first I thought I was eating cheese. I but it is hotter now than then, so who knows? Even with AC my coconut oil is clear liquid, so sometimes hard to judge.

Thanks for your help!

A google image search for “ground beef fat content” makes me think it is 80 or 85.
90+ is much more red.
70+ (per @daddyoh) would be swimming in grease but is also difficult to find (I think butchers would think it would be hard to sell).

Not here. It’s not even something most customers would think to ask about. In fact, I think my last tube or two were higher fat, because consistancy on that front isn’t a big deal.

Thanks for googling the pictures! That was a great idea!

After googling a bit I’m going to say it is generally 70%, with this batch maybe being naturally a bit less fat. I’m sure no one is actively trying to reduce the fat content.
