He would never have been transported here, not made of the right stuff at all.
What did you take a photo of on your walk today? (feat. CHUNK)
We finally got some sun and my pup and I got a good walk in. I have been feeling a bit down since the fast, but the walk and the sun have cheered me right up.
The only dog I saw today was outside my office, which is inside an old industrial building - tank barrels were manufactured here in World War II.
The Maker of Dust Bunnies had a displeased Scottish Terrier in mind, methinks.
OMG @Tmdlkwd. A West Coast Lady in February? That is a very good sign. Last summer there were very few butterflies, and the experts said it was because it was a relatively dry winter. Here’s wishing for hundreds of them in the coming months! Do you know what plant that is?
That is good going. My lab would have chewed into the box, eaten every single knuckle bone, continued chewing into the box until it was unrecognizable, eaten the gate, gone to my partner’s work and eaten them, mocked me on the forum, then gone home and sat there as if nothing had happened.
Really though, I’m told that it’s because she’s bored and/or doesn’t have enough exercise. She is outside so many times throughout the day (where she can run around in the garden), gets three long walks and at night I often walk them off leash because it’s crazy late and nobody else is around, so she gets to run around then as well. Personally I think she needs some of @Shortstuff’s special touch.
Snow in the Seattle area
Most of the snow (which fell Sunday/Monday) has been receding through the week very slowly because temperatures have been unusually cold for this area, and we’ve only had glimpses of sunshine. This was from earlier in the week on a few occasions (solo walk, sledding with my daughter, and bringing the dogs out). Just when we thought it was all over there’s signs of an even bigger mess coming tomorrow (snow, storm, you name it). All the stores here are out of snow shovels, grocery stores are being “ransacked” of basic supplies and we might have difficulty getting around over the weekend. Then the weather next week isn’t looking good either…
I’ve been here six years and never seen a winter this bad.
We lived in seattle many years ago and I remember one year, 1 cm of snow fell and the whole city shut down. My mom didnt know, she drove me and my sister to school and only then realized it was closed for the day, she couldnt believe it We don’t let snow bother us here
Haha, that’s funny about being the only ones who got to school!
The main problem when we get snowfall like this is it’s unexpected, the cities aren’t really set up well for it because temperatures here honestly don’t dip below 0°C very often. There’s a lot of people from all over the world as well due to the hot tech market, meaning a lot of drivers who aren’t used to the challenges of snow and ice. I like to think I know most of the tricks to get around in most snow conditions but much of the reason I’ve worked from home these days is because of other drivers who are less experienced and likely to rear end me, or whatever.
This year’s snowfall is honestly the worst I’ve seen it in the years I’ve been here. Normally it melts off very quickly and is a brief spectacle, if anything. Combined with the harsh cold this year it’s thrown everything into chaos. With everyone knowing another storm is coming tomorrow with heavy snow, all the grocery stores were emptied today. I went to Costco to pick up some rice for my in-laws who just got into town, and that ended up being an hour just to park!
We have the same “trouble” in Slovenia with towns by the coast-most have only summer tires and when they get some snow,it turns into a big mess
Next winter we knew we had to check the news before leaving for school
I have very fond memories of Seattle
Okay, not a walk. Prepping for my first batch of very low carb beef jerky
